Summary form only given. In a DCT block of a compressed image, the density of non-zero AC coefficients and their size decrease as the block is scanned in the zigzag order. This paper presents a minor modification to the Huffman coding phase of the JPEG baseline algorithm to exploit this redundancy for further compression. Our encoder divides each block into two roughly equal halves (bands) and codes each band using a separate code table. It moves the EOB (end-of-block) marker to the middle of the sequence of non-zero AC coefficients and then replaces it by one of two split markers, whose selection depends on whether the number of non-zero AC coefficients is even or odd. No marker is needed at the end of a block. The major difference between this approach and the spectral selection method of the JPEG progressive mode is that the band boundary is flexible in our approach (i.e., it can vary from block to block).

The paper deals with prospective 3D video transmission systems that would use compression of both multiview video and depth maps. The paper addresses the problem of quality of views synthesized from other views transmitted together with depth information. For the state-of-the-art depth map estimation and view synthesize techniques, the paper proves that AVC/SVC-based multiview video coding technique can be used for compression of both view pictures and depth maps. The paper reports extensive experiments where synthesized video quality has been estimated by use of both PSNR index and subjective assessment. Defined is the critical value of depth quantization parameter as a function of the reference view quantization parameter. For smaller depth map quantization parameters, depth map compression has negligible influence on fidelity of synthesized views.

Based on the specialties of the transmission of fixed-length short data in certain special industries, the lossless compression algorithm for the fixed-length short data packets is presented. The iteration procedure is used to explore the rules rightward and downward from the source data packet and the compression dictionary is obtained. It overcomes the shortcoming of the traditional compression algorithm which only compresses the data by file, but cannot compress the short data effectively by packets. Only the compressed packet but not the compression dictionary is transferred in the network. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm also overcomes the shortcoming that the Lempel-Ziv-Welch (LZW) algorithm cannot compress the data by pockets. This lossless compression algorithm can effectively compress the fixed-length short data which has similar structure and massive repetition. It realizes compressing and transfering the packets effectively and securely.

Advances in 3D scanning technologies have enabled the practical creation of meshes with hundreds of millions of polygons. Traditional algorithms for display, simplification, and progressive transmission of meshes are impractical for data sets of this size. We describe a system for representing and progressively displaying these meshes that combines a multiresolution hierarchy based on bounding spheres with a rendering system based on points. A single data structure is used for view frustum culling, backface culling, level-of-detail selection, and rendering. The representation is compact and can be computed quickly, making it suitable for large data sets. Our implementation, written for use in a large-scale 3D digitization project, launches quickly maintains a user-settable interactive frame rate regardless of object complexity or camera position, yields reasonable image quality during motion, and refines progressively when idle to a high final image quality We have demonstrated the system on scanned models containing hundreds of millions of samples. On the base of NS-IMMC, this paper propose a new method of generating the cause-and-effect of news topic. The new method choose representative sentences for news documents according to the spesialty of news structure(NS,News structure),and then utilizes IMMC(Improved Min-Max clustering) to classes these representative sentences to generate multi-documents summary which represents the topic cause-and-effect. Program execution traces are frequently used in industry and academia. Yet, most trace-compression algorithms have to be re-implemented every time the trace format is changed, which takes time, is error prone, and often results in inefficient solutions. This paper describes and evaluates TCgen, a tool that automatically generates portable, customized, high-performance trace compressors. All the user has to do is provide a description of the trace format and select one or more predictors to compress the fields in the trace records. TCgen translates this specification into C source code and optimizes it for the specified trace format and predictor algorithms. On average, the generated code is faster and compresses better than the six other compression algorithms we have tested. For example, a comparison with SBC, one of the best trace-compression algorithms in the current literature, shows that TCgen's synthesized code compresses SPECcpu2000 address traces 23% more, decompresses them 24% faster, and compresses them 1029% faster.

Aquaculture in remote areas challenges significant monitoring due to limited internet access. This research develops and implements an IoT communication system using LoRa RFM95W module, ESP32 microcontroller, and Telkom's LoRaWAN Gateway Antares for efficient and reliable sensor data transmission. LoRa operates in the 920–923 MHz band which offers long-range communication with low power consumption and is ideal for remote IoT applications. Class A LoRaWANare selected for power efficiency and an optimal Spreading Factor (SF) is chosen to balance coverage, data rate and power consumption. Data compression techniques are applied to minimize data loss, reduce data size, optimize bandwidth usage and ensure real-time data integration. Experiments with various compression algorithms and distances showed that the unishox2 algorithm achieved the best compression ratio, capable of transmitting data sizes of up to 347 bytes with minimal signal loss on SF9.

In the Internet of Things (loT) system, the environmental data are collected by devices, but not always changed. If the gateway always returns all of data sensor in the process of data synchronization by platform, a lot of bandwidth would be wasted when most of the data collected by some devices. It is necessary to integrate between the cloud and IoT using data transmission as the limitations of IoT devices. However, for the loT system, the existing algorithms are not very efficient because the data in loT system have different characters such as real-time and mutability. To solve the problem, this paper proposes some methods to reduce the data transmission time using the Timestamp algorithm to record the last time of collected data by the device, sending data from the gateway if the data is different from the data on the platform, the Bitmap algorithm as the device status sync algorithm, and also the lossless RAKE compression algorithm to reducing memory. The results of this study are expected to reduce the time consumption of data transmission and reduce memory usage to increase the life of IoT devices. This study consider the data synchronization time, data compression and data decompression time, and also the compression ratio.

In confronting plenty of trajectory records are generated and stored by GPS-equipped mobile devices making the device memory suffer a heavy storage pressure, it is a vital issue to compress the trajectories. This paper proposes a trajectory compression algorithm Velocity Preserving Trajectory compression based on Retrace Point Detection (VPTR). In VPTR, the retrace points and the velocity errors are taken to reflect the speeds and directions attached with the points. VPTR first determines whether the points to be retrace points on basis of the changed movement directions, and then the retrace points are extracted from the original trajectories. Especially, the retrace points are put in a buffer, and the sub-trajectories in the buffer are compressed according to the measured velocity errors. Simulations are carried out on the Geolife trajectory dataset, and the simulation results indicate that VPTR can achieve a preferable trade-off among the compression error, compression ratio and running time.
