Magnetic frustration in cubic antiferromagnet studied by means of the constraint function -: Application to FeF₃

We propose a simple way to determine the frustration rate in simple cubic ordered frustrated magnetic structure, based upon the calculation of the reduced energy of the system. The case where the magnetic frustration phenomena based on the competing of nearest and next nearest neighbours interactions is considered. The constraint function is described neglecting all quantum fluctuations effects. The application to FeF3 frustrated magnetic system is presented. Two kinds of magnetic frustrated configurations originating a magnetic phase transition were evidenced according to the values of exchange interactions between first (JAB) and second nearest neighbours (J(AA(BB))(2nu)). We report on the evolution of the constraint function F-c, versus ratios J(AB)(1nu)/J(AA)(2nu) and J(AB)(1nu)/J(BB)(2nu). (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

The paper addresses the issue of the constraint function and its use in methods of regional taxonomy and assessment of regional systems. It proposes an alternative definition for the constraint function for rule-based methods of functional regionalisation, such as the delineation of local labour-market areas, including alternative conceptions of the self-containment of the regions, and the trade-off between size and self-containment. An alternative constraint function has been applied in the territory of the Czech Republic as shown in the paper's illustrative example of its use from the original CURDS algorithm.

In this paper, we propose a fast approach to simulate the dynamic behavior of skeletal muscles based on bio-mechanical and anatomical properties. In contrast to physically accurate deformation, this simulation achieves faster and better simulation of skeletal muscles, with the cost of unnoticeable visual accuracy. Internal constrains are generated to conserve linear and angular momentum which is essential for cloth self-collision. Deformation constraints are defined by using the muscle force-length relationship serve as Control Axial Curve, which constrainedly generates the active and passive force of the muscles to drive skeletal motion during the deformation process. This approach generates realistic visual effect, and manages the deformation of muscles on the basis of the bio-mechanical properties with fast speed. We have demonstrated the simulation by creating a musculoskeletal model of the upper limb.

Static tainting extraction approach based on information flow graph for personally identifiable information

Personally identifiable information(PII) is widely used for many aspects such as network privacy leak detection, network forensics, and user portraits. Internet service providers(ISPs) and administrators are usually concerned with whether PII has been extracted during the network transmission process. However,most studies have focused on the extractions occurring on the client side and server side. This study proposes a static tainting extraction approach that automatically extracts PII from large-scale network traffic without requiring any manual work and feedback on the ISP-level network traffic. The proposed approach does not deploy any additional applications on the client side. The information flow graph is drawn via a tainting process that involves two steps: inter-domain routing and intra-domain infection that contains a constraint function(CF) to limit the "over-tainting". Compared with the existing semantic-based approach that uses network traffic from the ISP, the proposed approach performs better, with 92.37% precision and 94.04%recall. Furthermore, three methods that reduce the computing time and the memory overhead are presented herein. The number of rounds is reduced to 0.0883%, and the execution time overhead is reduced to 0.0153%of the original approach.

Optimization for Loading Paths of Tube Hydroforming Using a Hybrid Method

Tube hydroforming (THF) is an advanced technology with the advantages of lightweight and integrity, which can be used to manufacture hollow structural components. The process of THF is influenced by many factors, among which the matching relation between the internal pressure and axial feed, i.e., loading paths, is particularly important. In this article, a hybrid method is proposed to optimize loading paths of THF. Firstly, a three-layer back-propagation artificial neural network (BP-ANN) is built, and 200 samples from finite element (FE) simulations are applied to train and test the artificial neural network (ANN). Then genetic algorithm (GA) is adopted to search the optimal loading paths in the specified bounds of the design variables by using the trained ANN as the solver of the objective function and constraint functions. After 59 iterations, the optimal loading paths are obtained. Finally, the verified experiments are performed on the special hydroforming press. The results show that the proposed method can effectively search the optimal loading paths of THF and remarkably improve the quality of the final formed parts.

A multi-agent based method for extracting characters and character strings

This paper describes COCE (COordinative Character Extractor), a method for extracting printed Japanese characters and their character strings from all sorts of document images. COCE is based on a multi-agent system where each agent tries to find a character string and extracts the characters in it. For the adaptability, the agents are allowed to look after arbitrary parts of documents and extract the characters using only the knowledge independent of the layouts. Moreover, the agents check and correct their results sometimes with the help of the other agents. From experimental results, we have verified the effectiveness of our approach.

Analytical J-integral model for mode-I cracks in ductile materials with three-dimensional constraints

The J-integral is widely used in fracture analysis to characterize the stress-strain field at the crack tip. To describe the dimensionless relationships between the J-integral and the load for mode-I cracks in ductile materials, a novel model based on the energy density equivalence is proposed by introducing the three-dimensional constraint functions. The model-obtained relationships between the J-integral and the load are shown to be consistent with those obtained via finite element analysis. Moreover, the dimensionless relationships provided by the proposed model are shown to be only related to the constitutive parameters and independent of the geometric dimensions of mode-I cracks.

Locally and globally optimal solutions of global optimisation for max-plus linear systems

This paper considers the locally and globally optimal solutions of the global optimisation problem whose objective function is a max-plus vector-valued function and constraint function is a real affine function. The formulas about global optimisation in the existing work are further explained and simplified. The necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence and uniqueness of locally optimal solutions of a single objective are established, which are then used to deduce these of globally optimal solutions. Furthermore, the general formulas of locally and globally optimal solutions are presented, respectively. The local optimisation is then applied to solve the load distribution problem of distributed systems with no globally optimal solution, and the optimal allocation scheme is proposed to complete the overall task at the earliest time. The proposed method is constructive, and the obtained results are illustrated by the numerical examples.
