computer architecture is considered one of the dry and hard-to-learn courses for students in the computer science discipline. Therefore, educational institutions experiment with different pedagogical approaches to enhance students' performance and interest in courses. This study introduces a Simplified Approach to Teach a Processor (SAtTaP), a reformed version of the computer architecture course. The study aims to confirm that the proposed simplified approach, SAtTaP, enhances students' performance and interest in the courses. Data was collected through multiple methods including an online survey based on the Technology Acceptance Model, students' interviews, and students' grades obtained in pre and post-implementation of the SAtTaP. The study participants were students enrolled in an undergraduate program in computer science discipline at the University of Bari, Italy. The data was analyzed using SmartPLS and NVivo. The data analysis shows that the students were delighted and interested in the computer architecture course when taught using the SAtTaP. Furthermore, by comparing the grades of pre and post-implementation of the SAtTaP, an improvement in the student's performance and a decrease in the failure rate were found. The study's findings have the potential to inform and shape the way computer science is taught and learned in higher education, with potential benefits for both students and educators.

Purpose - The internet growth has created a new scientific communication system with new facilities that are competing with the traditional sources of information. The present study investigated impact of internet use on academic performance of teachers and researcher in university setup. The aim of this paper is to find out how these academics use internet sources and services? What is the user's satisfaction level with internet sources and services? And what problems has the user encountered when searching the information on the internet. It further aims to know how the user compares the internet sources with traditional information sources. Design/methodology/approach - Questionnaires were distributed to randomly selected teachers and researchers in Kuvempu University, Karnataka state. Total 200 questionnaires were distributed out of which 140 duly filled questionnaires were returned. The questionnaire consisted of various questions which are designed for the teachers and researchers to elicit the impact of internet use on their academic performance. Findings - This study has demonstrated the high use of the internet sources and services by teachers and researchers in university setup. Most of them used internet in support of their study and teaching. Majority of respondents learnt to use the internet through self-instruction and trial and error, with the help of friends and by reading books or papers. Study results also indicated that internet has made an impact on their academic performance (i.e. in writing more research papers, in doing better research, better learning experience, etc.). Originality/value - This is the comprehensive study on the impact of internet sources and services on the academic performance of teachers and researchers in the university environment. Findings of the study will be helpful to university authority to enhance the internet facilities for effective and efficient use by the teachers and researchers. The study also suggested that t

since the innovation of computers some 40 years ago and the introduction of microcomputers in 1975, computers are playing an active role in education processes and altering the pattern of interaction between teacher and student in the classroom. computer assisted learning has been seen as a revolution in education. In this research, the author has studied the impact of using microcomputers on mathematical education, particularly at the Hong Kong tertiary level, in different perspectives. Two computer software packages have been developed on the microcomputer. The consideration of the topic to be used in the computer assisted learning was arrived at in earlier surveys with students who thought that computers could give very accurate solutions to calculations. The two software packages, demonstrating on the spot the error that would be incurred by the computer, have been used by the students. They are both interactive and make use of the advantages of the microcomputer's functions over other teaching media, such as graphics facility and random number generator, to draw to the students' attention awareness of errors that may be obtained using computers in numerical solutions. Much emphasis is put on the significance and effectiveness of using computer packages in learning and teaching. Measurements are based on questionnaires, conversations with students, and tests on content material after the packages have been used. Feedback and subjective opinion of using computers in mathematical education have also been obtained from both students and other teachers. The research then attempts to examine the suitability of applying computer assisted learning in Hong Kong education sectors. Some studies on the comments made by students who participated in the learning process are undertaken. The successes and failures in terms of student accomplishment and interest in the subject area as a result of using a software package is described. Suggestions and recommendations are given i

At the end of 1983 the Ministry of Education in Fiji informed schools that computers would be introduced in 1984. In February 1984 some selected schools received the first microcomputers. At a Conference on computers in the Classroom, held in August 1984 at the University of the South Pacific. the Head of Mathematics at a senior secondary school said, in a paper presented at the conference: 'while there may have been some pre-planning at headquarters level it seems that no arrangement was made with individual schools.....' Amongst the problems highlighted in the paper by the Head of Mathematics was: 'the difficulty in deciding on a suitable type programme to offer to the students._.' This thesis primarily concerns the application of microcomputers in teaching mathematics in Fiji. The author's experience shows that teachers in Fiji are aware of the need to respond to the microcomputer technology but this response is restricted due to the almost total lack of staff with even a basic knowledge of computers. Before any significant progress can be made in specific areas such as mathematical education the problem of teacher training needs to be addressed. Mathematics can make contributions in all areas and levels of education. Many areas of the curriculum involve mathematics. A developing country like Fiji needs to consider priorities alongside applications when these concern new technologies such as computers. The assumption that computers enhance mathematics learning is made and the thesis investigates ways of implementing the technology in mathematics teaching as practised in Fiji. Due to the political situation in Fiji the investigation relies on the author's experience during the pre-military coup of 1987 there. and on consultations with some U. K. professionals particularly at Loughborough University of Technology. To address the demand for originality in a thesis, the problem of converting computer programs from one brand of hardware to another is discussed in deta
