Transportation serves as a means of connecting and has a very significant role in the movement of goods and people. Road transportation as connectivity between regions in urban areas, has tunnel roads that serve car and motorcycle riders for 24 hours. For this reason, it is necessary to control and monitor tunnel lights so that the quality of street lighting is well maintained in accordance with the specified lighting standar value. The purpose of this research is to design a tunnel light control and monitoring system using NodeMCU and Arduino Nano that can be controlled remotely using WiFi networking solution. This monitoring system is equipped with an Arduino Nano controller electronic circuit, RS485, INA219 current sensor and LM393 light sensor. From the test results, it was found that the system was able to control 8 tunnel LED lights, 4 on the left side and 4 on the right side of the tunnel road. The monitoring results show that the tunnel lights can be controlled by dimmer value of 6 and 12 on the flame and dim and the current value and lumens value of each light point can be monitored. © 2022 Institute of Advanced Engineering and Science (IAES).

Virtual environments allow the incorporation of new forms of study in process control. Thus, the Hardware in the Loop takes shape in training fields. In this article, a virtual environment of the sulfuric acid production process is developed. The three-dimensional model of the system is based on a natural system that is replicated in Blender software, and the virtual system is implemented in Unity 3D to simulate its behavior. This system is developed in the Hardware in The Loop approach, in which a process is simulated, and real devices perform the control. The interaction with the outside is a Human Machine Interface;this interface allows control and monitoring. In addition, the system provides support in the learning process of an operator in the process control area because interacting with a PLC in a physical way and applying tuning methods in real control loops without running risks brings the user closer to the work environment. The main result of this project is to obtain professional training tools in the field of process control.

The Public Street Lighting System is a street lighting system at night or when the environment is dark. control and monitoring system is one of the critical sides in the implementation of Public Street Lighting as a whole. So far, the Public Street Lighting treatment system is done manually, that causes many problems to the whole system. These problems resulted in very high maintenance costs and usability of Public Street Lighting that became not optimal. This paper is tended to design an automation control and monitoring of the system based on internet of things (IoT) system to address the problems. Several sensors, microprocessor system, actuators and a software graphical user interface are utilized in this research. Based on several experiments it can be said that the proposed system able to maintain Street Lighting System more satisfaction, low maintenance system and accurate.

India-based Neutrino Observatory (INO) collaboration is planning to build a massive 50,000 ton Iron Calorimeter (ICAL) detector. Particle detectors called Resistive Plate Chambers (RPCs) about 30,000 in number, will be used as active detector elements. RPCs require a high voltage of about 10KV to be applied across its parallel glass electrodes for producing the required uniform field needed for their operation. A differential voltage ( 5KV) solution using two low-ripple DC-HVDC units is proposed. This solution is superior from the points of view of cost besides ease of integration, which is a crucial for ICAL detector. Aim of this work is to design and build a microcontroller based control and monitoring system on an SPI interface for the twin DCHVDC controllers based power supply module. Main functions of the control and monitoring system are setting the required voltage at the specified ramp up or ramp down rate and monitoring the voltage and load current of the module.

The phenomenon that occurs today is an increase in the use of electrical energy consumption every year and especially in Public Street Lighting (PSL) lamps. It can be noticed that almost every road is public, and the expressway has PSL lights. PSL lamps are installed on each median, left or right of the road with a distance between +/- lights of 30meters. The object of research on this foreign cooperation is located in the PIK2 project located in the Dadap area, Indonesia. The PSL lamp installation location has a road length of +/- 1.8Km. PSL lamps used have a power of 250watts. While the specific purpose of this study is to design and analyze measurements of power, voltage and current in PSL lamps and also to control and monitor the condition of PSL lamps through the Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) by applying a star topology for the efficiency of electrical energy consumption in PSL lamps, using microcontrollers, sensors, and LoRa. This research is expected to produce a best practice model for the application of WSN in the PSL system in Indonesia and become a recommendation for companies in improving WSN technology and global competitiveness. The proposed research methods are quantitative and objective, so this study is applied to acquire and distribute data at PSL light points. The data on the sensor will be sent through the end node which is then sent to the coordinator node or gateway. The sensor data on this tool can be displayed by accessing the ubidots.

The inorganic matrices such as metal concentrates, steel, cement, glass, clay, coal, graphite, rocks and sediments, ores etc. play a pivotal role in infrastructure development, transportation, and energy. The presence of nonmetallic elements particularly halogens influence their quality, processing cost, and environment dynamics. The analysis of non-metals in such matrices is critically challenging due to their hardness, rigidity, and nondigestibility. This comprehensive review provides a critical comparison of various sample preparation methods in conjunction with pros and cons of advanced techniques for the detection of non-metals in complex matrices, particularly focusing on ion chromatography. Moreover, the review also addresses the challenges related to the enrichment and automation of non-metals analysis. In addition, the previous literature on nonmetals determination in diverse range of inorganic matrices has been tabulated for the first time. These insights are intended to guide researchers, quality control analysts, environmental scientists, and policymakers in enhancing pollution monitoring and control strategies.

An Air-Fuel Ratio Parametric Assessment on Efficiency and Cost of a Power Plant Steam Boiler

The possibility of efficiently utilizing various fossil fuels that foster economic competitiveness is desirous in industrial boiler operations for uninterrupted and sustainable power generation. In this study, an oil-fired and gas-fired boiler designed to produce 653900 kg/h of superheated steam and 585450 kg/h of reheat steam at a temperature of 540 degrees C to generate electricity was simulated using HYSYS V 8.8. At a varied air-fuel mass ratio, the boiler's comparative performance when it fires natural gas and low pour fuel oil (LPFO) was conducted using a number of thermodynamic performance criteria. An exergy-based costing of running the boiler with both fuels was also carried out. For the samples of natural gas and LPFO considered in this study, an air-fuel ratio slightly above 16.1 should be adequate for the fuel combustion. Air-fuel ratio requirement below or far above 16.1 may portend malfunctioning boiler components or even an ineffective boiler design. Furthermore, at AFR of 16.1, it costs US $4.04E-06/kJ to produce the superheated steam and the hot reheat stream when natural gas is fired while it costs US $7.22E-06/kJ for the case of firing LPFO. These values reflect an improvement on the economic implications at AFR of 26.5, predominantly operational in the power plant. However, a form of subsidy (like a reduction in LPFO import duties) which lowers the overhead costs of power generation using LPFO will be required to make LPFO an attractive backup alternative to natural gas in instances where there is short or nonsupply of natural gas.

Energy Consumption Optimization of a Fluid Bed Dryer in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Using EDA (Exploratory Data Analysis)

In this paper, a data preprocessing methodology, EDA (Exploratory Data Analysis), is used for performing an exploration of the data captured from the sensors of a fluid bed dryer to reduce the energy consumption during the preheating phase. The objective of this process is the extraction of liquids such as water through the injection of dry and hot air. The time taken to dry a pharmaceutical product is typically uniform, independent of the product weight (Kg) or the type of product. However, the time it takes to heat up the equipment before drying can vary depending on different factors, such as the skill level of the person operating the machine. EDA (Exploratory Data Analysis) is a method of evaluating or comprehending sensor data to derive insights and key characteristics. EDA is a critical component of any data science or machine learning process. The exploration and analysis of the sensor data from experimental trials has facilitated the identification of an optimal configuration, with an average reduction in preheating time of one hour. For each processed batch of 150 kg in the fluid bed dryer, this translates into an energy saving of around 18.5 kWh, giving an annual energy saving of over 3.700 kWh.

In this paper a realistic and intuitive virtual environment of a distillation tower system is developed. The three-dimensional model of the system is based on a real system, which is replicated in Blender software to be later implemented in Unity, in order to simulate its behavior. By showing the evolution of the system, control and monitoring maneuvers are implemented, so that the virtual animation is similar to a real process. The application developed is intended to provide support in the learning process of an operator in the work area.

This paper describes preliminary results of the interdisciplinary research and development venture lead by The Military University of Technology, Warsaw, Poland. The main task of the project is to develop remote solutions that support dogs guide during different special activities. According to the law-enforcement operational procedures, system has been designed basing on three different modules: special dogs electronic vest, mobile command center and supporting UAV (Unnamed Airborne Vehicle) platform. Project integrates such technologies as GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System), IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), remote sensing tools and UAV platforms as a support device. General idea of the project comes from boarder control and law-enforcement forces whose big scope of work is related with K-9 dogs activity. The main functionality of the system is to monitor and control the K-9 dog during high level risk operations. The biggest challenge of the project is to develop official training and operational procedures suitable to the applied technology. This article presents general concept of the system and the results of validation process in scope of remote sensing (NIR, RGB) and navigation functionalities (GNSS). The set of tests has been taken with different methods and tools to establish efficient ergonomic solution. Possibilities of project application areas are also shown here in details.
