computer technology is an important auxiliary means and has been widely used in urban and rural planning and architectural design. This paper combines computer-aided design technology with the sustainable development of traditional villages to explore Shenjiang village. It collects data through field research and digitizes the spatial elements of traditional villages by using software such as TArch, Sketchup, Photoshop,and so on. Afterwards, the author set up a computer model to try to provide a visual data model for the spatial renewal and development of traditional villages. Conclusions of this article are as follows: Firstly, the application of computer aided design in the study of traditional village space tends to elaborate analysis and calculation. Secondly, the construction of digital model is beneficial to the development of visualization technology in the study of sustainable development of traditional villages. Thirdly, the computer aided design provides the measure and strategy of the earlier period reference and the plan improvement for the sustainable development of the traditional village.

Participatory design (PD) is a research approach to the development of technological solutions to real-world problems, an approach that shares many concerns and some of its roots with action research. In this article, the authors discuss their experience in conducting a PD research project intended to develop a technological and a related organizational intervention to support the treatment of foot ulcers for people with diabetes at home. They provide a historical overview of the PD approach and a description of how they used it in their research study. They describe their experience in conducting the research, including the participants' responses, the outcomes of the research, and the challenges confronted in bridging the practical and disciplinary issues that arose. In the conclusion, they propose that PD holds potential as a research approach that might effectively merge computer technology and health-related interventional research.

This paper explores certain possible reasons behind the uneasy relationship between women and technology. The cultural identification of technology with masculinity has been well documented through previous research. However, we feel it is useful to revisit this complex relationship through the scope of a more subtle distinction between 'users' and 'connoisseurs', and the struggle over power, which revolves around a specific form of hegemonic masculinity. We draw on interviews that examine students' experiences, emotions, and statements about gender, technology, mathematics, and education, and we try to offer an understanding of the ways women negotiate their position within the dominant discourse about computing and mathematics. Our analysis employs post-structuralist discourse theory.

This study assessed the possibility of enabling two students with multiple disabilities to request and choose among environmental stimuli through microswitch and computer technology. Each student was provided with two basic microswitches the activation of which made a computer system present a sample of a preferred or non-preferred stimulus. The student could select or reject such a stimulus by vocal utterances discriminated by the computer system as 'yes' or 'no'. If the student selected the stimulus, the computer system presented it for a preset time. If the student rejected the stimulus, the computer system waited for the next input of one of the basic microswitches. Data showed that both students learned to activate the basic microswitches consistently, selected the preferred stimuli about 90% of the times, and largely rejected the non-preferred stimuli. The students also showed some preferences between the two basic microswitches/ responses. The performance was maintained at the post-intervention checks carried out 3 and 6 weeks after the end of the intervention. Implications of the findings are discussed technically, practically, and in terms of quality of life. (c) 2006 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

By drawing support from advanced management technology and modernized information exchange network, logistics centers have effectively connected production and consumption altogether, making all goods circulating under an efficient, harmonious and ordered state, which in return achieved best commercial efficiency and social efficiency. Currently, logistics management software is far from enough to satisfy customers' needs, and still remains on the level of purchase, sales and inventory management. This research is conducted in allusion to the actual situation of China's information-based logistics industry, with the objective to improve modem management level of logistics industry. According to the demands of domestic logistics enterprises, we employed OLAP technology for data processing, and data mining technology in decision-making analysis, which realized information-based management in logistics centers. On this basis, we realized basic purchase, sales and inventory management. KIDEA is an interactive learning media solution to improve life skills using Kinect sensor solution that allows users to interact with computers through a natural user interface in the form of movement and sound. Thus, KIDEA would be appropriate to be applied to the development of the brain and nervous suggesting motor movement in children. The KIDEA main objective is to provide media learning of fundamental life skill for children with intellectual disability. With the method of play therapy, it's easier to understand for children with intellectual disability and made them feel happy doing learning through games. The Digital Divide originates with inequalities in children's access to computers. It is deepened by disparities in teacher readiness to use computers for educational purposes. This article describes a computer training program designed to help Head Start teachers develop attitudes, skills, and practices that maximize the educational benefits children gain from computer use in the classroom. Guided by a set of pedagogical principles, the training program achieved its goals. Program teachers gained more confidence, developed more sophisticated computer skills, and applied more extensive classroom practices than teachers who did not participate in the program. Lessons learned from the training program point to key issues in supporting early childhood teacher development in computer technology. Corresponding recommendations for program design are discussed.
