Innovative numerical approach was employed to demonstrate nanofluid MHD flow through a porous enclosure. To model porous medium, Darcy law has been employed. Radiation impact was included in energy equation. The new method (CVFEM) has been employed due to complex shape of porous cavity. Aluminium oxide with different shapes was dispersed in to water. Viscosity of nanofluid changes with Brownian motion impacts. Roles of radiation, buoyancy and Hartmann number on treatment of alumina were displayed. Magnetostratigraphy is a powerful tool to provide absolute dating of sediments enabling robust and detailed chronostratigraphic correlations. It is based on the correlation of a magnetic polarity column, observed and measured in a given sediment section, to a magnetic polarity reference scale where polarity changes are well dated via other independent methods. However, magnetostratigraphic correlations are loose as they are only constrained by binary magnetic chrons (i.e. normal or reversal) and their thickness, which are both defined from depth variations of the magnetic remanent directions. The thickness of a given magnetic polarity zone is a function of time and sediment accumulation rate, which may not be stationary, leading to ambiguities when performing the correlations. To address these ambiguities, a numerical method based on the Dynamic Time Warping algorithm is proposed. Magnetostratigraphic correlations are computed in order to minimise the local variation of the accumulation rate. The main advantage of the proposed method is to automatically provide a set of reasonably likely correlations. This set can then be scrutinised for further analysis and interpretation. However, the likelihood of a correlation should be handled carefully as it depends on the information content of the magnetostratigraphic section itself and remain ultimately valid by ancillary constraint. Nevertheless, the method gives consistent results on difficult synthetic cases that simulate abrupt variations of the sedimentation rate. In this paper we present a new computational method leading to the identification of a new property in the plant microRNAs. This property which is based on the circular code information is then used to detect microRNAs in plants. The common C-3 circular code X is a set of 20 trinucleotides identified in the reading frames of both eukaryotic and prokaryotic genes allowing retrieval of any frame in genes, locally anywhere in the three frames (reading frame and its two shifted frames) and automatically with the same window length of 13 nucleotides in each frame. This code X is detected around the beginning of microRNAs. This method based only on the internal structure of genes, i.e. the circular code, allows sensible and precise microRNA site identification in precursor microRNAs with a sliding window of only 14 nucleotides. The purpose of this study was to validate the accuracy, consistency, and reproducibility/reliability of a new method for correction of pelvic tilt and rotation of radiographic hip parameters for pincer type of femoroacetabular impingement on an anteroposterior pelvic radiograph. Thirty cadaver hips and 100 randomized, blinded AP pelvic radiographs were used for investigation. To detect the software accuracy, the calculated femoral head coverage and classic hip parameters determined with our software were compared to reference measurements based on CT scans or conventional radiographs in a neutral orientation as gold standard. To investigate software consistency, differences among the different parameters for each cadaver pelvis were calculated when reckoned back from a random to the neutral orientation. Intra- and interobserver comparisons were used to analyze the reliability and reproducibility of all parameters. All but two parameters showed a good-to-very good accuracy with the reference measurements. No relevant systematic errors were detected in the Bland-Altman analysis. Software consistency was good-to-very good for all parameters. A good-to-very good reliability and reproducibility was found For a substantial number of the evaluated radiographic acetabular parameters. The software appears to be an accurate, consistent, reliable, and reproducible method for analysis of acetabular pathomorphologies. (C) 2008 Orthopaedic Research Society. An algorithm is presented to calculate the point on the surface of a sphere maximising the great-circle distance to a given spherical polygon. This is used to calculate the spots furthest from the sea in major land masses, also known as Poles of Inaccessibility (PIA), a concept that has raised the interest of explorers. For the Eurasian pole of inaccessibility (EPIA), the results reveal a misplacement in previous calculations ranging from 156 to 435 kin. Although in general there is only one pole for a given coastline, the present calculations show that, within the error inherent to the definition of the coastline, two locations are candidates for EPIA, one equidistant from Gulf of Ob, Gulf of Bengal and Arabian Sea, and the other equidistant from Gulf of Ob, Gulf of Bengal and Gulf of Bohai, both poles being located in the north westernmost Chinese province of Xinjiang. The distance to the sea at these locations is 2510 and 2514 kin respectively, about 120 km closer than generally thought.

For a uniform circular shaft carrying multiple concentrated elements (such as rotary inertias and/or torsional springs) with arbitrary magnitudes and locations, a lot of existing techniques may be used to obtain its "approximate" natural frequencies and mode shapes, but this is not true for the "exact" solutions. The purpose of this paper is to present some information in this aspect. Because the classical analytical method is lengthy and tedious for the title problem if the total number of the attached concentrated elements is larger, this paper adopts the numerical assembly method (NAM) to tackle the problem. In which, the "left" side and the "right" side of each attaching point together with the "left" end and the "right" end of a uniform circular shaft are considered as the nodal points, the associated integration constants are considered as nodal displacements and each of the associated coefficient matrices is considered as the element stiffness matrix of a shaft element, then the assembly technique of the direct stiffness matrix method for the conventional finite element method (FEM) is used to obtain the "overall" coefficient matrix [B]. Any trial value of omega(j) that renders the value of the determinant vertical bar B vertical bar vanishes denoting one of the eigenvalues of the uniform circular shaft carrying multiple concentrated elements, and the substitution of the associated integration constants into the relevant eigenfunctions determines the corresponding mode shape. To confirm the reliability of the presented algorithm, all the numerical results obtained from the NAM were compared with the corresponding ones obtained from the published literature or the FEM and good agreement was achieved. Electrical properties of discontinuous Pt, Cu and Al films were examined. The temperature dependencies of resistance were measured in vacuo in situ for examined films. Structural examinations of the films were conducted by means of electron microscope. Making use of the micrographs and the measured data the dependencies log(R) versus coverage coefficient are presented for selected temperature. To explain the experimental results, especially in the percolation threshold interval, the resistances of discontinuous Pt, Cu and Al films were calculated using a computer method which includes such mechanisms as a substrate conduction, metal conduction, thermally activated tunnelling and quantum tunnelling. Using the computer method, the relationship between log(R) and coverage coefficient were calculated. It was found the qualitative agreement between measured and calculated data. This paper illustrates the application of the theory presented in "Strength Design of Pretensioned Flexural Concrete Members at Prestress Transfer," published in the January-February 2601 PCI JOURNAL. That paper recommended that working stress design of prestressed members at time of transfer of prestress to concrete be replaced with strength design. This paper shows how this theory could be implemented using a standard spreadsheet program,, such as,Microsoft Excel. A parametric study justifying relaxation of the load and resistance factors proposed in the earlier paper is summarized. Applications to standard products such as I-beams, inverted tee beams and double tee products are given.
