computing technology is reshaping the way in which professionals in the architecture, engineering, and construction industries conduct their business. The execution of construction tasks is changing from traditional 2D to 3D building information modeling (BIM)-based concepts. The use of BIM is expanded and enriched by the introduction of advanced computing technologies. At the same time, the demands for graduates in construction management with basic computing technology skills are on the rise. One of the challenges of construction management (CM) programs is how to incorporate computing knowledge so that future graduates can gain more experience with it during their undergraduate education. This paper presents a case study on this topic from an undergraduate construction management course at Purdue University. The in-class exercises and project required the use of computing technologies (e.g., quantity takeoff software, scheduling software, and Python programming) in this case study. The performance of students was evaluated before and after the project and the exercises. The findings showed the benefits of incorporating computing into a construction management curriculum as follows: (1) introducing the students to the efficiency and accuracy of computing technologies in CM;and (2) improving students' knowledge and skills in computing technologies and professional software applications. Based on students' feedback, short-term (one-class-long) programming training during the semester and more detailed instructions for a project are needed improvements in this course. The practice in this study provides insights for other instructors seeking to include more computing technologies into CM courses.

The development of computing technology drives the changes in traditional service composition so that not only provides composite services according to requests from users, but must be able to meet the latest computing technology.. Today, mobile computing and cloud computing are the computing technologies that are closest to users. This paper analyzes the results of research to create services on the cellular and cloud computing domains that have been published in 2015-2018. Selection of appropriate operating conditions is an important attribute to pay attention for in electrical discharge machining (EDM) of steel parts. The achievement of EDM process is affected by many input parameters;therefore, the computational relations between the output responses and controllable input parameters must be known. However, the proper selection of these parameters is a complex task and it is generally made with the help of sophisticated numerical models. This study investigates the capacity of Adaptive Nero-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS), genetic expression programming (GEP) and artificial neural networks (ANN) in the prediction of EDM performance parameters. The datasets used in modelling study were taken from experimental study. According to the results of estimating the parameters of all models in the comparison in terms of statistical performance is sufficient, but observed that ANFIS model is slightly better than the other models.

The water level calculation technique is based on the capacitance measurement of a multi capacitor sensor partially immersed into the liquid. Every capacitance can be expressed from the mathematical point of view in terms of liquid column height by the geometrical parameters of every capacitor formed. The formula takes into consideration all parasitical effects due to geometrical limitations. The level is calculated using two different algorithms and the compared with a industrial level sensor and a ruler. A parallel finite element model (FEM) for the geopotential is implemented for fast, high fidelity orbit propagation. The FEM is a classical discrete Chebyshev polynomial approximation to solve for a piecewise approximation for the high-degree and order spherical harmonic gravity models by replacing the higher order perturbations in the spherical harmonic model (SHM) by a finite element model orthogonal approximation. Thus, much lower degree, locally valid, functions can be used to efficiently model and compute local gravity perturbations in parallel structure for efficient performance. The total gravity potential is split into a reference and disturbance term. The reference includes two-body plus J2, which are relatively cheap to compute, and the higher order gravity terms are considered perturbative. The FEM is developed from 2D mesh grid covering a sphere of specified radius. A large family of spherical shells is sampled using a cosine distribution in the radial direction. The FEM models are structured to render them radially adaptive, thus further reducing computational cost. This paper implements the parallel structure of the FEM using OpenMP. We show the run-time comparison for each of the algorithms as a function of the number of Chebyshev nodes used in the approximation. As expected, the SHM is the most expensive. Around 3X speed up gain of the parallel FEM compared to the serial computation using only 8 threads. While at least an order of magnitude speed up of the serial FEM compared with SHM.
