The factorial structure of the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale 10-item (K10) and 6-item (K6) has been explored, with conflicting findings across studies. Bifactor modelling has been applied to the K10, but not to the K6, which is commonly used in clinical and research settings;hence, exploring its dimensionality can demonstrate the utility of its subscales. The aim was to determine, using confirmatory factor analyses (CFA), whether the bifactor model of K6 is a suitable representation of psychological distress among a community-dwelling sample of adults living with severe and persistent mental illness. Randomised controlled trial participants (n = 335) completed the K6 at baseline (median score = 9/24). CFA of the various models were conducted with diagonally weighted least squares, mean and variance adjusted. The unidimensional model was rejected. The fit statistics for the correlated model and the higher-order model were identical and demonstrated comparative fit index and Tucker-Lewis index within range;however, the RMSEA values were outside the target. In the correlated model, the correlation between the factors was very high. The bifactor model had the best fit for the data. Inspection of the reliability indices from the bifactor model showed that the way participants responded to the K6 items was far more influenced by a general psychological distress factor compared with anxiety and depression factors. Tests of measurement invariance showed that participants interpreted K6 items consistently between genders but not between younger vs older age groups. Further research across larger, diverse populations should explore the suitability of suggested instrument modifications.

Introduction: We examined the factor structure of Acute Suicidal Affective Disturbance (ASAD) in individuals with eating disorders. ASAD is a proposed diagnosis with four symptoms: rapidly increasing suicidal intent, social or self-alienation, hopelessness regarding the previous symptoms, and overarousal. Methods: Patients with eating disorders (N = 378) completed self-report symptom questionnaires at admission to a partial hospitalization program for eating disorders. Using proxy measures, we conducted a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) of the one-factor model of ASAD. Results: Initial model fit was poor. We iteratively revised the model to include theoretically-justified correlated residuals (i.e., those between items intended to measure the same ASAD symptom). After these modifications, model fit remained mediocre. We next conducted a multiple-group CFA to compare ASAD between individuals with the restricting subtype of anorexia nervosa (the "ANR" model, n = 145) and individuals with binge/purge disorders (i.e., bulimia nervosa and the binge-purge subtype of anorexia nervosa;the "BP" model, n = 234). The final model had mediocre fit with partial invariance between subgroups;the ASAD factor mean was higher in the BP model. We additionally tested a bifactor model, with similar findings. Limitations: Our use of proxy measures of ASAD items may have resulted in imprecise measurement of ASAD symptoms, pointing to the importance of future research using validated measures of ASAD. Conclusions: We found moderate support for ASAD in an eating disorder sample, with invariance between eating disorder phe-notypes. Our findings suggest that the ASAD diagnosis may not fully generalize to eating disorder samples.

A short version of the Posttraumatic Growth Inventory (PTGI-SV) is described and examined in a sample of 436 U.S. parents who responded to an online cross-sectional survey about their well-being during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. The objective was to confirm a single-factor structure of the PTGI-SV as used to measure pandemic-related posttraumatic growth. Review of prior literature and theory suggested a unidimensional model and an asymptotically free-distribution estimation method for confirmatory factor analysis was most appropriate. A single-factor model with four error covariances acceptably fit the sample data. Limitations of the current study include sample homogeneity and operationalization differences between the PTGI-SV and the measure from which it was derived. Implications for future research, including item response theory and variance in the construct of compassion, are discussed.

The objective of this study was to determine the best-fit factor structure of a standardized hypnotizability measure in a clinical population. The Elkins Hypnotizability Scale (EHS) was administered to 173 post-menopausal women, age from 39 to 75 years, with a mean age of 54.61 years. confirmatory factor analysis was conducted, and comparative fit index (CFI) and root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA) were used to determine goodness of fit. Results indicated that the single-factor structure modeled with six indicators based on the individual items on the EHS provides the best description of fit. Results of the present study demonstrate that the EHS has a single-factor structure. Further research is required with other populations and measures. The aim of this study was to test a modified Spirituality and Spiritual Care Rating Scale (SSCRS) and report initial findings, based on a cross-sectional descriptive survey from eight nursing homes in the USA. This study examined the psychometric properties of a modified version of the SSCRS for assessing the perceptions of staff (i.e. nurses, rehabilitation staff, food and nutrition service staff, activities staff, social workers, and administrative staff) who work in nursing homes. The modified version of the SSCRS is measuring respondents’ perceptions of spirituality, spiritual care, religiosity, and personalized care. confirmatory factor analysis showed satisfactory goodness of fit for the original four-factor structure of the SSCRS. The modified version demonstrated good internal consistency and reliability (Cronbach’s alpha ranging from 0.71 to 0.90). Initial findings showed statistically significant differences across all four sub-scales. Further research is needed to psychometrically test the modified tool.

Research has shown that both religious music support (RMS) and religious commitment (RC) have a positive effect on health among older adults. Although their factor structure has been studied among Whites and African Americans, research has been limited among Latinos. Moreover, their role as predictors of self-esteem has also been limited. Thus, our study's objective was to examine the factor structure of these constructs and to determine whether they are predictors of self-esteem using items from the Religiosity, Spirituality, and Health amongst Latinos Survey (RSHLS). The RSHLS assessed 498 Latino adults in the United States who identified as Christian. confirmatory factor analysis was conducted as well as modification of indices. Also, a chi-squared test and global fit indices of the root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA) and comparative fit (CFI) were also analyzed. In addition, a full structural equation model was used to explore the relationship between RMS and RC as predictors of self-esteem while controlling for age and annual household income. All analyses used STATA 17. Results of this study showed that the factor structure of RMS and RC matched other demographic groups in the literature and that RC (b = 0.305, p < 0.05) was a significant predictor of self-esteem while controlling for age and annual household income. Moreover, global fit indices of RMSEA (0.039 < 0.05) and CFI (0.989 > 0.95) showed the model was a good fit. Overall, this, study found that the factor structure of RMS and RC among Latinos matched other demographic groups and that RC was a significant predictor of self-esteem while controlling for age and annual household income.

With the use of cyber-physical systems (CPS) advanced computational capabilities, the delivery of facilities management (FM) mandates are efficiently and effectively conducted. Since performance measurement is an important yardstick in ascertaining the outcome of FM approaches, this study assesses the performance measurement indicators that influence the uptake of CPS for FM functions. Using a structured questionnaire, data were collected from built environment professionals in the Gauteng province of South Africa. Data collected was analysed using a five-stage process which includes: data reliability and validity, descriptive statistics, establishing a difference in groups' opinion, principal component analysis, and model testing and fit statistics for confirmatory factor analysis. Results from the study indicate that three significant performance indicators are influential in determining the uptake of CPS for FM, which are operations efficiency, facility adaptation, and client's satisfaction. The study contributes immensely to the body of knowledge. It unveils the significant performance measurement indicators that would help organisations, facilities managers, and policymakers guide their decisions hinged on the espousal of innovative technologies. Furthermore, the study serves as a solid theoretical base for further studies showcasing a roadmap for digitalisation for FM functions by unravelling the significant performance measurement indicators.

The study aimed to perform confirmatory factor analysis, internal consistency, gender differential item functioning, and discriminant validity of the Fear of COVID-5 Scale in emerging adult students of a university in Mexico. confirmatory factor analysis, internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha and McDonald's omega), and gender differential item functioning were estimated (Kendall tau b correlation). The Fear of COVID-5 Scale showed a one-dimension structure (RMSEA = 0.07, CFI = 0.98, TLI = 0.96, and SRMR = 0.02), with high internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha of 0.78 and McDonald's omega of 0.81), non-gender differential item functioning (Kendall tau b between 0.07 and 0.10), and significant discriminant validity (Higher scores for fear of COVID-19 were observed in high clinical anxiety levels). In conclusion, the Fear of COVID-5 Scale presents a clear one-dimension structure similar to a previous study.

BackgroundThe internet-based remote learning and pedagogical revolution in the era of the covid pandemic has contributed to the boom in video conferencing technologies and resulted in new phenomena of exhaustion and fatigue experienced during virtual *** examine the psychometric properties of the Zoom Exhaustion and Fatigue Scale (ZEFS) in the Indian university student population and to explore its impact on mental *** hundred and seven students participated in this study and 484 completed the ZEFS and the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale (DASS) via online survey. Psychometric validation of the ZEFS was performed with confirmatory factor analysis and reliability was assessed with Cronbach alpha and composite reliability. Pearson correlations were used to explore the relationship between the ZEFS and the *** results showed excellent reliability of the full ZEFS scale with a high Cronbach alpha and composite reliability score (0.94). The validity of the ZEFS within the Indian student sample was supported with favorable fit indices (CFI = 0.968, GFI = 0.932, AGFI = 0.897, CMIN/DF = 3.198, RMSEA = 0.06) consistent with the original factor structure. The Depression, Anxiety, and Stress scales of the DASS were found to be significantly correlated with Zoom fatigue (p < .01).ConclusionOur data suggest that the Indian version of the ZEFS is a psychometrically sound measure to assess Zoom fatigue in the Indian student population.

It is well known that locomotion and morphology are related. Several studies have been performed over the years showing the genetic correlation between them in horses. However, none could reveal the possible causative link between those traits in this species. The aim of this study was to apply statistical causal inference to dissect the possible causative links between morphology and locomotion traits in Campolina horses. It was used 49,994 horses with records for 28 traits. All phenotypic records were adjusted for fixed (contemporary group, stud, and age) and random (technician) effects except the animal genetic effect. All missing observations were removed, and the final dataset was left with 640 adjusted records for all traits. A confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was conducted to build a measurement model for three latent traits: Morphology (M), Morphological quality (Q) and Locomotion traits (L). Here it was assumed that morphology and locomotion cannot be directly measured, but only morphological and locomotion aspects. A multitrait animal model was performed to obtain breeding values (EBV) for the three latent traits, and factor scores from CFA were adjusted for the EBV. The adjusted factor scores were used as input in structural equation models to investigate all possible causative links among latent traits. The measurement model showed acceptable fit to the data, and the differences between sample and modelimplied (co)variance matrices were low (0.01). L had low heritability estimate (0.03) whereas M and Q had moderate (0.21 and 0.36, respectively). All genetic correlations were negative, but those between Q and the others were favorable for selection. There is a causative direct effect of Q over M (-0.30) and an indirect over L (-0.10). It was found a causative effect of M on L (0.35). Knowing causal paths among traits will help breeders to take selection decisions and may have important implications for strategies in horse improvement.
