One of the most often used methods of summing divergent series in physics is the Borel-type summation with control parameters improving convergence, which are defined by some optimization conditions. The well known annoying problem in this procedure is the occurrence of multiple solutions for control parameters. We suggest a method for resolving this problem, based on the minimization of cost functional. control parameters can be introduced by employing the Borel-Leroy or Mittag-Leffler transforms. Also, two novel transformations are proposed using fractional integrals and fractional derivatives. New cost functionals are advanced, based on lasso and ridge selection criteria, and their performance is studied for a number of models. The developed method is shown to provide good accuracy for the calculated quantities.

Purpose: Therapeutic application of contactless thermoablation by high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) demands precise physical definition of focal size and determination of control parameters. Our objective was to define the focal expansion of a new ultrasound generator and to evaluate the extent of tissue ablation under variable generator parameters in an ex vivo modell. Materials and Methods: Axial and transversal distribution of ultrasound intensity in the area of the focal point was calculated by needle hydrophone. The extent of tissue necrosis after focused ultrasound was assessed in an ex vivo porcine kidney model applying generator power up to 400 Watt and pulse duration up to 8 s. Results: The measurement of field distribution revealed a physical focal size of 32 x 4 mm. Sharp demarcation between coagulation necrosis and intact tissue was observed in our tissue model. Lesion size was kept under control by variation of both generator power and impulse duration. At a constant impulse duration of 2 s, generator power of 100 W remained below the threshold dosis for induction of a reproducible lesion. An increase in power up to 200 W and 400 W, respectively, induced lesions with diameters up to 11.2 x 3 mm. Constant total energy (generator power x impulse duration) led to a larger lesion size under higher generator power. Conclusion: It is possible to induce sharply demarcated, reproducible thermonecrosis, which can be regulated by generator power and impulse duration, by means of a cylindrical piezo element with a paraboloid reflector at a focal distance of 10 cm. The variation of generator power was an especially suitable control parameter for the inducement of a defined lesion size.

Differential Evolution (DE) is considered as a simple yet influential search engine used for optimization of realvalued, multimodal and nonlinear functions. Here two new variants of the parent DE are presented with self-tuned control parameters and a modified mutation scheme. The First variant, designed by applying self-adaptive control parameters to the parent DE, is named as CPDE and the second one, the enhanced version of CPDE in which CPDE is embedded with a modified mutation scheme, is named as CPMDE. The crucial role of the self-adaptive control parameters can't be abandoned, which is used to improve the quality of the solution. The next application of self-adapted control parameters is drawn with a modified mutation operation in which the whole search space is divided into three equal parts for the sake of maximum exploration of the search space. A set of 14 traditional and 12 non-traditional (6 shifted and 6 hybrid) test problems is chosen for validation of the performance of the proposed algorithms which is then compared with the parent DE and some other variants of DE in terms of number of function evaluations, CPU time, error and standard deviation. Numerical and statistical results show that the proposed algorithm helps in providing a better trade-off between convergence rate and efficiency.

This paper presents a method based on co-simulation of a mechatronic system to optimize the control parameters of a two-axis inertially stabilized platform system (ISP) applied in an unmanned airship (UA), by which high control performance and reliability of the ISP system are achieved. First, a three-dimensional structural model of the ISP is built by using the three-dimensional parametric CAD software SOLIDWORKS (R);then, to analyze the system's kinematic and dynamic characteristics under operating conditions, dynamics modeling is conducted by using the multi-body dynamics software ADAMS, thus the main dynamic parameters such as displacement, velocity, acceleration and reaction curve are obtained, respectively, through simulation analysis. Then, those dynamic parameters were input into the established MATLAB((R)) SIMULINK (R) controller to simulate and test the performance of the control system. By these means, the ISP control parameters are optimized. To verify the methods, experiments were carried out by applying the optimized parameters to the control system of a two-axis ISP. The results show that the co-simulation by using virtual prototyping (VP) is effective to obtain optimized ISP control parameters, eventually leading to high ISP control performance.

Composting is being widely employed in the treatment of petroleum waste. The purpose of this study was to find the optimum control parameters for petroleum waste in-vessel composting. Various physical and chemical parameters were monitored to evaluate their influence on the microbial communities present in composting. The CO2 evolution and the number of microorganisms were measured as the activity of composting. The results demonstrated that the optimum temperature, pH and moisture content were 56.5 - 59.5 degreesC, 7.0 - 8.5 and 55 % - 60%, respectively. Under the optimum conditions, the removal efficiency of petroleum hydrocarbon reached 83.29% after 30 days composting.

To improve contour accuracy of bi-axial servo feed system and aim at the problem that conventional methods for tuning control parameters mainly depend on manual tuning and can hardly achieve desired performances. A novel method based on the improved genetic algorithm is proposed to tune control parameters on line, and to realize the dynamics optimal matching between motion axes. The adaptive crossover operation, adaptive mutation operation and elitism strategy are adopted to overcome the prematurity of population and to improve convergence rate effectively. In this paper, A self-adaptive strategy to determine the control parameters of Differential Evolution (DE) is proposed based on the elaborate analysis of intrinsic structure. The projection information of fitness function in differential direction is used to get the scale factor, while the difference between the local distance and global search range is applied to determine the crossover rate. This approach named as ITDE is tested by the benchmark functions including unconstrained uni-Modal, multi-Modal and bound-constrained ones, and the test results indicate the ITDE has good performance to balance the explorative and exploitative capability of algorithm than standard DE and easy to be implemented widely with many variants of DE algorithm.

Previous conclusions concerning the mechanisms of the bacterially catalysed oxidation of pyrite and arsenopyrite are reviewed. Further available experimental evidence is described and interpreted to give a more detailed mechanism for the reactions. The mechanistic conclusions are used to identify the parameters which are important in the control of the plant operation of the processing of gold-bearing refractory pyrite/arsenopyrite minerals. These parameters are the concentrations of iron(II) and (III), arsenic(III) and (V), and the values of pH, electrode potential, pulp density and the bacterial population.
