We are presenting a distributed algorithm for tracking a moving target using mobile robots, each equipped with sensors. In this work, to cope with the constraints on the noise and states of the target, we employ a distributed estimation algorithm which is based on the concept of moving horizon estimation (MHE). A consensus process in this algorithm guarantees all the mobile robots asymptotically converge to a common value for the estimate of the moving target states. Furthermore, the movement decision of the mobile robots is based on the flocking algorithm.

Evaluation on the application mode of blockchain technology in water transportation engineering project management

Due to the continuous development and application of blockchain technology, more and more industries are exploring its application in project management. In the management of water transportation engineering projects, blockchain technology also has certain application potential. This article will start with the characteristics of blockchain technology, and the current situation and needs of water transportation project management, analyze the application mode of blockchain technology in water transportation project management, and explore its advantages, limitations, and practical applications. The experimental results of this article showed that when blockchain technology was applied to the management of water transportation engineering projects, its information sharing score was 93;its data storage and management score was 96.1;its smart contract score was 97.4;its fund management score was 97.1;its Internet of Things technology score was 96.5, which was far higher than the score of applying traditional technologies. It was shown that using blockchain technology for water transportation engineering project management can improve the efficiency and quality of project management, reduce costs, and extend to a wider range of water transportation lines and project fields in the future.

Approximation Bounds for Hierarchical Clustering: Average Linkage, Bisecting K-means, and Local Search

Hierarchical clustering is a data analysis method that has been used for decades. Despite its widespread use, the method has an underdeveloped analytical foundation. Having a well understood foundation would both support the currently used methods and help guide future improvements. The goal of this paper is to give an analytic framework to better understand observations seen in practice. This paper considers the dual of a problem framework for hierarchical clustering introduced by Dasgupta (2016). The main result is that one of the most popular algorithms used in practice, average linkage agglomerative clustering, has a small constant approximation ratio for this objective. To contrast, this paper establishes that using several other popular algorithms, including bisecting k-means divisive clustering, have a very poor lower bound on its approximation ratio for the same objective. However, we show that there are divisive algorithms that perform well with respect to this objective by giving two constant approximation algorithms. This paper is some of the first work to establish guarantees on widely used hierarchical algorithms for a natural objective function. This objective and analysis give insight into what these popular algorithms are optimizing and when they will perform well.

In order to achieve secure and efficient data sharing and exchange between railway and other industries, based on the business characteristics of the railway industry,we established a blockchain-based railway data sharing and exchange system. In this paper, we proposed a data storage and aggregation scheme that combines on- chain and off-chain data, and an improved consensus algorithm for data sharing based on the characteristics of railway blockchain node structures. The railway industry data exchange and sharing blockchain model proposed in this paper ensures data security while meeting the needs of secure and efficient data exchange between railways and other industries.

Machine learning has long been discussed as a candidate for facilitating autonomous multiagent vehicle coordination. Many methods of autonomous multiagent coordination have been proposed, however few if any solutions take into account realistic communication challenges. By using machine learning on multiple levels, and a self organizing hierarchical system, an autonomous, pseudo decentralized, heterogeneous, system can dynamically complete tasks without being fully connected. This method will be investigated and demonstrated on a simple, proof of concept rotorcraft simulation. Initial results show that a parallel auction coordination framework can be used to organize multiple heterogeneous agents with different sensors, movement modalities, and controllers to complete a task requiring multiple agents. The auction framework is independent of individual agents and has been utilized in this paper by a combination of a reinforcement learning trained agent and two potential optimally controlled agents to complete a task.

Graph edge coloring problem is a branch of the graph coloring problem and is a classic NP-hard problem in graph theory. The goal of edge coloring is to minimize the number of colors used for coloring such that any two adjacent edges are not the same color. Due to its NP-Hardness, we focus on the efficient ordering heuristics for the graph edge coloring in this paper. We systematically explore six different orderings which have been shown to significantly influence the effectiveness of the vertex coloring. Different from the vertex coloring, our experimental results demonstrate that these heuristic orderings have little effect on the graph edge coloring results and almost all these orderings can obtain nearly-optimal coloring results. Meanwhile, considering parallel graph edge coloring presents an interesting challenge for algorithm developers, we design a parallel edge coloring algorithm based on predecessor edges and successor edges. Moreover, we further design a partitioning-based method to address the oversized memory consumption problem of the proposed parallel algorithm. We evaluate our proposed algorithms and the experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of our proposed algorithm.

In order to ensure the integrity of distribution metering terminals, this paper proposes a distributed trustworthy authentication method for smart grid distribution terminals. Firstly, the structural design of blockchain data is accomplished using the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) and the HPACK block body compression method. Subsequently, an intelligent contract based on elliptic curve encryption algorithm is introduced to facilitate node registration and distributed authentication. Finally, a Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance (PBFT) consensus algorithm is proposed, incorporating a reward and punishment mechanism. This utilizes a voting model to optimize the practical Byzantine fault-tolerant algorithm, ensuring consistency of data among nodes. Experimental results demonstrate that this terminal trustworthy authentication method can achieve a more secure and efficient authentication for distribution metering terminals.

At present, the number of incoming devices and mobile data traffic has seen explosive growth, and spectrum resources are difficult to meet the increasing demand. The traditional centralized spectrum management model suffers from low spectrum utilization, high maintenance costs, and data security issues. The decentralized and secure nature of blockchain technology is a natural advantage in solving the problems faced by the current spectrum management model. However, when introducing traditional blockchain technology into spectrum management, it faces problems such as high latency and high resource consumption. In this letter, we design a new blockchain-enabled spectrum trading framework consisting of the access layer, distribution layer, and core layer, and then propose a user benefit-maximum spectrum trading matching scheme. To solve the problem of latency and energy consumption of consensus algorithms in blockchains, the dynamic credit aggregate-signature Byzantine fault tolerance (DCABFT) algorithm based on the Boneh-Lynn-Shacham (BLS) aggregated signature is proposed. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can greatly improve the transaction latency and users' quality of service.

Distributed Power Management and Adaptive Coordinated Control for SST-Based Power Systems

For better utilization of DC-inherent renewable energy with high penetration and fluctuation, the solid-state transformer (SST)-based power systems have received great attention and arose increasing demand for grid supports and power management. Given the plug-and-play function of distributed renewable energy and loads, the economical and balanced power allocation as well as the flexible seamless transition among different operation modes are not considered comprehensively in existing studies. Therefore, distributed power management and adaptive coordinated control strategy are proposed for SST-interfaced power systems. 1) The application of SST as an alternative to multiple converters to interface the high-voltage grid (HG) and hybrid AC/DC microgrids (MGs) can reduce system communication. Compared with traditional transformers, the controllability and intelligence of SST-enabled power systems are improved. 2) The flexible seamless transition and adaptive coordinated control among HG-connected mode, MG interconnected mode and islanding mode are realized to adapt to different fault conditions. 3) Considering system operation limits, the economical and balanced power allocation is realized accurately, and the voltage quality is effectively ensured in various operation modes. Finally, the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed system and control strategy are tested on the OPAL-RT-based platform.

Distributed systems, which have become an integral and inseparable component of the modern technology infrastructure, hold data protection in the highest regard. It is of utmost importance to safeguard the constantly expanding and growing amount of data that is present within these distributed systems, as the methods employed by malicious attackers are continuously evolving. This evolution necessitates a forward-thinking and proactive approach to the detection and containment of these attacks. In line with this, this scholarly article introduces a highly robust containment system that has been specifically designed to minimize the time required for recovery and to mitigate the impact of cyberattacks on distributed systems. The proposed system makes use of a comprehensive and all-encompassing set of techniques in order to accurately identify and effectively isolate compromised nodes within the distributed environment that has been targeted by an attack. By implementing this isolation process, the containment system successfully prevents any further damage from occurring and effectively halts any potential data breaches, all while ensuring the preservation and integrity of the existing files that reside within the compromised node. Ultimately, the true effectiveness and power of this system lies within its unique ability to automate the containment process, thereby enabling a rapid and efficient response to any cyberattack that may occur, resulting in minimal downtime and disruption.
