The 3G technology brings a great increase of wireless data transmission capacity, makes it possible for mobile map services. The map service publishing method and data transmission rate directly affect the user experience effect. This paper has released different types and sizes of maps based on three environments, the simulator, TD-SCDMA and Wi-Fi, tested the time required for mobile map transmission, and used the Grubbs method for denoising. By the further analysis of map data transmission under different circumstances, it provides a reliable theoretical reference for efficiency improvement and further development of mobile map services.

data flow testing is a white box testing approach that uses the dataflow relations in a program for the selection of test cases. Evolutionary testing uses the evolutionary approaches for the generation and selection of test data. This paper presents a novel approach applying evolutionary algorithms for the automatic generation of test paths using data flow relations in a program. Our approach starts with a random initial population of test paths and then based on the selected testing criteria new paths are generated by applying a genetic algorithm. A fitness function evaluates each chromosome (path) based on the selected data flow testing criteria and computes its fitness. We have applied one point crossover and mutation operators for the generation of new population. The approach has been implemented in Java by a prototype tool called ETODF for validation. In experiments with this prototype, our approach has much better results as compared to random testing.

Software testing is an evaluation mechanism that signifies the importance of software quality assurance, which will evaluate a particular system to check if it will satisfy all the requirements specified by the user. One cannot underestimate the importance of software testing. The wider perceptibility of software systems and the cost, which is related to the software failure are driving factors for efficient planning through testing. In this paper, we elaborate on the Unit testing and data flow testing techniques applied on Object-oriented Programming and Aspect-oriented Programming. Moreover a tabular contrast of both the techniques is presented representing the differences between both the techniques.

Automatic test case generation is a major problem in software testing. Evolutionary structural testing is an approach to automatically generate test cases that uses a Genetic Algorithm (GA) which is guided by the data How dependencies in the program to search for test data to cover the clef-use association. The Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) approach is a swarm intelligence technique which can be used to generate test data automatically. We have proposed an algorithm to generate test cases using PSO for data flow testing. We have simulated both the evolutionary and swarm intelligence techniques. From the experiments it has been observed that PSO outperforms GA in 100% clef-use coverage percentage.

Programs using service-oriented architecture (SOA) often feature ultra-late binding among components. These components have well-defined interfaces and are known as web services. Messages between every pair of web services dually conform to the output interface of a sender and the input interface of a receiver. Unit testing of web services should not only test the logic of web services, but also assure the correctness of the web services during input, manipulation, and output of messages. There is, however, little software testing research in this area. In this paper, we study the unit testing problem to assure components written in orchestration languages, WS-BPEL in particular. We report an empirical study of the effectiveness of the Frankl-Weyuker data flow testing criteria (particularly the all-uses criterion) on WS-BPEL subject programs. Our study shows that conventional data flow testing criteria can be much less effective in revealing faults in interface artifacts (WSDL documents) and message manipulations (XPath queries) than revealing faults in BPEL artifacts.

Design by Contract (DbC) is a methodology to construct quality software. DbC associates the contract specification (pre and postconditions of methods of class and class invariant) with the design of a class. In this paper, we combine data flow testing and Design by Contract to develop a testing technique called "data flow testing using Contract". In this technique a class flow graph is generated from the contract specification of the class and then conventional data flow testing is applied to find the test cases. The advantage of using contract specification is that: it is executable and hence a method in a test case is only executed if its precondition and class invariant are satisfied. If they are not satisfied then it leads to an infeasible sequence. Also, if after executing a method its postcondition is not satisfied then it leads to implementation error in the method We also compare the testing of a DbC class with a conventional class and find that the number of du pairs is reduced in a DbC class because some of the conditions in conventional class become the part of the precondition in a DbC class.

In recent years, Web applications have grown rapidly because of their abilities to provide online information access to anyone at anytime around the world. As Web applications become complex, there is a growing concern about their quality and reliability. This paper extends traditional data flow testing techniques to Web applications. Several data how issues about analyzing HyperText Markup Language (HTML) documents in Web applications are discussed. An object-based data how testing approach is presented. The approach is based on a test model that captures data flow test artifacts of Web applications. In the test model, each entity of a Web application is modeled as an object. The data flow information of the functions within an object or across objects is then captured using various flow graphs. Based on the object-based test model, data Row test cases for a Web application can be systematically and selectively generated in five different levels.

Preventing untestedness in data-flow based testing

A large number of path-oriented testing criteria have been proposed in the last twenty years. Surprisingly, almost all of them suffer from a serious weakness, which is called the untestedness syndrome: even though a criterion is satisfied, sonic statements of the program under test may remain `untested', i.e., the observed test output does not depend on them. A new data-flow based testing criterion is introduced which does not suffer from untestedness, called the All Program Function (APF) criterion. Intuitively, it requires that each possible computation to every output statement in a program be covered by some test;but for lots of programs APF would require an infinite number of tests. A second, applicable criterion is thus introduced, derived from APF and called the Basic Program Function (BPF) criterion. BPF leaves no statement untested and yields finite test suites. Some examples show the application of BPF and investigate the failure-detection capability of the proposed criterion. Copyright (C) 2001 John Wiley Sons, Ltd.

Web applications often rely on server-side scripts to handle HTTP requests, to generate dynamic contents, and to interact with other components. The server-side scripts are usually not checked by any compiler and, hence, can be error-prone. In this paper, we adapt traditional data flow testing techniques into the context of Java Server Pages (JSP), a very popular server-side script for developing Web applications with Java Technology. We point out that the JSP implicit objects and action tags can introduce several unique data flow test artifacts which need to be addressed. A test model is presented to capture the data flow information of JSP pages with considerations of various implicit objects and action tags. Based on the test model, we describe an approach to compute the intraprocedural, interprocedural, and sessional data flow test paths for uncovering the data anomalies of JSP pages. On subsumption relationships in data flow testing

data flow testing creates test requirements as definition-use (DU) associations, where a definition is a program location that assigns a value to a variable and a use is a location where that value is accessed. data flow testing is expensive, largely because of the number of test requirements. Luckily, many DU-associations are redundant in the sense that if one test requirement (e.g. node, edge and DU-association) is covered, other DU-associations are guaranteed to also be covered. This relationship is called subsumption. Thus, testers can save resources by only covering DU-associations that are not subsumed by other testing requirements. Although this has the potential to significantly decrease the cost of data flow testing, there are roadblocks to its application. Finding data flow subsumptions correctly and efficiently has been an elusive goal;the savings provided by data flow subsumptions and the cost to find them need to be assessed;and the fault detection ability of a reduced set of DU-associations and the advantages of data flow testing over node and edge coverage need to be verified. This paper presents novel solutions to these problems. We present algorithms that correctly find data flow subsumptions and are asymptotically less costly than previous algorithms. We present empirical data that show that data flow subsumption is effective at reducing the number of DU-associations to be tested and can be found at scale. Furthermore, we found that using reduced DU-associations decreased the fault detection ability by less than 2%, and data flow testing adds testing value beyond node and edge coverage.
