This book constitutes the proceedings of the Second Enterprise Engineering Working Conference (EEWC), held in Delft, The Netherlands, during May 7-8, 2012. EEWC aims at addressing the challenges that modern and complex enterprises are facing in a rapidly changing world. The participants of the working conference share a belief that dealing with these challenges requires rigorous and scientific solutions, focusing on the design and engineering of enterprises. The goal of EEWC is to stimulate interaction between the different stakeholders, scientists as well as practitioners, interested in making enterprise engineering a reality.
The eight papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in the book. EEWC 2012 had 20 submissions and accepted eight for publication. The topics of the presented papers allowed for active participation in interesting discussions and exchange of ideas and stimulated future cooperation among the participants. This made EEWC a real ‘working conference’ contributing to the further development of enterprise engineering as a mature discipline. Topics covered include: foundations of enterprise engineering; enterprise control, flexibility and governance and specifying value.

This book contains the extended and revised versions papers from the Second International Symposium on Business Modeling and Software Design (BMSD 2012), held in Geneva, Switzerland, in July 2012, organized and sponsored by the Interdisciplinary Institute for Collaboration and Research on Enterprise Systems and Technology (IICREST), in cooperation with the Center for Telematics and Information Technology (CTIT), the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC), and Technical University of Sofia. The theme of BMSD 2012 was "From Business Modeling to Service-Oriented Solutions".
The 7 papers presented in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 46 submissions. Each paper was reviewed by at least two internationally known experts from the BMSD Program Committee. The papers focus on business models, service engineering, and information systems architectures.

The 30 papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 67 submissions. The book is structured in six parts, each featuring contributions describing current research in a particular domain of service science: Service Design and Innovation; Smart Service Processes; Big data in Services; Service Topics Open Exploration; Design Science Research in Services. The book offers an extended, ICT-focused vision on services and addresses multiple relevant aspects, including underlying business models, the necessary processes and technological capabilities like big data and machine learning. The academic work showcased at the conference should help to advance service science and its appl.cation in practice.

As future generation information technology (FGIT) becomes specialized and fr- mented, it is easy to lose sight that many topics in FGIT have common threads and, because of this, advances in one discipline may be transmitted to others. Presentation of recent results obtained in different disciplines encourages this interchange for the advancement of FGIT as a whole. Of particular interest are hybrid solutions that c- bine ideas taken from multiple disciplines in order to achieve something more signi- cant than the sum of the individual parts. Through such hybrid philosophy, a new principle can be discovered, which has the propensity to propagate throughout mul- faceted disciplines. FGIT 2009 was the first mega-conference that attempted to follow the above idea of hybridization in FGIT in a form of multiple events related to particular disciplines of IT, conducted by separate scientific committees, but coordinated in order to expose the most important contributions. It included the following international conferences: Advanced Software Engineering and Its appl.cations (ASEA), Bio-Science and Bio-Technology (BSBT), Control and Automation (CA), database Theory and appl.cation (DTA), D- aster Recovery and Business Continuity (DRBC; published independently), Future G- eration Communication and Networking (FGCN) that was combined with Advanced Communication and Networking (ACN), Grid and Distributed Computing (GDC), M- timedia, computer Graphics and Broadcasting (MulGraB), Security Technology (SecTech), Signal processing, Image processing and Pattern Recognition (SIP), and- and e-Service, Science and Technology (UNESST).
