With the rapid development of Multimedia technology, the secure transmission of digital images over the Internet has become more and more important issue. To guarantee the security, a new selective image encryption scheme based on chaotic maps and dna coding has been proposed in this paper. Selective image encryption means that only the front four most significant bits of each image pixel is encrypted, so it can reduce half of image data and improve the encryption speed. XOR 192 bits plain information extracted from the least significant bits of the pixels with the secret key to influence the encryption process, so it is plaintext-dependent, which is an efficient to resist the chosen-plaintext attack. The extreme sensitivity of Logistic and Spatiotemporal chaotic system can greatly increase the complexity of the proposed selective image scheme. Eight dna coding rules are mixed to enhance the efficiency of image confusion and diffusion. Experimental simulation and analysis demonstrates the high security to resist different attacks and high efficiency with fast encryption speed, which can be practical in real applications.

in this communication, a Chaos Based Symmetric Key Encryption of RGB Color Images with dna coding and a Chaos based Pseudorandom Binary Number Generator (PRBNG) has been proposed. In the proposed algorithm, the plain image is first scrambled using generalized Arnold Cat Map to achieve confusion. The scrambled image pixel are converted to dna codes and again reconverted to integers where the choice of dna coding rule is made pseudorandom based on the binary sequences generated by chaos based pseudorandom binary number generator. The integers thus obtained are diffused by performing exclusive OR operation with the integer sequences generated by 1D Logistic map producing the cipher image. The experimental results depicts that the proposed algorithm can successfully encrypt and decrypt RGB color images with secret keys. The simulation analysis also exhibit that the proposed method is loss-less, secure and efficient measured in terms of statistical tests(like histogram analysis, correlation coefficient analysis, measures of central tendency and dispersion), key sensitivity test, key space analysis, information entropy test, encryption quality by MSE, PSNR, NPCR and UACI.

An image encryption algorithm based on hyperchaotic system and dna coding

A chaotic image encryption scheme combining block scrambling and dna coding is proposed. The chaotic sequences generated by Chen hyperchaotic system are used for inter-block index scrambling and intra-block FisherYates scrambling. Then the index sequence is used to further scramble the image to further enhance the encryption effect. The pixel value of the image is initially changed by chaotic sequence, and diffused by different dna coding rules and different operation rules corresponding to chaotic sequence. After decoding the dna matrix, the final encrypted image is obtained. The initial values and parameters of the chaotic system are generated by SHA-512 hash function and plaintext image. The experimental results and various security analysis show that the algorithm has good encryption effect and can resist common attacks such as chosen-plaintext attacks, clipping attacks and noise attacks.

As digital communication and storage continue to expand, the protection of image privacy information becomes increasingly critical. To safeguard sensitive visual information from unauthorized access, this paper proposes a novel image encryption scheme that integrates multiobjective Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) optimization algorithm and dna coding. Multiple evaluation metrics including correlation relationship, Number of Pixel Change Rate (NPCR), Unified Average Changing Intensity (UACI), and information entropy are collaboratively optimized by the ABC algorithm. The proposed method begins with the application of the SHA-256 algorithm to generate keys and random sequences using chaotic systems. These sequences are then employed for shuffling, dna coding, decoding, and diffusion, generating initial encrypted images. Subsequently, the encrypted images serve as individuals within the ABC algorithm to determine optimal parameters of the chaotic systems and the best ciphertext image. Simulation experiments demonstrate that the ciphertext images achieved excellent results in information entropy, pixel correlation coefficient, NPCR, and UACI. The integration of the multiobjective ABC optimization algorithm with dna coding in our proposed image encryption scheme results in heightened security, as evidenced by superior performance in various metrics.

In this work, several new aspects of the dynamics of the well-known TNC hyperchaotic oscillator are investigated. Numerous novelties appear in this work, namely particular structures of space magnetization, the coexistence of bursting patterns, the coexistence of up to four asymmetric different attractors, offset-boosting, and antimonotonicity. In addition to this interesting and particular combination of features in the TNC oscillator, the control of multistability phenomenon is carried out using linear augmentation control scheme. Finally, knowing that the protection of digital images is of particularly great interest, the complexity of pseudo-random hyperchaotic sequences of the TNC oscillator is combined with the similarity that the dna coding shares with the binary code to build a new image encryption algorithm with strong robustness and high speed. This algorithm is successfully evaluated using cropping attack, noise attack and differential attack. The results obtained demonstrate that the proposed algorithm is efficient and of good quality.

Image security becomes increasingly critical as the multimedia technology and Internet of things evolve rapidly. To ensure image security and improve the efficiency of image encryption, a novel image encryption algorithm is proposed in this paper. Firstly, a novel one-dimensional hybrid chaotic map is proposed and employed to obtain the chaotic sequences to be used in the permutation and diffusion processes. Secondly, an improved Zigzag transformation is employed to permute the plain image. Thirdly, the dynamic quaternary dna coding and operations are used to diffuse the permuted image. In the diffusion process, the dna encoded image is permuted using the index sequence to further enhance the permutation effect. Finally, a look-up table method is proposed to quickly obtain the dna operation results. The experimental results and the security analyses illustrate that the proposed algorithm has an excellent performance in terms of encryption effect, key space, key sensitivity, statistical performance, differential attack, encryption quality, robustness, execution time and computational complexity. Therefore, the proposed algorithm can be applied to some fields with high confidentiality requirements, such as military, commercial and medical fields.

Image encryption is a commonly used method to secure medical data on a public network, playing a crucial role in the healthcare industry. Because of their complex dynamics, memristors are often used in developing novel chaotic systems that can improve the efficiency of encryption algorithms based on chaos. In this work, we propose a novel locally active memristor-based chaotic circuit model and present a real time hybrid image encryption application developed on a PYNQ-Z1 (Python Productivity for Zynq) low-cost FPGA board using Jupiter programming environment. The proposed hybrid algorithm combines memristor-based chaos with a dna (deoxyribonucleic acid) encryption algorithm exploiting diffusion-confusion technique. We initially present a new compact and inductorless chaotic circuit, derive the model equations, and then verify its chaotic dynamics numerically through the investigation of the phase portraits, Lyapunov exponents and the bifurcation diagrams. We further implement the chaotic circuit experimentally with discrete elements. The randomness of the chaotic sequence is improved using Trivium and von Neumann post-processor algorithms and assessed through the NIST tests. Finally, the performance of the encryption algorithm is evaluated through various metrics, including histogram and correlation analyses, differential attack, information entropy, as well as data-loss and noise attack, demonstrating its security and suitability for real-time encryption systems.

Securing color images using dna coding and cosine stockwell transformation in wavelet domain

In this paper, a color image encoding algorithm is developed using cosine stockwell trans-formation and dna coding in wavelet domain. Firstly, a color image is decomposed into its primary color components and then each component is wavelet transformed, which results four subbands for each component. The approximation subband of wavelet transformation is normalized and dna coding is used followed by the proposed double phase encoding while the detail wavelet subbands are cosine stockwell transformed to get intermediate sub-images. The modified approximation and detail subbands are arranged by their indexing and pseudo random permutation is used to generate an encrypted image. At the receiver end, on having the exact knowledge of all the keys in correct order the original image can be recovered from the encrypted image. The bands of DCST, Tent Sine map is used to generate the random phase mask and key for pseudo random permutation is used as encryption and decryption keys. Numerical analysis and robustness of proposed work is evaluated on encrypted image to show the superiority of proposed work.

Sparse representation based compressive video encryption using hyper-chaos and dna coding

This work proposes a new and efficient sparse representation-based spatial compression of video signals integrated with a hyper-chaotic dna coding-based encryption module that provides higher security. The betterment of compression efficiency is achieved by introducing sparse coding on the video frames, and higher security is obtained by applying 5D hyper-chaotic dna coding on the sparse coded frames. This novel technique is applied to a large set of video signals for testing and compares its performance with some recently proposed video coding and encryption systems. To test and measure the efficiency and reliability of different encoding and encryption schemes, we consider a set of well-defined quality metrics, e.g., compression ratio, bit rate in compression, PSNR, NPCR, UACI, correlation coefficients, and histogram analysis, and measure the values of those metrics for different encoding and encryption modules. In addition, an ablation analysis is done. It shows improved quality matrices when we utilize dna coding along with the 5D hyper-chaotic system-based encryption mechanism. We also perform the differential attack analysis for testing the security of the encryption modules. The quantitative measurements of these quality metrics for different algorithms demonstrate the superiority of the proposed algorithm to the other algorithms in efficiency, quality, and security. Cryptanalysis of an image encryption algorithm using quantum chaotic map and dna coding

Recently, an image encryption algorithm using Quantum Chaotic Map and dna coding (QCMDC-IEA) has been reported. It consists of two main components: pixel-level permutation and dna domain substitution. To support its ability to withstand various attacks, several security analyses and experimental simulations were presented. However, after careful cryptanalysis, we found that QCMDC-IEA has inherent fatal security problems. Although formally using complex chaos and dna encoding, the chaos-based sequences used for encryption in QCMDCIEA are independent of a plain image such that it suffers from the defect of the existence of an equivalent key. Moreover, the lack of confusion and diffusion in dna domain encryption makes it vulnerable to cryptographic attacks. dna domain encryption is then essentially a 2-bit data substitution process, so it can be equivalently simplified. On this basis, we propose an attack method to crack QCMDC-IEA, which first obtains an equivalent permutation key by differential cryptanalysis, and then eliminates the dna domain substitution based on a chosen-plaintext attack using only four special plain images and their corresponding cipher images, and finally recovers the original plain images. Our attack method takes full advantage of the security defects in QCMDCIEA and achieves complete decipherment with low complexity, thus better revealing its intrinsic security mechanism. To improve the security performance, some security enhancement suggestions are recommended for similar cryptosystems. Both theoretical analysis and experimental simulation results show that the proposed cryptographic attack method is effective and feasible for QCMDC-IEA with low attack complexity. Therefore, the cryptanalysis work in this paper can provide some theoretical hints for improving the security of a class of image encryption algorithms based on dna coding and chaos.
