Harmonic distortion introduced by nonlinear loads in the electric system is hard to measure and anticipate, and the effects are harmful to other loads. To compensate these drawbacks, usually active power filters are used, but their performance depends on the method used to generate the reference current, and on the parameters of the filter. This paper presents a new Matlab Simulink control block which allows the rapid tuning of filter's parameters, enables the selection of one of the six most usual control algorithms, and also can generate code for future implementation on microcontrollers.

The thesis has two primary objectives. First, it develops a high-fidelity 6DOF flight dynamics model of a multi-copter UAV, and uses it for the design and implementation of the linear attitude controller onboard of an industrial quadcopter; both steps are implemented in Simulink. Second, it leverages the weakly joint efforts of MathWorks and the open-source community to build a software setup that enables rapid control software prototyping. This software architecture enables control system design and integration without the need for proficiency in embedded coding that typically utilizes high-level programming languages like C/C++. The higher impact of the dual objective is in advancing methods and tools of verifiable control system design and the embedded code generation that simplifies the V&V process. The 3DR Iris+ quadrotor, equipped with PX4 "Pixhawk" autopilot, is selected as the primary prototyping platform. The autopilot allows for the real-time execution of an application (attitude controller) that is auto- generated from MatLab/Simulink. This makes the Iris+ quadrotor an ideal platform for rapid flight control prototyping by using MathWork's auto code generation capability. Ultimately, the developed setup represents a convenient research and development tool that natively bridges the gap between the safety-critical flight control science and flight experimentation technology by "eliminating" the error-prone manual coding of embedded microcontrollers.

The present work deals with diminishing the effects of wireless communication latency in time-sensitive networks. It takes advantage of modern approaches that offer bounded latency and it focuses on methods to cope with the nondeterministic delays introduced by communication *** observer-predictor scheme module is designed and added in the control loop to prevent the performance degradation when a wireless network is introduced. The evolving technologies regarding Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have led to their extended applicability in diverse domains, including surveillance, commerce, military, and smart electric grid monitoring. Modern UAV avionics enable precise aircraft operations through autonomous navigation, obstacle identification, and collision prevention. The structures of avionics are generally complex, and thorough hierarchies and intricate connections exist in between. For a comprehensive understanding of a UAV design, this paper aims to assess and critically review the purpose-classified electronics hardware inside UAVs, each with the corresponding performance metrics thoroughly analyzed. This review includes an exploration of different algorithms used for data processing, flight control, surveillance, navigation, protection, and communication. Consequently, this paper enriches the knowledge base of UAVs, offering an informative background on various UAV design processes, particularly those related to electric smart grid applications. As a future work recommendation, an actual relevant project is openly discussed.

An electrode wear has been found to cause considerable quality variation in the process of resistance spot welding. This paper presents a study on the electrode wear growth and develops a microprocessor-based feedback controller that can compensate weld quality variation due to electrode deterioration. The controller developed in this study utilizes a PI control algorithm, incorporating the electrode movement as a feedback signal. A series of experiments was performed to clarify the wear growth phenomenon and to evaluate the performance of the controller. The experimental results show that the electrode wear can significantly cause quality deterioration, but this can be effectively compensated via application of this proposed control technique.
