This paper takes let-off system of SAURER400 rapier loom as experimental subject, mathematical modeling to every parts of loom, and takes simulation and comparison. The simulation results show the improvement of mechanical can meet the basic requirements of weaving, and it indicates the works that done former are effective and correct.

This paper presents the design and implementation of an integrated 3-D animation system for space segmented telescope test-bed. Sponsored by National Science Foundation (NSF), the objective of the animation system is to demonstrate various real-time control algorithms developed in Structures Pointing And control Engineering (SPACE) Laboratory, and to provide a research tool for exploring new control algorithms. The development of the 3-D animation system involves a variety of techno! logies, such as real-time decentralized control, animation technology based on computational geometry, and user-friendly graphic user interface design methodology, etc. In order to integrate heterogeneous technologies together seamlessly, a highly modularized methodology is employed, based on which the 3-D animation system is decomposed into four autonomous modules. Each module encapsulates a different technology. To enable efficient interaction between different modules, inter-module communication is established by Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA). This system integration method provides an open and flexible platform for software development, and significantly reduces the cost of implementation and maintenance.

The ability to deploy payloads from multi-rotors (MR) is highly desired for numerous commercial and military applications, including commercial package delivery and civil/military search and rescue operations. In this work, methods and devices are proposed to enable MRs to deploy one-to-two pound objects on or near doors while in flight to enable them to overcome obstacles within damaged buildings during search and rescue operations. Several concepts are proposed, and the two most-promising prototypes are thoroughly described. These include a MR-deployable magnetic tank-like robot and an extendable boom device. Analysis, prototyping and testing of these concepts show both systems to be feasible. The systems exceeded the design requirements and both systems successfully performed system-level demonstration tests.

With the progress of science and technology, the training theory of restoring upper limb function is gradually mature, and auxiliary training equipment is also born and developed. In order to develop a low-cost desktop light-weight rehabilitation training equipment, reduce the doctor workload, improve recovery efficiency and reduce the family economic burden, this paper designs a motor drive for upper limb movement rehabilitation equipment. And verify the performance of the motor drive through the simulation and experiment. The results show that the designed motor driver can control the permanent magnet synchronous motor stable operating in the required mode.

A new topology of the energy router is proposed in this paper to achieve a richer power distribution scheme, which contains DC interface, DC energy storage, loads, photovoltaic power generation and other equipment. A power control algorithm based on droop control of the DC bus is proposed to solve the problem of frequent fluctuations of the power and unstable of the DC bus voltage caused by access of the multiple devices. This algorithm realizes the adjustment to the working mode, the direction of the power flow and the value of each unit according to the bus voltage to ensure that the energy router realizes the voltage constant and the power balance of the DC bus without affecting the operation of each device. Characteristic of "resource" or "load" for ER and storage can be switched adaptively, and dynamic power regulation is achieved by droop control. Droop control for "resource" and "load" is similar to the characteristic for "generator-load" in conventional power system, whose purpose is to restrain the power fluctuation and to realize the stable control of dc bus voltage. Finally, according to the proposed topology of the energy router and the control strategy, the simulation is carried out on the MATLAB platform to verify the analysis.

This paper addresses the problem areas associated with hot water load control in communal living environments where the demand for hot water could already outstrip the supply. This paper will explain the models that have been developed for the design of control algorithms for the control of the hot water consumption of the student residential hostels at the University of Pretoria. Many factors make this type of environment unique and these factors, when brought into account with the models, ensure that dynamic and financially viable control algorithms can be designed. The largest factors that influence this type of control are the hot water consumption pattern of the hostel occupants and the ratio of consumers per cylinder being higher than expected with entire floors or sections being supplied with hot water from a single large cylinder. Consequently, factors that should be considered during the design of dynamic control algorithms are highlighted and these applied to preliminary model results obtained at the University of Pretoria.

Actuators with high resolution and high range are always in demand for critical applications such as space applications, machining, and medical equipment. A dual-resolution actuator that has a coarse motion segment and a fine motion segment in itself that runs through a common drive system was designed. A coupling mechanism is employed to engage and disengage with the coarse motion of the actuator, enabling the use of coarse motion only when required. The actuator can achieve the target in any of three methods: (1) directly through fine motion, (2) utilizing a combination of fine and coarse motion without the need to overshoot the target value, and (3) employing both fine and coarse motion with a need for overshoot of the target value. An intelligent algorithm employing multiple techniques to address sensor-induced delays and enhance runtime efficiency was developed and tested on the realized actuator. This paper describes the techniques adopted and the sequence of conditions used to enable the actuator to reach the target in the shortest time and minimum possible steps.

The Smart Distribution Grid concept is conceived as a means to optimize and to improve the reliability and operation of the electric distribution network. The numerous and different types of information generated and time synchronized at a distribution network by smart meters, coupled with a communication infrastructure and data base management system provide the means to generate useful control algorithms. Attaching the location of each smart meter at the distribution grid to the monitored data opens the door to numerous advanced applications. control applications lend themselves for logical stratifications unique to the intended targets of control. Demand response has a rippling effect all the way to generation and also to distribution assets performance. Distribution automation could be local to the distribution network served by a distribution substation. Fast transient phenomena, harmonics problems can be highly local, limited to a particular feeder or at customer premises. The data requirements for each of the control applications mentioned before can be quite different from each other and also depend greatly on the location at the network. This paper tries to illustrate how the physical behavior of the electric energy delivery system dictates the requirements for data generated by the sensing devices to design algorithms for Smart Distribution Grid control applications.

Along this paper, it will be presented how the Electric Vehicle (EV) bidirectional chargers can help the Distribution Grid. In addition to the battery charge and the Vehicle-to-Grid functions (V2G), the reactive power can be compensated according to an established reactive power reference. A three-phase bidirectional inverter connected with a DC link to a DC/DC bidirectional converter is utilized in the topology. The different modifications that are needed in the control algorithm and in the power stage are determined. Simulation results are shown, which prove how the reactive power is being compensated and the saturation of the reactive current is used to keep the power under predefined limits.
