Real-time and accurate traffic flow prediction is one of the key technologies of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). Traditional traffic flow prediction models cannot extract the spatio-temporal characteristics of road traffic flow well. To solve the problem, this paper proposes a short-term traffic flow prediction model based on Dynamic Time Warping (dtw) algorithm and Bi-directional Gated Recurrent Unit (BiGRU) network. The DWT algorithm is used to extract the spatial features of the traffic flow, and the extracted spatio-temporal feature matrix is input to BiGRU network for temporal features extraction. Experimental verification shows that the predicted root mean square error (RMSE) of the dtw-BiGRU model is 20.46% and 21.03% smaller than the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network and Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) network, respectively. The results show that the dtw-BiGRU model is an effective short-term traffic flow prediction model.

Research on Health Monitoring based on Speech Signal Analysis Technology

This paper aims to explore the technical application and implementation of speech recognition algorithm in health monitoring system. Speech recognition mainly uses dtw algorithm and MFCC algorithm, and cooperates with the collection and analysis of datasets to realize the extraction of user speech features and the recognition of health status. This paper will introduce the relevant background knowledge and concepts of speech recognition, analyse and explain the implementation of the algorithm, support the results and efficiency of the algorithm through MATLAB simulation, and finally discuss the advantages, disadvantages and application prospects of this research.

A time series representation of protein sequences for similarity comparison

Based on the physicochemical indexes of 20 amino acids and the Hungarian algorithm, each amino acid was mapped into a vector. And, the protein sequence can be represented as time series in eleven-dimensional space. In addition, the dtw algorithm was applied to calculate the distance between two time series to compare the similarities of protein sequences. The validity and accuracy of this method was illustrated by similarity comparison of ND5 proteins of nine species. Furthermore, homology analysis of eleven ACE2 proteins, which included human, Malayan pangolin and six species of bats, confirmed that the human had shorter evolutionary distance from the pangolin than those bats. The phylogenetic tree of spike protein sequences of 36 coronaviruses, which were divided into five groups, Class I, Class II, Class III, SARS-CoVs and COVID-19, was constructed. Rotor position tolerant detection method for SRM drive system with misaligned position sensors

Accurate rotor position is necessary for the control of switched reluctance motors (SRMs). Generally, three position sensors are ideally installed 120 electrical degrees apart for three-phase SRMs. However, the placement of position sensors may be inaccurate, particularly in small-size SRMs, and there is no method reported to deal with this problem up to now. Firstly, the position signals and the influence of the misaligned sensors on the detected rotor position are investigated. Then a novel method is developed to identify the misaligned position sensors with dynamic time warping (dtw) algorithm. The dtw distance versus the misaligned angle is calculated, and the relationship between them is described with linear regression analysis algorithm. Then the rotor position tolerant detection method is realised by compensating the misaligned angle in real time. Finally, comparative experiments are carried out on a three-phase 12/8 SRM drive system, and it can be found that the proposed strategy is capable of providing an accurate rotor position for the SRM drive system. The presented method is easy for online implementation and can be integrated into the control system conveniently.

Breathing pattern and heart rate can be major indicators of a person's physical condition, and an easy way to measure the vital signs can be useful in health monitoring. In this paper, we propose a new method for identifying the changes in breathing and heart rate pattern of a person using commercial WiFi devices. The amplitude of signal waves can represent the periodic up-and-down chest movements caused by breathing and heartbeat, and prominent changes of the signal pattern can be detected by using the Dynamic Time Warping algorithm. We verified the feasibility of the proposed method in real testbeds and evaluated the method through various experiments with 10 participants. The proposed method achieves 94% accuracy in identifying a subjects physical status. This low-cost method will be useful for monitoring our health in everyday life.

The article describes an alternative for the rehabilitation of upper and lower limbs using visual feedback to treat the sequelae of stroke. The Framework contains three-dimensional scenarios which require patient immersion in an intuitive exercise routine supervised by the attending therapist, who further corroborates visually the progress of the recovery. This work is also supported by a dtw algorithm. The algorithm is based on the collection of data through tracking sensors and the identification of the exercise patterns performed by the patient. The delivering of a satisfactory response in case the exercise is completed correctly will support the evaluation of the therapist in the advance of the therapy. The experimental results show the execution of the exercises proposed with different users in order to validate the usability of the framework. © 2018

Dynamic time warping in phoneme modeling for fast pronunciation error detection

The presented paper describes a novel approach to the detection of pronunciation errors. It makes use of the modeling of well-pronounced and mispronounced phonemes by means of the Dynamic Time Warping (dtw) algorithm. Four approaches that make use of the dtw phoneme modeling were developed to detect pronunciation errors: Variations of the Word Structure (VoWS), Normalized Phoneme Distances Thresholding (NPDT), Furthest Segment Search (FSS) and Normalized Furthest Segment Search (NFSS). The performance evaluation of each module was carried out using a speech database of correctly and incorrectly pronounced words in the Polish language, with up to 10 patterns of every trained word from a set of 12 words having different phonetic structures. The performance of dtw modeling was compared to Hidden Markov Models (HMM) that were used for the same four approaches (VoWS, NPDT, FSS, NFSS). The average error rate (AER) was the lowest for dtw with NPDT (AER=0.287) and scored better than HMM with FSS (AER=0.473), which was the best result for HMM. The dtw modeling was faster than HMM for all four approaches. This technique can be used for computer-assisted pronunciation training systems that can work with a relatively small training speech corpus (less than 20 patterns per word) to support speech therapy at home. This paper proposes a new mobile phone user authentic scheme. It discerns a particular user by the smartphone sensor data which is collected when he picks his phone up from table. The data from phone sensors which collected by preprocessing method, it includes denoising, interception and normalization. Precondition the sensor data with denoising and signal truncating technology, then normalize it, finally classify the data by Dynamic Time Warping (dtw) algorithm. This scheme also has the intelligent anti-theft function. Experiments showed that this scheme achieved good results: False Acceptance Rate (FAR) is 13.1%, False Reject Rate (FRR) is 11%.

Accelerometer-based gesture recognition enables natural user interaction of handheld tools with PC and other devices. Dynamic time warping (dtw) can achieve high recognition accuracy and does not require extensive training. However, for applications with noisy data and limited data bandwidth, the performance of dtw algorithm decreases significantly. We propose a new gesture recognition method that is robust to low quality signals. We introduce a simple template selection step to obtain robust templates for dtw. Our experimental results show that our algorithm achieves an average 92% classification accuracy even under noisy and low bandwidth situations.
