We present a simple control algorithm for a single-hormone artificial pancreas (AP). The AP consists of a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) measuring the interstitial glucose concentration, a control algorithm computing the insulin to administer, and an insulin pump dosing the insulin. The control algorithm is based on insights into the underlying dynamics of the glucose-insulin dynamics in people with type 1 diabetes. The main components in this control system are 1) an insulin bolus calculator to compensate for carbohydrates in meals, 2) a run-to-run algorithm for adjusting the basal insulin to long-term metabolic variations, and 3) a micro-bolus correction of the basal insulin to compensate for short-term variations in the endogenous insulin production and insulin sensitivity. The first phase is the development of the control algorithm in a simulation environment and its verification on simulated models. Next, a real control system is connected to the computer via a PLC to test the algorithm on a real physical model. The PLC servers only for I/O as all computations are still being done in the simulation environment MATLAB/Simulink In the third phase the control algorithm is completely ported into the PLC. Monitoring of the process and parameters configuration may still be done using the connected PC with MATLAB/Simulink.

The paper presents basic control algorithms for vehicle platooning prototype car. The car is designed to be used in vehicle platooning research, namely in studying longitudinal control algorithms for vehicle platooning. It employs various sensors and devices that allow indoor research of platoon behavior. Therefore, the control algorithms can be designed and analyzed before implementing them within real cars. The basic control algorithms presented within this paper are used for path control and longitudinal control. They are PID and PI algorithms, they are implemented in the FreeRTOS based car's embedded application and represent the basic steps for further analysis of platoon's behavior and more advanced control techniques. The control algorithms performance for platoons of 2 vehicles is observed and presented by using the prototype model car's ability of saving the important data into specific log files on a micro SD card.

Thus it is proposed the concept of "pricing control." Considering the numerous algorithms of pricing control which are reported in literature, this paper performs a comparative study and evaluates their effectiveness and advantages. The pricing control scheme of electricity market is formulated. The control algorithms are presented, i.e., info-fusion-based control, multiperiod optimal control, adaptive estimation, proportional-integral, and moving average estimation. The differences are clarified;from the model description to the solving technique. The quality of the solution is computationally compared and analyzed.

The paper presents a semantic model for time-driven real-time control algorithms based on adaptive schedule. In contrast to known models of semantics of programs and reactive systems based on the notion of state, use of adaptive schedules allows avoiding surplus detalization which leads to a 'state explosion' problem. On the other hand, adaptive schedules correspond well to the nature of real-time control algorithms. The use of this model allows automated checking of the control algorithms' synchronization properties. The paper describes two case studies of application of a presented model for automation of design and verification of spacecraft's onboard flight control programs. The use of adaptive schedules semantics together with domain specific language, and automation toolset allow formal specification and verification of the important properties of real-time systems.

The estimated cost of energy storage systems, in particular, lithium-ion batteries, by 2030 is less than $ 100. It indicates the prospects of using energy storages and the development of appropriate control algorithms in order to reduce the cost of network electricity for consumers. Currently, energy storages are mainly used in conjunction with renewable energy sources to smooth out torn generation. This work is devoted to the development and analysis of ways of reducing the cost of electricity for organizations purchasing electricity in III and IV price categories in the Russian Federation. control algorithms aimed at reducing peak power (1), and at minimizing the consumption of mains electricity in the control hours (2) are considered. Each algorithm allows for the purposeful reduction of a corresponding component of the electricity cost in accordance with the pricing features for the corresponding price category. The results of the research show that the first algorithm is advisable to be used with a sufficiently large maximum stored energy (capacity) of the storage, comparable to the daily consumption. Using the second algorithm allows reducing the power charge down to zero, while the maximum stored energy (capacity) of the storage can be relatively small no higher than the average hourly consumption in the control hours, which does not require significant capital expenditures for implementation. In addition to reducing costs for the enterprise, the proposed solutions positively influence the energy system as a whole, as allow you to align its load during the day.
