This paper presents a data pattern-to le rant adaptive equalizer using spectrum balancing method. In addition to a high-frequency boosting control loop, this equalizer has a corner frequency control loop to guarantee its adaptation accuracy for various data patterns and data rates. Measured results show that the jitter of the eye is reduced by maximum 37%. The chip fabrication is based on the 0.18 mu m CMOS process and the equalizer core occupies 0.35 mm(2) and consumes 85mW.

To read the patterns and to predict the ordinal and nominal data type, a researcher can use several statistical method such as Markov Chain Analysis. Each of those statistical methods have a different approach. Chain of event method is the statistical method made by the author which can be used by researchers as an alternative method to predict and interpret the pattern of time series data type. This method uses a different approach if we compare it with the other methods, namely by reading a random pattern of historical data and analyze a series of events that are most likely to occur in the future. It aims to overcome the weaknesses of the methods that existed before. Because this method has two functions, namely for the prediction and reading patterns, this method is tested using a separate statistical tests. To test its pattern reading ability, the author is used the sign test with significance level of 0.05, one-tail, and the samples were 30 data. To test the accuracy of predictions, the author is using two tests, the first is Wilcoxon sum rank test with significance level of 0.01, one-tail, and with sample number of 30 data. The second test is sign test with significance level of 0.05, one-tail, and with the amount of 30 samples of data. The results of these tests is satisfactorily. From the results of these tests, can be concluded that the pattern reading ability and accuracy of chain of event method is satisfying.

A Sensing Noise Compensation Bit Line Sense Amplifier for Low Voltage Applications

A new bit-line sense amplifier for improving performance in the presence of data-pattern-dependent sensing noise is analyzed. The proposed scheme utilizes the power drop phenomenon in the sense amplifier driving line, resulting in an 81.5% reduction in the amplitude of data-pattern-dependent sensing noise. It is very important to accurately model power drop in compensating data-pattern-dependent sensing noise. Simulation and measurement of the proposed sensing scheme show improvement of sensing noise over a conventional bit-line sense amplifier. Moreover, the type of sense amplifier driver circuit significantly affects the magnitude of the improvement. The impact of the sense amplifier driver layout is analyzed in order to better utilize the proposed scheme. Finally, an optimum data pattern noise insensitive sense amplifier and driver are proposed.

Serial link interconnection has generated a lot of attention in on-chip bus design due to its advantages over multibit parallel interconnection in terms of crosstalk, skew, and area cost. However, serializing a multi-bit parallel bus tends to increase the bit transition and power dissipation. This paper proposes an embedded transition inversion (ETI) coding scheme that uses the phase difference between the clock and data in the transmitted serial data to address the problem of the extra indication bit. This ETI coding scheme reduces the transition by up to 31% compared with the encoding followed by serial (ES) scheme. The analysis and simulation results, in this study indicate that the proposed coding scheme produces a low bit transition for different kinds of data pattern.

Cryptographic algorithms are widely used inside software for data security and integrity. The search of cryptographic data (include algorithms, input-output data and intermediated states of operation) is important to security analysis. However, various implementations of cryptographic algorithms lead the automatic detection and analysis to be very hard. This paper proposes a novel automatic cryptographic data detection and analysis approach. This approach is based on execution tracing and data pattern extraction techniques, searching the data pattern of cryptographic algorithms, and automatically extracting detected Cryptographic algorithms and input-output data. We implement and evaluate our approach, and the result shows our approach can detect and extract common symmetric ciphers and hash functions in most kinds of programs with accuracy, effectiveness and universality.

Temperature dependence of turn-on time delay of semiconductor laser diode: Theoretical analysis

Temperature dependence of the turn-on time delay (t(on)) of uncooled semiconductor laser diodes biased below and above threshold is analyzed in presence of data pattern effect. We show that even when the laser is biased at or slightly above threshold, the increase in temperature of operation will lead to increase in the threshold carrier (N-th) and consequently the laser diode will be biased below the threshold again and a significant value of t(on) will be produced. Thus, knowledge about a value of dc-bias current required to achieve zero t(on) within wide range of temperature degrees is important when considering uncooled laser diode in high-speed optical communication systems. The temperature dependence of t(on) is calculated according to the temperature dependence of N-th and Auger recombination coefficient (C) and not by the well-know exponentional relationship of threshold current with temperature. The temperature dependence of N-th is calculated according to the temperature dependence of laser cavity parameters. Advanced analytical model is derived in term of carrier density, recombination coefficients and the injection current (I-inj). The validity of proposed model is confirmed by a numerical method. In addition, approximated models are included where under specified assumptions the proposed model reduces to the well-known approximate models of t(on). According to our typical values and at a specified value of modulation current, the dc-bias one (I-ib) should be increased from I-ib = I-th to I-ib a parts per thousand 1.25 and 1.5I(th) in order to achieve approximately zero t(on) when the temperature increases from 25A degrees C to 55A degrees C and 85A degrees C, respectively.

Forecasting Production of Natural Rubber in India

In this paper an attempt is made to forecast the production of natural rubber in India by using monthly data for the period from January 1991 to December 2005. The forecasts are obtained up to December 2008 using Linear Trend Equation, Semi-log Trend Equation, Holt’s Method, Winter’s Method and ARIMA Model. The accuracy of forecast obtained through various methods is compared with the monthly actual production data of natural rubber for the period from January 2006 to March 2007, the last month for which actual production data were available. This period is also used as a hold-out sample. It is found that Winter’s method gives the best result followed by Holt’s method and Semi-log trend equation. The MAPE of Winter’s, Holt’s method, and Semi-log trend equation are 8.01 per cent, 8.09 per cent and 8.12 per cent respectively. It is therefore suggested that Winter’s method could be used for forecasting the natural rubber production in India. The forecasting method for production of natural rubber in India, as shown in this paper, can be a very useful tool for the Indian rubber industry professionals and policy makers in India.

This paper presents information theory and statistical analysis as two fundamental conceptual tools for data mining. A data mining technique based on these two conceptual tools consists of three steps. The first step is a statistical approach for discovering data patterns. The second step is an information-theoretic approach for identifying models that encapsulate the statistical behavior of the data patterns. The last step is a probabilistic approach for pattern-based inference that uncovers unknown significant event patterns.

Prediction of recurrent geomagnetic disturbances by using adaptive filtering

Recurrent geomagnetic disturbances are an important part of geomagnetic activities, which are associated with the neutral sheet structure in the heliosphere and the activities of long lived solar coronal holes. Another significant character is the periodic activities recorded by geomagnetic indices. In this paper an algorithm-Adaptive Filtering (AF), is introduced to forecast recurrent geomagnetic events based on the geomagnetic K index. Adaptive filtering can deal with nonstationary data and can adapt to changes in the data pattern. Therefore it is a very helpful method for forecasting the geomagnetic disturbances and the disturbances in the interplanetary space. By using AF technique a prediction for whole Bartels rotation can be obtained when output length is taken as 27-point. For recurrent periods the prediction efficiency is about 30%, the correlation coefficient is 0.55. For nonrecurrent periods the prediction efficiency and correlation coefficient decrease obviously, but the standard variance does not change very much.
