This document introduces the development of a control algorithm for a mechatronics application using system engineering methodologies. The application in question is a Pneumatic Vacuum System (PVS), which is a subsystem of Surface Mounting Technology (SMT) printer. Using a combination of the model-based mechatronics approach and the technical processes of systems engineering, the algorithm was developed, implemented, and tested. This investigation includes the development of a mathematical model for the dynamic interaction between the valve and the pneumatic actuator in the PVS. It also covers the development stages of the algorithm and how they were combined with the technical processes across different teams in the enterprise.
