One of the key steps in compressed sensing is to solve the basis pursuit problem min(u is an element of Rn){parallel to u parallel to(1) : Au = f}. Bregman iteration was very successfully used to solve this problem in [40]. Also, a simple and fast iterative algorithm based on linearized Bregman iteration was proposed in [40], which is described in detail with numerical simulations in [35]. A convergence analysis of the smoothed version of this algorithm was given in [11]. The purpose of this paper is to prove that the linearized Bregman iteration proposed in [40] for the basis pursuit problem indeed converges.

Nonribosomal peptides (NRPs) are of great pharmacological importance, but there is currently no technology for high-throughput NRP 'dereplication' and sequencing. We used multistage mass spectrometry followed by spectral alignment algorithms for sequencing of cyclic NRPs. We also developed an algorithm for comparative NRP dereplication that establishes similarities between newly isolated and previously identified similar but nonidentical NRPs, substantially reducing dereplication efforts.

Developments in materials simulation, driven by algorithmic advances and rapid increases in computer power, now allow systems of tens of millions of atoms to be routinely simulated, while systems of billions of atoms can be simulated on the largest super-computers (). In this paper, we proposed a measurement-based admission control (MBAC) algorithm for adaptive real-time applications in wireless IP network. In our algorithm, admission test is performed over successive time scale based on the maximal link busy time (MBT), which provides an upper bound for admission test. Analysis and simulation results show that the proposed algorithm possesses consistency and robustness for various traffic models, and achieves high bandwidth utilization by adopting statistical multiplexing gain.

The paper presents unified framework of feedback motion control design with the Vector Field(s) Orientation (VFO) method for the articulated tractor-semitrailer vehicle in a context of trajectory tracking as well as set-point control problems. The work is an extension of the VFO control method for the nonholonomic systems with higher-dimensional state vector. Obtained control algorithm has an intuitive geometrical interpretation of particular control components yielding smooth and natural vehicle motion quality together with the simple controller parametric synthesis. Theoretical considerations are confirmed by simulation results obtained for the tasks of backward pushing a trailer and parallel parking maneuvers.

In this study, we compared four expert graders with latent semantic analysis (LSA) to assess short summaries of an expository text. As is well known, there are technical difficulties for LSA to establish a good semantic representation when analyzing short texts. In order to improve the reliability of LSA relative to human graders, we analyzed three new algorithms by two holistic methods used in previous research (Leon, Olmos, Escudero, Canas, & Salmeron, 2006). The three new algorithms were (1) the semantic common network algorithm, an adaptation of an algorithm proposed by W Kintsch (2001, 2002) with respect to LSA as a dynamic model of semantic representation;(2) a best-dimension reduction measure of the latent semantic space, selecting those dimensions that best contribute to improving the LSA assessment of summaries (Hu, Cai, Wiemer-Hastings, Graesser, & McNamara, 2007);and (3) the Euclidean distance measure, used by Rehder et al. (1998), which incorporates at the same time vector length and the cosine measures. A total of 192 Spanish middle-grade students and 6 experts took part in this study. They read an expository text and produced a short summary. Results showed significantly higher reliability of LSA as a computerized assessment tool for expository text when it used a best-dimension algorithm rather than a standard LSA algorithm. The semantic common network algorithm also showed promising results.

This book is the result of a successful special session on constraint-handling techniques used in evolutionary algorithms within the Congress on Evolutionary Computation (CEC) in 2007, with the aim of putting together recent studies on constrained numerical optimization using evolutionary algorithms and other bio-inspired approaches. The book covers six main topics: The first two chapters refer to swarm- intelligence-based approaches. Differential evolution, a very competitive evolutionary algorithm for constrained optimization, is studied in the next three chapters. Two different constraint-handling techniques for evolutionary multiobjective optimization are presented in the two subsequent chapters. Two hybrid approaches, one with a combination of two nature-inspired heuristics and the other with the mix of a genetic algorithm and a local search operator, are detailed in the next two chapters. Finally, a constraint-handling technique designed for a real-world problem and a survey on artificial immune system in constrained optimization are the subjects of the final two chapters. This paper mainly discuss related algorithm of avoid congestion in the area of congestion control agreement on TCP protocol. It has also illuminated in condition of network congestion, the service quality significance of improving network according to the influence of grouping overlap transmission mechanism by the overtime. Via to research and analysis of traditional rapid overlap transmission mechanism and algorithm, it bring forward new solution based on this. Compared to experiments, the improved slow start and congestion avoidance algorithm can not only better settle congestion question but also make better use of network resource and improve the whole performance of network.
