Les systèmes informatiques sont les machines les plus générales, propres au traitement de l’information. Leur emploi, de plus en plus courant, conduit à ne considérer que des modèles constructifs, par opposition à certaines modélisations formelles ou mathématiques. La calculabilité et la programmabilité deviennent ainsi des facteurs essentiels au succès d’un modèle informatique. La nécessité d’échapper aux contraintes imposees par la complexité de calcul conduit à dégager des idées et des méthodes nouvelles, particulièrement mises en évidence dans les domaines de l’intelligence artificielle et de la reconnaissance des formes.

Cet article décrit les techniques de traitement des langues naturelles dans le cas du problème particulier de l’analyse de phrases. Après avoir tracé la structure générale d’une interface en langue naturelle, l’auteur en indique les avantages et les inconvénients, présente et compare ensuite les techniques disponibles dans les domaines de l’analyse lexicale, syntaxique et sémantique et de la représentation des connaissances. L’article se termine par une description sommaire des travaux en cours aucnet dans ce domaine.

Analyse Les auteurs décrivent une architecture parallèle rapide, de type statique, à commande dirigée par les données. Cette architecture à structure cellulaire, régulière et facile à intégrer constitue la base d’un opérateur de Riccati rapide (Orr)destiné à résoudre l’équation matricielle de Riccati. Afin d’évaluer les performances de cet opérateur, deux algorithmes de résolution, Lindquist et quasilinéarisation, ont été représentés par des réseaux de Pétri à flux de données, définis dans ce but, puis simulés. Les résultats de cette simulation ont été comparés aux besoins réels dans le cas de veille et de poursuite radar.

Objective: To evaluate the potential benefit of semiautomated localization of prostate cancer using clustering analysis on three-dimensional (3-D) contrast- enhanced power Doppler images. Methods: Thirty patients with biopsy-proven prostate cancer and scheduled for radical prostatectomy underwent a 3-D contrast- enhanced power Doppler scan prior to surgery. A 3-D ellipsoid model was manually fitted around the prostate. The model automatically divided the prostate into 12 zones. After calculation of a so-called clustering map, the clustering values of each zone were calculated. They were compared with whole-mount section histopathology. Region-of-interest (ROI) analysis was performed with bootstrapping to evaluate overall performance. Results: The ROI analysis yielded area under the curve (AUC) values of 0.65 with a corresponding standard error of 0.03. Conclusion: Semiautomatic localization based on clustering analysis of blood flow aids in localization of prostate tumors. A clustering map is an easy-to -interpret extension to standard power Doppler images.

The initiation/promotion standard protocol 28 (protocol 28), developed and used previously as an experimental model to verify the cancerogenic process of initiation/promotion in mouse skin, was revised in three aspects: (a) statistically it was shown sufficient to use, per promoter dose group, 16 colony-outbred femal NMRI mice: (b) by weekly individual records of tumor response (and health status) of each mouse in a dose group, cumulative tumor incidences (and mean and extreme body weights) are determined;from these data the collective records (tumor response, health status), the only data accessible from protocol 28, may be generated in addition;(c) the details of dose groups and all data on tumor response and health status are processed by computer using the program package PAPILLOM. The latter was developed specifically for this purpose, is written in the programming language APL and designed for easy handling by staff of animal laboratories. The program package calculates, from the individual records per promoter dose group, cumulative tumor incidences (and survival data) with confidence limits for any one exposure time, and the package may be linked to programs for statistical validations. In addition, from the collective records it calculates the tumor rates, tumor yields and survival rates for any one exposure time. These data, obtained by either of the standard protocols (16 or 28), are fully comparable. For pure compounds they may be used to calculate semiquantitative tumor-promoting potencies. These values for more than 80 polyfunctional diterpenes of the tigliane, ingenane and daphnane type, scattered in or calculated from previous papers, together with their irritancies, were compiled. Within recent years, computer-assisted standard protocol 16 has been used to handle and evaluate about 1000 promoter dose groups. Use of a simple semiquantitative method for appraisal of green fluorescent protein gene expression in transgenic tobacco plants

We have applied a simple method for evaluation of gfp gene expression in plants using a CCD camera and computerized processing of images. Transgenic tobacco plants were obtained by Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transfer of plasmid T-DNA bearing a m-gfp5-ER sequence governed by the 35S promoter together with the nptII selectable marker gene. Presence of the gfp gene in plants was confirmed by a polymerase chain reaction method. Mean brightness values measured using image analysis software showed differences between transgenic and control plants and suggest the possibility of rapid selection of transgenic individuals among regenerants and their progenies.

The authors present a project for the computerized evaluation of aerobiological data referred to the presence of allergenic pollens in the atmosphere, with the aim of the realization of a system of regional and national Data Banks, collecting and distributing the data surveyed by about 60 centers of aerobiological monitoring in Italy. The project, based on the use of P.C., is in advanced development and is articulated in a package of specific software, whose operative demonstration was presented during the 2nd National Congress of A.I.A. held at Capri in April 86. The paper describes in details the genesis of the project, the relative development lines and particulary the functions with which the management by a computer is provided, both for the single user, and for regional or national Data Banks, giving simplifications of the results which can be obtained (mostly as graphics) and technical information on the characteristics of the hardware needed, and also on the development and the modalities of acquisition of the specific software. © 1986 Kluwer Academic Publishers.
