Image compression reduces time and cost in image storage without significant reduction of the image quality. This paper puts forward a wavelet-based predictive image coding algorithm, which has a higher coding rate than traditional coding algorithm. Based on the algorithm above, this article adopts the selective image compression technique to compress facial images. This algorithm attains a compression ratio from decade to several decades and settles the transmission and storage problem preferably.

We present a formal method to determine whether there exist living creatures in a given computational environment. Our proposal is based on studying the evolution of the entropy of the Studied system. In particular. We check whether there exist entities decreasing the entropy in sonic parts, while increasing it in the rest of the world, which fits into the well-known maximum entropy production principle. The entropy of a computational environment is measured in terms of its compression rate with respect to some compression strategy. Some life-related notions Such as biodiversity are quantified as Well. These ideas are presented by means of formal definitions. A toy example where a simple living structure is identified in a video stream is presented. and some results are reported.

In the paper, a new parallel LZW-Like algorithm, bidirectory LZW algorithm (BD-LZW) will be interpreted The new algorithm can be used in data compression/decompression system which runs on multi-microprocessor system, such as CELL, which the algorithm will be implemented on. Different from the conventional parallel LZW algorithm with one input directory, BD-LZW algorithm allows two threads reading characters from two ends of string. By this method, the data can be partitioned for compression/decompression loading between two threads fairly and easily. The most important is the compression performance can be improved by the new algorithm. Comparing running time, it's lower 10% than conventional parallel LZW (P-LZW) algorithm when there are two threads running on CELL architecture. © 2008 IEEE.

Most of the data traversing corporate networks is redundant. The sources for this redundancy are the common language of the organization, business process flows and redundant internal application communications. The performance of the various applications running in a network is frequently constrained due to limited bandwidth, application contention and latency. By reducing the number of bytes that are transmitted across the WAN, data compression can potentially decrease network congestion, increase network effective capacity and communicate significantly larger amounts of data across an existing infrastructure. This paper describes the performance analysis of dictionary based data compression algorithm namely Molecular Sequence Reduction which delivers higher data compression rates, higher speed and scalability than the existing compression algorithms Lempel Ziv 77, Lempel Ziv Prediction.

On the base of NS-IMMC, this paper propose a new method of generating the cause-and-effect of news topic. Summary form only given. Significant work has been performed on encrypting images and compressing images as two separate problems, but traditional encryption techniques generally degrade the compression ratio. To circumvent these issues, two methods have been used. The first employs known encryption algorithms on compressed image data. The second develops compression algorithms which work well for encrypted data. The contribution of this paper is using alpha rooting to perform simultaneous compression and encryption. This achieves improved compression performance in terms of computational complexity and compression ratio. Results are shown for 2 of the well known benchmark images, using the well known JPEG image compression standard to demonstrate the effectiveness of alpha rooting for simultaneous encryption and compression.

This paper presents a compression algorithm for dynamic data, the size of which keeps on increasing rapidly. It is a memory efficient data compression technique comprising of a block approach that keeps the data in compressed form as long as possible and enables the data to be appended to the already compressed text. The algorithm requires only a minimal decompression for supporting update of data using a little preprocessing which reduces the unnecessary time spent in compression-decompression to support update by the algorithms deigned till now to a minimum. Further, the text document can be modified as required without decompressing and again compressing the whole document. The paper also presents the design of the required data structures for our algorithm with performance results.

We introduce an EDIF netlist graph-based compression algorithm which is lossy with respect to the original byte stream but lossless in terms of the circuit information it contains. The algorithm builds on the graph mining tool SUBDUE. Our algorithm, CEDIF (Compressed EDIF), compresses the EDIF file to a size about 39% of the size of the compressed file resulting from the state-of-the-art PAQ text compression algorithm and to about 85% of the size of a GRAPHITOUR-like graph compression algorithm.

In this paper, the 3-D wavelet-fractal coding was used to compress the hyperspectral remote sensing image. The classical eight kinds of affine transformations in 2-D fractal image compression were generalized to nineteen for the 3-D fractal image compression. Hyperspectral image date cube was first translated by 3-D wavelet and then the 3-D fractal compression coding was applied to lowest frequency subband. The remaining coefficients of higher frequency subbands were encoding by 3-D SPIHT. We use eight-fork tree division algorithm to improve the matching accuracy and reduce the time of fractal coding. The new compression method had been tested by MATLAB. The experiment results indicate that we can gain high compression ratios and the information loss is acceptable.
