A reduced iterative decoder for power and bandwidth efficient serially concatenated continuous phase modulation (SCCPM) based on state fusing is proposed in this paper. The proposed algorithm is based on reduced state sequence detection (RSSD) used for CPM and applied to the inner CPM with finite state machine (FSM) structure. System design criterion and performance analysis are listed. Simulation results for binary 3RC signal with h=1/2 and quaternary 3RC signal with h=1/2 show that quaternary system provides better performance at the equivalent normalized double-sided bandwidth. The reduced iterative decoder of inner CPM with 4 states for binary 3RC CPM with h=1/2 is degraded by at most 0.2 dB with respect to its optimal 8 state decoder;the reduced iterative decoder of inner CPM with 16 states for quaternary 3RC CPM with h = 1/2 is degraded by at most 0.5 dB with respect to,its optimal 32 state decoder.

In this paper we study the use of a high rate Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) codes in concatenated coding structures. Specifically, we use the LDPC code as an outer code, with a convolutional code as an inner code. We decode the convolutional code using a symbol based Log-MAP (Maximum a posteriori probability) decoder, and feed the soft outputs of this decoder into a non-binary Galois Field LDPC decoder. We compare this concatenation scheme using 16 QAM modulation with one using a bit based Log-MAP decoder over Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) and Stanford University Interim (SUI-3) channel model. The new proposed decoding technique has shown improvements for both channel models.

Recently, a novel scheme for iterative multiuser detection and turbo decoding was proposed by Damnjanovic and Vojcic. In this scheme, multiuser detection and single-user turbo decoding are tightly coupled to maximize the overall gain. The extrinsic probabilities for the coded bits of the interfering users, obtained after each turbo decoding iteration, are used as a priori probabilities in the following multiuser iteration and the extrinsic information for the systematic bits of the desired user is used as a priori information in the next single-user turbo decoding iteration. Turbo decoding of parallel concatenated convolutional codes is carried out in parallel fashion. It has been shown that the proposed detector approaches the multiuser capacity limit within I dB in the low signal-to-noise ratio region. However, the main drawback of the scheme is its exponential complexity in the number of users, which is due to the complexity of the maximum a posteriori probability (MAP) multiuser detector. In this paper, we show that the complexity of the scheme can be significantly reduced by replacing the MAP multiuser detector with an iterative detector derived from the greedy multiuser detector proposed by AIRustamani and Vojcic. In this paper, we demonstrate that, for both the additive white Gaussian noise and the frequency-nonselective Rayleigh fading, the substantial reduction in complexity of the iterative scheme proposed by Damnjanovic and Vojcic when the greedy detector Is utilized introduces a slight degradation in performance;the loss in performance is less than or equal to 0.5 dB compared to MAP detector for systems with number of users double the spreading gain.

It has a larger impact on system performance, transmitting the different type data simultaneously when exchanging inter-satellite data. Inter-satellite laser link interface model (ILIM) is proposed to unify the transfer mode of optical satellite network and improve the data transmission efficiency. In inter-satellite communication, the satellite node has the downside of inefficient. Therefore, data frame adaptation unit is designed to integrate the data from different sources. It is feasible to add Link transmission processing unit (LTU) that tries to avoid reducing system efficiency which cause by random error in spatial channels, enhances the reliability of the laser link, and analyzes the applicability of ILIM for Relay Satellite System and Distributed Satellite System. The results show that the transmission efficiency promotes 34.04% and the system error correction performance improves 3.01dB after applying ILIM.

We investigate the performance of concatenated coding schemes based on Faster Than Nyquist (FTN) signaling over the AWGN channel. We test both serial and parallel concatenations. In serial concatenation the FTN signaling is considered as the inner encoder and the outer code is a rate b/c convolutional code. In parallel schemes we use two parallel Gaussian channels and transmit FTN pulse trains in both;here a precoding device turns out to be crucial. The convergence behaviour is analysed using EXIT charts. The overall spectral density of the schemes varies but is roughly 1-2 bit/s/Hz. The results, in terms of needed E-b/N-0 for reliable communication versus spectral density, are very good.

In what follows a modified version of a coded DHA FH OFDMA communication system that combines multi-tone transmission, reception based on order statistics and concatenated coding is proposed. It is demonstrated that the proposed approach outperforms conventional (single-tone) coded DHA FH OFDMA while having lower decoding complexity.

This article seeks to advance coded compressed sensing (CCS) as a practical scheme for unsourced random access. The CCS algorithm features a concatenated structure where an inner code is tasked with support recovery and an outer code conducts message disambiguation. Recently, the CCS scheme was improved through the use of approximate message passing (AMP) with a dynamic denoiser that shares soft information between the inner and outer decoders. This significantly improves performance at the cost of additional complexity. This work shows how the spatial coupling generated by the outer code is sufficiently strong to justify relaxing certain constraints on the inner code. It is shown that a block diagonal sensing matrix with the aforementioned dynamic denoiser forms an effective means to get good performance at reduced complexity. This novel architecture can be used to scale CCS to dimensions that were previously impractical. Findings are supported by numerical simulations.
