In the practical application of node positioning in the Internet of Things (TOT), the distribution of beacon nodes is generally nonuniform, so there is a certain error in positioning accuracy. In order to make the positioning more accurate, The MMSdv-hop localization algorithm which improved dv-hop localization algorithm is proposed in this paper. At first, this algorithm needs to determine the valid beacon nodes in a local range by selecting threshold value, and after using minimization criterion of mean square error and correcting to obtain the final average hop distance. The dynamic weight is added with the hop number and the number of valid nodes as weights to determine the distance between the unknown nodes and the beacon nodes. A Weighted centroid localization algorithm and a weighted least square method are used to obtain an estimated position separately and the final position is determined by the arithmetic mean value of the two estimated positions. The Matlab simulation experiment shows that compared with the dv-hop localization algorithm, the improved MMSdv-hop localization algorithm has increased significantly in the positioning accuracy. Rang-free distributed localization algorithm has advantages of low power consumption, low cost etc, but it is weak in the localization accuracy, energy consumption of localization and the algorithm extend ability. That can not meet to the needs of practical application. To overcome the disadvantage of dv-hop algorithm, in this paper, Two aspects improved algorithm are proposed based on the characteristics research of the original dv-hop localization algorithm, which are the coverage area of beacon nodes and average size for one hop received by unknown nodes. Simulation results prove their validity and show the performance of the improvement algorithms is superior to the original dv-hop algorithm.

Because of the dv-hop algorithm has a big error in the estimation of the average hop distance, this paper proposed a weighted hop distance correction localization algorithm. The improved algorithm is carried out by introducing the average hop distance error correction value of the weighting processing, thereby reducing the hop distance error, and avoid the accumulation of errors in the subsequent computation process. The simulation results show that the improved dv-hop algorithm reduces localization error effectively and has good stability without additional devices;therefore, it is a practical localization solution for WSN.

In the field of wireless sensor network, positioning accuracy of the sensor in a network is directly related to the method for getting of or computing the data of sensor positions. An algebraic reconstruction technique based dv-hop location algorithms is presented in order to reduce the localization error and much consume in computation of original dv-hop localization algorithm based on the least square method principle. The analysis and simulation shows that the presented algorithm has obviously reduced the average localization error in the wireless sensor network.

Aiming at the problem of poor positioning accuracy of the traditional distance vector-hop(dv-hop) localization algorithm which achieves positioning according to the network topology relations and the anchor nodes' locations,an improved twice-refinement dv-hop localization algorithm based on received signal strength indicator(RSSI) auxiliary ranging and unknown node error correction using its own centroid is proposed in this *** improved algorithm uses RSSI ranging technology to get the distance between adjacent nodes for auxiliary positioning,and also uses the centroid coordinates of the unknown nodes to correct their own initial positioning results,then re-positions the unknown nodes by using the corrected *** results show that,in the same experimental environment,compared with the traditional dv-hop algorithm and several current improved dv-hop algorithms,without additional hardware expenditures,the improved dv-hop algorithm of this paper only needs the nodes with RSSI indicator function and adds a little computation and communication overhead,greatly reduces the node localization error and improves the localization accuracy.

dv-hop algorithm is a range free algorithm that uses hop distance in its calculations. An improved dv-hop algorithm is proposed by changing the average hop-size. The evaluation of the performance was carried out on wireless sensor network localization. Sensors were placed according to two functions;pseudo random and sobol quasi random. The latter was chosen because it guarantees space coverage when space dimensions increase. Localization errors are compared to those of the basic dv-hop algorithm. The proposed algorithm proved effectiveness in remarkably decreasing the localization error of the sensors. An important application is in a nuclear power plant process control test facility (NPCTF) where a wireless sensor network is an effective tool to collect data for fault diagnostics. The location of the fault is crucial. Hence, minimum localization error is of utmost importance.

In recent years, the wireless sensor network has become a fundamental research area in smart farm and smart irrigation applications. In smart farming applications, the sensors can be scattered randomly via an aircraft, or an airplane,to detect and collect a set of climatic and environmental parameters. The data collected by the sensor nodes don't matter if their locations are unknown. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the location of sensor nodes for correctly interpreting the detected information of communication between nodes. In this case, the location of the sensor nodes is carried out by the use of a set of localization systems such as GPS, GSM, and UWB. These last ones produce a major drawback in terms of huge energy consumption, high cost, and low accuracy in some zone. To resolve these problems, extensive research is being carried out to integrate the range-based or range-free localization algorithm into nodes sensors to improve the localization accuracy. In this paper, we present the performance evaluation of some improved versions of the dv-hop localization algorithm existing in the literature. Thus, we study the impact of variation in the number of anchor nodes, the number of unknown nodes, and the communication range on the minimum mean square error(MMSE) of these algorithms. In order to make a comparison between the dv hop algorithm and these versions, we extract a more practical, innovative version.

In the view of the dv-hop positioning algorithm which relies on the distance vector and beacon nodes, several aspects are improved: the average hop distance and hop count are corrected;a method to detect the abnormal distribution of beacon nodes is used to avoid the influence of the abnormal distribution on the positioning performance. The proposed algorithm is simple and effective. Simulation results show that compared with the traditional dv-hop algorithm, the performance of the proposed algorithm is greatly improved. The performance is even even superior to that of the algorithm mentioned in literature [10]

A fundamental problem in designing sensors network is locating their position. The data collected from the sensors can be used to detect, track and organize objects of interest. In this paper, we present and evaluate an improvement of the famous dv-hop algorithm in order to increase the localization accuracy and reduce energy consumption. The benefits of the suggested algorithm are twofold. First, it uses a new technique for solving an N-equation system and a weighted least squares method (WLS) to minimize the error of the expected distance between anchor and unknown nodes. Second, this method uses the hop-size average of the anchor node, which is computed by unknown nodes, to reduce the overall communication cost between nodes. This yields a significant reduction in both energy consumption and execution time. The performance of our proposed approach was evaluated and compared to other classical algorithms. Results show that significant enhancement is achieved within the proposed algorithm when measuring different metrics such as energy, execution time and localization error while varying simulation parameters such as the total number of nodes, percentage of anchor node and communication range.

Localization technology is one of the key technologies in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). The Centroid algorithm, dv-hop algorithm, APIT algorithm and Amorphous are the classic algorithms which are based on Range-free localization algorithm. This paper is improved on the basis of the dv-hop and Weighted dv-hop node localization algorithm, proposed an improved dv-hop and weighted dv-hop of WSN localization algorithm based on Simulation Curve Fitting (SCF). The SCF algorithm makes the process more refined during selecting the beacon node and the selected beacon node can be closer to the accurate position.
