Energy consumption of the wearable home-care monitoring systems is a major challenge due to the need for continuous remote monitoring of the patients. Choosing the appropriate communication protocol to reduce energy consumption of these systems is, therefore, a key parameter. Since the recent versions of the IEEE 802.15.1 (Bluetooth) protocol can potentially reduce energy consumption and provide a better coverage range, they are promising for wearable homecare monitoring systems (WHMS). On the other hand, a deep energy consumption analysis of these protocols for WHMS has not been thoroughly yet conducted. In this paper, using software and hardware-based energy monitoring platform, the energy consumption and maximum coverage of the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) V4.2 is experimentally evaluated in different homecare scenarios in which the wireless signal may travel through the wood, metal, brick wall, body, and similar obstacles. Our results show that the highest energy consumption of the BLE 4.2 occurs when there is a human body or brick wall obstacle between the transmitter and receiver. Our extensive experiments also reveal that the maximum effective coverage range of a BLE 4.2 enabled WHMS is 36m in line of sight scenarios which decline to around 25m and 18.5m when the signal travels through brick walls and the human body, respectively, which all these numbers are suitable for WHMS.

A multi-camera system combines features from different cameras to exploit a scene of an event to increase the output image quality. The combination of two or more cameras requires prior settings in terms of calibration and architecture. Therefore, this paper surveys the available literature in terms of multi-camera systems' physical arrangements, calibrations, algorithms, and their advantages and disadvantages. We also survey the recent developments and advancements in four areas of multi-camera system applications, which are surveillance, sports, education, and mobile phones. In the surveillance system, the combination of multiple heterogeneous cameras and the discovery of Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) and smart cameras have brought tremendous achievements in the area of multi-camera control and coordination. Different approaches have been proposed to facilitate effective collaboration and monitoring among the camera network. Furthermore, the application of multi-cameras in sports has made the games more interesting in the aspect of analyses and transparency. The application of the multi-camera system in education has taken education beyond the four walls of the class. The method of teaching, student attendance enrollment, determination of students' attention, teacher and student assessment can now be determined with ease, and all forms of proxy and manipulation in education can be reduced by using a multi-camera system. Besides, the number of cameras featuring on smartphones is gaining noticeable recognition. However, most of these cameras serve different purposes, from zooming, telephoto, and wider Field of View (FOV). Therefore, future smartphones should be expecting more cameras or the development would be in a different direction.

monitoring Health Status in Long Term Care Through the Use of Ambient Technologies and Serious Games

New technologies, such as serious games and ambient activities, are being developed to address problems of under-stimulation, anxiety, and agitation in millions of people living with dementia in long term care homes. Frequent interactions with instrumented versions of these technologies may not only be beneficial for long term care residents, but may also provide a valuable new set of multifaceted data related to the health status of residents over time. In this paper, we develop a model for health monitoring in healthcare environments and we report on two studies that show how medically relevant data can be collected from elderly residents and emergency department patients in an unobtrusive way. The first study shows how data related to cognitive abilities can be collected from elderly emergency department patients and the second study shows how detailed data on a range of factors can be collected from ambient activity units designed to provide engaging interactions for long term care residents. In summary, this paper proposes the use of new technologies to transform long term care from a data poor to a data rich environment, where the health status of long term care residents and elderly patients is more closely monitored.

The recent trends in the variations of climatic conditions are drastic throughout the world and furthermore its growing unpredictability is a major concern. The existing solutions are highly global and are inaccessible to the common man. The weather conditions applicable to a city may not be as such for a farmer of small rural region or a worker of a small town. Hence, humidity and temperature measurement plays an important role in different fields like Agriculture, Science, Engineering and Technology. The proposed work provides an optimal solution for monitoring the weather conditions at extremely local level with low cost, compact Internet of Things (IoT) based system. In this paper the design of the system is presented with the use of Node MCU for realizing the low cost solution. This low cost weather station is a product equipped with instruments and sensors for measuring the atmospheric conditions like temperature, humidity, wing speed, wind direction for the purpose of making weather forecasts. With IoT enabling, weather station is able to upload, without any human intervention, the measured atmospheric parameters i.e. temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction to the IoT cloud. From the cloud user can access all the atmospheric parameters being measured through weather station from any location across the world from any connected device - laptop or mobile phone. The “Low cost Compact IoT enabled Weather Station” need not to be physically visited to read out the measured atmospheric parameters and thus does not have any display which also makes it power efficient running at only 80mA to 90mA.

This paper is about the development of mobile app for integrated control and real time monitoring of smart fish farm based on IoT. Water processing had controlled an important role in the recirculating smart fish farm. The proposed smart fish farm consists of Water Tank1, Water Tank2, Balancing Tank and RAS. In this aquaculture the water flow process is regulated by the PID controller along with water level ultrasonic sensors, water temperature sensors, DO and pH sensors. The sensors data were collected and stored in the lab servers as big data. This designed aquaculture system operates on manual mode, automatic mode and remote mode by using mobile. To verify the performance of the designed system, the field tests were conducted in Future Creative Technology Research Institute of Busan University of Foreign Studies. It was satisfied the performance of smart fish farm.

A low-cost customizable PC-based power quality analyzer is proposed. It consists of a data acquisition unit built using a ARM microcontroller, which performs measurement functions and primary filtering and processing of the voltage and current signals, and can either transmit data to computer via virtual serial port and/or store the measurement results to a flash SD memory card for subsequent processing and analysis. The data acquisition unit has built-in real-time clock (RTC), can operate in autonomous mode, without PC connection. It is possible to define software triggers for start/stop recording conditions, including recording in specified periods of time (using RTC). For convenience, 4 discrete inputs were added with universal operating voltage range (24...220 V AC/DC) to allow recording triggering by external signal. The objective was to built a low-cost system, so data acquisition unit has no display; to reduce gain and phase errors of current clamps, a negative impedance converters were used as their loads; furthermore, an additional software filtering is performed to compensate for residual errors. A simple software for PC was also developed to allow simple signal processing and ability to export signal data to MathCad for further analysis.

monitoring is a foundation for network management. Timely and accurate network statistics is essential to critical network management task, such as traffic engineering, service-level agreement (SLA), anomaly detection and troubleshooting. However, in traditional networks, monitoring is difficult to achieve due to the lack of support by the equipment. Recently, software defined network (SDN) separates the network control plane from the data forwarding plane, and manages the network by the centralized controller which can access the underlying device data flexibly. In this paper, a Software-Defined Networks monitoring tools-SCSCDaylight is implemented based on opendaylight, which is an open source SDN controller platform. The tools support network topology partition, multiple controller collaboration, two-way link speed and packet loss rate measurement. And the network simulation is used to evaluate this system. The experimental results show that the tools can accurately implement the measurement of link speed and packet loss rate.

Air has an important function and role in the lives of humans and other living beings. Every living things needs clean air to support its life optimally, its quality needs to be maintained. A good and healthy level of air quality is one of the main factors in creating a healthy and comfortable environment if the air quality is bad then there will be pollution that will interfere with the health of every population that inhaled. In this research, the author utilizes the Internet of Things (IoT) technology to monitor the condition of air quality levels such as temperature, air humidity, CO and CO2. The system uses ATmega328P-AU as a controller, DHT22 sensor for temperature and air humidity, MQ-7 sensor for CO gas, MQ-135 sensor for CO2 gas, LPWAN LoRa for data transmission communication and Antares as a cloud service for storing data to be displayed on Android. The test results obtained the average error value for temperatures ± 0.8 °C, humidity ± 3.1 % RH, CO ± 10 ppm and CO2 ± 16 ppm. The results of sensor data are stored in the Antares cloud and displayed on Android.

River water monitoring system is one of the efforts as a contribution to control the pollution and/or damage of the Citarum watershed in Indonesia based on Presidential Decree Number 15 of 2018. monitoring of Citarum River water quality is essential because it is to know its condition. Despite that, regular monitoring requires water samples to be taken to the laboratory to be tested. Therefore it is not real-time and wasteful of energy. In this paper, a design of IoT-based river water quality monitoring-system using LPWAN communication technology will be proposed so that monitoring points on the Citarum watershed can be monitored in real-time and the results of monitoring data will be stored in the server for data logging. A test about communication range is performed with four nodes and one gateway with LoRa transceiver paired with Arduino boards, as LPWAN communication method, to be able to exchange information in terms of hardware and implement network mesh topologies to widen monitoring points in terms of software. It is shown from the test result that the communication range for the transmission between node to node or node to gateway reaches a maximum of 500 m close on the surface of the water.

The Internet of Things based monitoring system will display temperature and humidity in the room using the Message Queue Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol. The mqtt protocol is one of the internet-based communication protocols, in this discussion trying to implement the mqtt protocol by transferring data consisting of temperature and humidity to be carried out in an experiment with room conditions made in such a way. Some experiments with cold, normal and hot conditions to determine whether the sensor can run well or whether the mqtt protocol can be applied. Temperature and humidity sensors DHT 11 will produce data in the form of temperature and humidity that will be connected to node MCU as a microcontroller that has access to connect data to the internet using a Wi-Fi network. The broker used is ***. The clients that can monitor temperature are a laptop and android, on a laptop using MQTT Box while on Android using the MQTT dashboard application. The data obtained will display 3 conditions of temperature and humidity, when cold conditions, the average value of temperature and humidity are 15.04°C and 69.39%. Normal conditions of average values of temperature and humidity are 31.31°c and 87.95%. Hot conditions average values of temperature and humidity are 40.65°C and 95%.
