Distributed Real-time Optimal Power Flow Strategy for DC Microgrid Under Stochastic Communication Networks

This paper addresses a distributed real-time optimal power flow(RTOPF) strategy for DC microgrids. In this paper, we focus on the scenarios where local information sharing is conducted in stochastic communication networks subject to random failures. Most existing real-time optimal power flow(OPF) algorithms for the DC microgrid require all controllers to work in concert with a fixed network topology to maintain a zero gap between estimated global constraint violations. Thus, the high reliability of communication is required to ensure their convergence. To address this issue, the proposed RTOPF strategy tolerates stochastic communication failures and can seek the optimum with a constant step size considering the operation limitations of the microgrid. These aspects make the strategy suitable for real-time optimization, particularly when the communication is not reliable. In addition, this strategy does not require information from non-dispatchable devices, thereby reducing the number of sensors and controllers in the system. The convergence of the proposed strategy and the optimal equilibrium points are theoretically proven. Finally, simulations of a 30-bus DC microgrid are performed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed designs.

This paper investigates quasimonotone and Lipschitz continuous variational inequalities in real Hilbert spaces. To address this problem, we propose a new iterative algorithm for finding an element of the solution set of the quasimonotone variational inequality problem. Our approach combines techniques from the inertial modified subgradient extragradient algorithm and the viscosity approximation method. Using a new self adaptive stepsize, we establish a strong convergence theorem for the sequence generated by the proposed algorithm under appropriate conditions. The results presented in this work improve upon and generalize some recent findings in this area. © 2025, Politechnica University of Bucharest. All rights reserved.

Harmonic power sharing control using adaptive virtual harmonic impedance in islanded microgrids

Existence of nonlinear loads makes load power sharing more challenging in the islanded microgrids. Conventional droop control may cause the poor harmonic power sharing among the distributed generations (DGs) due to the mismatched line impedance. This paper proposes an adaptive regulation method of the virtual harmonic impedance for the accurate harmonic power sharing. consensus algorithm is used to regulate adaptively the virtual harmonic impedance according to the harmonic power sharing error among the DGs with considering of the mismatched line impedance. This method does not require the prior knowledge of the line impedance. The feasibility of the proposed method is demonstrated by simulation result for achieving the accurate harmonic power sharing to reduce the voltage distortion at the point of common coupling (PCC).

Due to the involvement of a large number of intermediaries across different time zones in the correspondent banking process, existing interbank payment systems cannot provide cost-effective cross-border transactions. They also suffer from lack of transparency and long transaction delays. These issues can be solved by designing a cryptocurrency in an auditable manner using a permissioned blockchain where a group of authorities can govern the network. In this article, we propose a low-cost, seamless cross-border payment system based on an auditable cryptocurrency that enables unspent transaction output-based transactions in a consortium blockchain network. To manage the blockchain, participating countries execute the energy-efficient proof of authority consensus algorithm with equal rights. Unlike conventional cryptocurrencies, dynamic decentralized identifiers (DIDs) are used as transacting addresses so that self-manageable authentication can be performed on-chain without any interaction with a trusted third party. The identity of transacting parties is known to respective DID issuers only. This approach enables peer-to-peer transactions while protecting user privacy and ensuring transparency without jeopardizing auditability. For user convenience, multi-party computation and multi-signature protocols are also provided. The system was implemented in Python, and the transaction mechanism was tested. This paper can help with ongoing research on blockchain-based cross-border payment solutions worldwide.

A Blockchain System for TDMA-Based Tactical Wireless Networks With Constrained Resources

This paper proposes a blockchain system with a consensus algorithm and timeslot allocation policy for TDMA-based tactical wireless networks with constrained resources. A blockchain can serve as a distributed database that ensures all nodes can store the same data even in unreliable network environments. Blockchain technology has numerous benefits, such as decentralization, tamper resistance, traceability, and audibility. Due to these characteristics, the application range of blockchains has dramatically expanded from cryptocurrency, financial services, risk management, and IoT to various services in both public and non-public domains. In addition, there has been an increasing demand for using blockchain technology in wireless network environments. Unlike wired networks, communication resources in wireless networks for data transmission and reception are relatively limited;as such, it is necessary to design a consensus algorithm with low resource consumption and an efficient resource allocation policy for these environments. The proposed system allocates timeslots to nodes based on their contribution to blockchain management, which prevents nodes from participating in an unnecessary competition for block generation, thereby preventing the associated waste of energy. We could verify the proposed system's practicality through numerical analysis and computer simulations under various conditions.

Federated learning (FL) offers a promising approach to efficient machine learning with privacy protection in distributed environments, such as Internet of Things (IoT) and mobile-edge computing (MEC). The effectiveness of FL relies on a group of participant nodes that contribute their data and computing capacities to the collaborative training of a global model. Therefore, preventing malicious nodes from adversely affecting the model training while incentivizing credible nodes to contribute to the learning process plays a crucial role in enhancing FL security and performance. Seeking to contribute to the literature, we propose a blockchain-empowered secure and incentive FL (BESIFL) paradigm in this article. Specifically, BESIFL leverages blockchain to achieve a fully decentralized FL system, where effective mechanisms for malicious node detections and incentive management are fully integrated in a unified framework. The experimental results show that the proposed BESIFL is effective in improving FL performance through its protection against malicious nodes, incentive management, and selection of credible nodes.

This paper introduces a new Byzantine fault tolerance protocol called workload-based randomization Byzantine fault tolerance protocol(WRBFT).Improvements are made to the Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance(PBFT),which has an important position in the Byzantine Fault consensus *** PBFT has numerous ad-vantages,its primary node selection mechanism is overly fixed,the communication overhead of the consensus process is also high,and nodes cannot join and exit *** solve these problems,the WRBFT proposed in this paper combines node consensus workload and verifiable random function(VRF)to randomly select the more reliable primary node that dominates the *** selection of the nodes involved in the consensus is based on the node workload,and the optimization of the agreement protocol of the PBFT is also based on *** results show that the WRBFT has higher throughput,lower consensus latency,and higher algorithmic efficiency compared to the PBFT.

Since the traffic conditions change over time, machine learning models that predict traffic flows must be updated continuously and efficiently in smart public transportation. Federated learning (FL) is a distributed machine learning scheme that allows buses to receive model updates without waiting for model training on the cloud. However, FL is vulnerable to poisoning or DDoS attacks since buses travel in public. Some work introduces blockchain to improve reliability, but the additional latency from the consensus process reduces the efficiency of FL. Asynchronous Federated Learning (AFL) is a scheme that reduces the latency of aggregation to improve efficiency, but the learning performance is unstable due to unreasonably weighted local models. To address the above challenges, this paper offers a blockchain-based asynchronous federated learning scheme with a dynamic scaling factor (DBAFL). Specifically, the novel committee-based consensus algorithm for blockchain improves reliability at the lowest possible cost of time. Meanwhile, the devised dynamic scaling factor allows AFL to assign reasonable weights to stale local models. Extensive experiments conducted on heterogeneous devices validate outperformed learning performance, efficiency, and reliability of DBAFL.

Multimicrogrid collaborative economic scheduling method based on the FISCO BCOS blockchain

With the advancement of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals, microgrid clusters have attracted widespread attention due to their high stability and energy efficiency. This article proposes a scheduling architecture for microgrid clusters that integrates blockchain smart contracts, consensus mechanisms, and encryption technologies to address the issues of data trust, privacy protection, and security reliability in microgrid clusters. An economic adjustment model for microgrid clusters is constructed that combines economic and environmental objectives. Finally, based on the RPBFT (Rotating Proof of Believability) algorithm and group architecture of FISCO BCOS blockchain technology, an economic scheduling method for microgrid clusters is designed. The authors built a microgrid cluster model on the FISCO BCOS blockchain platform and conducted experiments on the effectiveness, economy, fault tolerance, and scalability of economic scheduling methods. The experimental results showed that the economic scheduling method proposed in this paper can effectively reduce the risk of nodes tampering with data in a microgrid cluster system, ensure the privacy of submicrogrids, and support the deployment of large-scale microgrid clusters, the realization of multiparty collaborative autonomy and the stable, low-carbon, economic operation of microgrid clusters.
