In this paper we study some fundamental properties of QC-LDPC code, we use a recursive compression algorithm to optimize the structure of QC-LDPC code, it can effectively reduce the coding complexity, save the space which is used to storage QC-LDPC code, and don't need to reduce its error correction performance. We use VHDL language to design QC-LDPC decoder in the FPGA chip. This system was simulated in Quartus 117.2.

A dictionary attack against SSH is a common security threat. Many published ways rely on network traffic to detect SSH dictionary attacks. This is because the connections of remote login, file transfer, and TCP/IP forwarding are visibly distinct from those of the attacks. However these ways incorrectly consider the connections of automated tasks as those of the attacks because of the mutual similarities. In this paper, we propose a new approach to identify user authentication methods on SSH connections and to remove connections that employ non-keystroke based authentication. This approach rests on two perspectives: (1) an SSH dictionary attack targets a host that provides keystroke based authentication, (2) automated tasks through SSH need to support non-keystroke based authentication. Thus, our proposal contributes to improvement in the detection accuracy of SSH dictionary attacks.

The innovation and development brought by the new technologies in our information era have started to appear in education. Distance learning has become a core educational strategy around the world, with extending to a broad cross-section of online universities and virtual universities. The Internet is providing mechanisms for fundamental changes in the way people learn. Video conferencing, Web conferencing and collaboration provide interactive, real-time multimedia communications for distance learning. We review the evolution of technologies and tools in distance learning, and discuss the current state of distance learning, with a focus on the tools or technologies on the Internet available for distance learning. Then we present a newly developed interactive multimedia educational system. The system is based on a new compression algorithm with low bit-rate, software-implemented video codec to achieve real-time, multicast transport. Finally we provide experimental results of this system.

The embedded wavelet hierarchical image coder is a simple and effective image compression algorithm, having the property that the bits in the bit stream are generated in order of importance, yielding a fully embedded code. An analysis of the algorithm is presented in which the embedded code is viewed as a sequence of binary decisions that distinguish an image from the 'null' image, i.e., the all-gray image. Thus the technique is similar in spirit to binary finite-precision representations of real numbers. An interesting application of very low-bit rate image coding, i.e., image database browsing, is discussed.< >

We introduce the SCP - the sorted common prefix, and study some of its properties. Based on the internal representations used by a class of new compression schemes, we show how the SCP table can be constructed using an O(u+| /spl Sigma/ |K/sub max/) number of comparisons on average, and O(u | /spl Sigma/ |) worst case, where u is the size of the sequence, | /spl Sigma/ | is the number of symbols, and K/sub max/ is the maximum SCP value. We describe one application of the SCP to the problem of anchor points in multiple sequence alignment.

Preliminary results of an attempt at correlation between objective parameters computed on video compressed sequences and subjective scores are reported. The measurement of the objective parameters is performed on sub-areas of the frame singled out taking into account spatial information and motion detection. The results show that the division of the frame into sub-areas can improve correlation performances provided by objective measurements; future planned studies are also reported.

A motion estimation algorithm based on Phase-Only Correlation (POC) function is proposed. Motion estimation is one of the key tasks in several applications such as video encoding. Motion estimation is the process of finding the vertical and horizontal displacement of a block. The accuracy of this process depends on the search method and matching criteria. The proposed method calculates POC on the entire *** gives us a good estimated of the displacement that occurs within the frame. The size of the peaks depends on the size of the area that is moving towards the direction represented by them. We select a set of peaks that can be coded in a lookup table. Then, Sum of Absolute Difference (SAD) is calculated for each vector within the table. The vector with the lowest SAD for the block is selected as the motion vector. The search method based on POC provides better results compared with Full Search.

This paper describes a single-chip compressor implementing a combined LZSS and Huffman compression algorithm. The chip uses a 512-byte on-chip CAM/SRAM for storing the most recent characters which the incoming string is compared against and referenced to. The reference entries are then Huffman coded using a transposition implementation. The chip in 1.2 /spl mu/m CMOS is 0.9 cm/sup 2/ with a clock speed of 40 ns. With a compression ratio of above 2.1, it performs compression/decompression at a rate of 32 bytes per 33 clock cycles.

It is vital for a chronic medical patient to continuously take readings of his/her vital functions (e.g. heartbeat, etc.) and present to the physician. The problems are how to take readings without affecting the patient's normal life and how to send large amounts of data associated with vital readings like ECG, EEG, etc. to the physician effectively. In this article we propose a framework which will collect readings from ECG monitoring devices in a wireless network, then compress the collected data and automatically send this data to the physician through the patient's handheld device like 'smart' phone. We have also proposed an efficient compression algorithm for compressing the ECG waveforms in real time into a form that can be easily transmitted from the handheld device using SMS. The results obtained after implementing this compression algorithm using Java platform, micro edition version 2 (J2ME) are compared with existing ECG compression algorithms in terms of percent mean square difference (PRD), compression ratio (CR) and execution time.

In this study, an optimum wavelet transform-based ECG compression technique is proposed and its noise performance analysis is investigated. The major addressed issue is guaranteeing an error limit as small as possible measured by the percent root mean square difference (PRD) for the reconstructed ECG signal at every segment while keeping the compression ratio (CR) as large as possible with reasonable implementation complexity. For this purpose, an optimum wavelet transform-based compression algorithm is developed. Noise effects on the normal and the arrhythmia signal is analyzed based on the compression ratio (CR) and the reconstruction distortion. With the help of similarity measurement model it is defined that how much the reconstructed signal is similar to the original one. Two numerical metrics PRD and CR are used as the major performance evaluation parameters to analyze the results of the implemented method quantitatively. Using the developed technique, different types of orthonormal wavelets are compared.
