Modern developments in computer hardware and software for the business world have been adapted to allow the partially sighted and blind to participate successfully in computer usage in education, employment and recreation. Adaptations such as the enlargement of the whole screen display, production of enlarged print and voice output of screen contents can assist the partially sighted. Conversion of computer screen information into speech or braille can be used in conjunction with sound boards and touch pads to allow the totally blind access to the exact spatial layout of screen contents. Optical character recognition devices whereby the printed page can be accessed by computer, and recent voice recognition techniques which allow a computer to interpret voiced commands, can also be used to assist the totally blind. Developments in these areas are discussed together with specific examples of equipment now available which make use of the various methods described.

This study examined the effect of Augmented Reality and QR Code Integration on achievements and views of undergraduate students taking computer course. Study group of the research included 50 voluntary students taking compulsory computer course studying in the department of Guidance and Psychological Counseling at Near East University. Experimental research design was used in the study. In the beginning of the term, students were seperated into two groups including experimental and control group consisting of 25 students in each group. Pre-test was administered to the two groups in the first lecture and lecture was given with traditional methods, computer features were defined and functions of computer features were explained to the 1st group. Three-dimensional images of hardware features in the hardware chapter of computer course were explained through augmented reality and QR technology in laboratory environment with computer, projection and voice systems to the 2nd group. Students examined computer hardware with QR code cards and augmented reality technology during the lecture from their own mobile devices and all lectures were given by this way until the end of the semester. At the end of the term, post-test was administered to the experimental and control group and a questionnaire related with augmented reality and computer hardware course application with QR code integration was also applied to the experimental group. Results obtained from the study revealed that achievement level of experimental group is higher. In this context, results showed that computer hardware course application with augmented reality and QR code integration has a positive effect on academic achievements of students and students have positive views towards this course. Based on the results, it is expected that method used in this study might contribute to the integration of technology into education and therefore technology and education could support each other. The paper introduces a criterion for test generation based on minimising the expected magnitude of undetected errors. This criterion is used to develop a best strategy for testing, using the linear checks approach. The detailed analysis is carried out for single unidirectional and bidirectional errors and for multiple unidirectional errors. Specific results concerning the efficiency of the approach are given for basic arithmetical and logical instructions. This approach may be useful in the field testing of hardware which carries out data manipulation and in which small numerical errors can be tolerated; it may also be useful for testing digital transmission channels.

It can be difficult to motivate students to learn about computer hardware because students find the subject rather dry and theoretical. We have prepared a series of interesting projects that give students a hands-on introduction to computer hardware and organisation. Our projects, designed around the PIC16F84, a powerful 8-bit microcontroller chip that sells for less than $10, are suitable for classroom use in introductory-level courses about computer hardware. Their effectiveness has been evaluated both formally by students and informally through discussion within the teaching team. Feedback from students indicates that both development and implementation were successful. This paper describes the projects completed to date, their overall effectiveness and our plans for further projects.

The present and possible future trends in development of computer hardware and system software for computer-intensive applications of computer-aided analysis and design are analyzed. An overview of the emerging products in each class of computers is presented, the authors' view of prospects of development of hardware and software products of interest to the CAD market is given, and hints for performance evaluation are provided. Defects produced by ionizing radiation are smaller than a micrometer and are unobservable in an optical microscope. An atomic force microscope was utilized to reveal their counts and structure in common materials like mica, silicon, organic solids, polymers, sugar, quartz, and calcite. A magnetic force microscope has shown the damage of radiation on computer hard disks. The present work shows that exposure to radioactive material leaves a permanent record, which can be read for dosimetric or forensic purposes by using atomic force microcopy on common objects or a magnetic force microscope on magnetic media.

Failure analysis was conducted on two failed electronic cards from the computer Center of the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research. The results of the elemental analysis indicated that the corrosion product film found on contact pins and soldered through holes was composed of copper and sulphur compounds. Chemical analysis of the air in the computer room indicated a high level of nitrogen oxide (up to 300 ppb), whereas other gases such as H2S and SO2 were below the detectable limits (100 and 200 ppb respectively) of the analytical technique used. It was concluded that the initial high relative humidity 75%) had synergised with the strongly oxidising nitrogen oxide and H2S and/or SO2 to bring about the corrosion of copper substrate in 'bare spots' or gaps in the soldered contacts, causing card failure. It was concluded that efficient air filters should be utilised in the computer environment, as an electronic equipment can be damaged by levels of pollutant gases 10 times lower than those cited for human safety requirements.

With the continuous optimization and development of teaching methods in the information age, smart education has gradually entered people's field of vision. This paper is based on the advantageous characteristics of the smart educational environment, or designing the teaching mode of intelligent learning. Twenty freshmen in education technology profession were used as teaching research objects, and the information-based intelligent device (tablet) was used as the learning tool. The ARA software developed by the team based on the learning tool was used to assist the teaching, and then the teacher used the electronic interactive whiteboard for feedback to the students (incomprehensible and error-prone knowledge). After class, the computer hardware is virtually assembled, which further strengthens and consolidates the basic concepts and features of each part of the hardware. The research results showed that the independent inquiry learning, cooperation exchange, and interactive feedback in the context of smart learning were conducive to the optimization of the learning process. Most students could master the key knowledge of common computer hardware in time. Students could be successfully installed on the virtual machine motherboard, and they also interacted effectively with students and teachers. Under this teaching mode, students' learning enthusiasm, participation and interest level have improved significantly.
