The study characterizes CASE as an organizational innovation. Some unavoidable organizational effects at different organizational levels, either anticipated or unintended, were taken into consideration. Considering CASE as an evolutionary concept and its potential for profound effect on the IS organization, the authors reviewed existing literature and found a strong need to develop an organizational model to capture the characteristics of Information Systems Development and Management (ISD&M) activities under a CASE implementation context. Thus, a two-level control systemic framework is proposed to prescribe both the bureaucratic and professional nature of ISD&M and lay a foundation for the theoretical analyses of CASE adoption and implementation. These analyses help diagnose problems at the different organizational levels within the ISD&M context, and are necessary for successful implementation of CASE.< >

In our contribution the acquired experiences by developing of a computer aided software engineering (CASE) tool concept are described. The tool is named ASET (Automated softwareengineering Tool). The roost important feature of ASET is the covering of most phases of software life cycle. In the paper, the assortment of formal methods is founded, on which the fundamental rules on the tool are based. ASET is foreseen for the developing of the program systems, realized with the procedural languages and optionally with the data base support. A nonprocedural fifth generation language is used for the accomplishment of some components of the tool. Special attention is paid to the dialogue with the user.

The Recursive Multi-Threaded (RMT) software life-cycle is demonstrated and the implemented computer aided software engineering tool based on RMT is presented. The RMT tool supports the monitoring of progress during development, addresses the specific needs of the developing object-oriented software, and attempts to resolve deficiencies found in many existing software life cycles. It uses a `thread' for partitioning and organizing software development activities. Threads support iteration and recursion which are critical concepts for the development of the software.

In flight critical, software intensive, avionics systems, a major technical and managerial component is the testing and analysis of the developed software. In many of these systems the software must be "ultra-reliable" (work the first time and every time) and produced within schedule and budget. In this paper, we will examine how an existing successful software verification and validation project incorporated commercial computer aided software engineering (CASE) tools. The paper examines the original approach, how CASE and new tool concepts have been incorporated within this approach, and some observed impacts to cost and quality. A final section identifies the challenges that were faced during development of the test system.
