In this work, we present our experience in designing laboratory prototypes for practical teaching in control engineering at the Faculty of Engineering (ESIDE) at the University of Deusto. These prototypes have been designed in order to achieve a practical training that is more closely related industrial practice. For this design, we first analyse the technical profile generally demanded by enterprises. The professional qualification of our students in the fields of Industrial Instrumentation, systems and Automation is analysed. Developed prototypes are described and main differences between using commercial educational equipment and using real industrial equipment are analysed.
