The electrification in remote islands whose electricity distribution network is not connected to the mainland's grid is mostly based on Autonomous Power Stations (APSs) that are usually characterized by a considerably high electricity production cost, while at the same time the contribution of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) in these regions accounts for less than 10% of the total electricity generation. This actually results from the fact that despite the excellent wind potential of most of these islands, the wind energy contribution is significantly restricted from limits imposed to protect the remote electrical grids from possible instability problems, due to the stochastic wind speed behavior and the variable electricity consumption. On the basis of probability distribution of the load demand of a representative Greek island and the corresponding data related to the available wind potential, the present study estimates the maximum - acceptable by the local grid - wind energy contribution. For that reason, an integrated computational algorithm has been developed from first principles, based on a stochastic analysis. According to the results obtained, it becomes evident that with the current wind turbine technology, wind energy cannot play a key role in coping with the electrification problems encountered in many Greek island regions, excluding however the case of introducing bulk energy storage systems that may provide considerable recovery of the remarkable wind energy rejections expected. In our daily life, often we use forecasting techniques to predict weather, economy, population growth, stock, etc. In recent years, many fuzzy time series methods are developed for forecasting of enrollments of Universities. Song and Chissom (1993) were the pioneers in studying such type of problems. Shiva Raj Sing (2007) presented a simple time variant method for forecasting the enrollment of the University of Alabama using fuzzy time series. Forecasts are needed only if there is uncertainty about the future. In this paper develop the modified algorithm to forecast enrollment for the same data set and compared with existing methods. The proposed method shows the better forecasting accuracy rate for enrollments, compared than other methods.

The partial least squares procedure was originally developed to estimate the slope parameter in multivariate parametric models. More recently it has gained popularity in the functional data literature. There, the partial least squares estimator of slope is either used to construct linear predictive models, or as a tool to project the data onto a one-dimensional quantity that is employed for further statistical analysis. Although the partial least squares approach is often viewed as an attractive alternative to projections onto the principal component basis, its properties are less well known than those of the latter, mainly because of its iterative nature. Este trabalho propõe a utilização da técnica de modelagem para obtenção das equações do movimento de sistemas dinâmicos, apresentando uma contribuição para o desenvolvimento do algoritmo computacional e implementado através da técnica de grafos de ligação. O objetivo é entender o desempenho do algoritmo desenvolvido através dos grafos de ligações e, assim, avaliar e validar as propostas deste trabalho. O problema da busca para obter uma equação do modelo de sistemas dinâmicos com geração automática em plantas industriais tem levantado a necessidade de desenvolver um algoritmo para sistemas que forneça a equação do movimento do modelo dinâmico. A proposição desta Tese consiste na aplicação da técnica de grafos de ligação para a determinação das equações de estado a partir do algoritmo desenvolvido com um programa computacional para geração automática das equações do movimento na forma de equações de estado. Os algoritmos foram desenvolvidos em ambiente matemático simbólico. Alguns estudos de caso (aplicações) foram utilizados para validação do algoritmo, constituindo estudo de casos sistemáticos, sendo: -Sistema dinâmico viga-bola, sistema mecânico massa-mola-amortecedor e seu análogo o circuito RLC e sistema servo-válvula eletro-hidráulica. computational simulation is a very powerful tool to analyze industrial processes to reduce operating risks and improve profits from equipment. The present work describes the development of some computational algorithms based on the numerical method to create a simulator for the continuous casting process, which is the most popular method to produce steel products for metallurgical industries. The kinematics of industrial processing was computationally reproduced using subroutines logically programmed. The cast steel by each strand was calculated using an iterative method nested in the main loop. The process was repeated at each time step (?t) to calculate the casting time, simultaneously, the steel billets produced were counted and stored. The subroutines were used for creating a computational representation of a continuous casting plant (CCP) and displaying the simulation of the steel displacement through the CCP. These algorithms have been developed to create a simulator using the programming language C++. algorithms for computer animation of the continuous casting process were created using a graphical user interface (GUI). Finally, the simulator functionality was shown and validated by comparing with the industrial information of the steel production of three casters.
