Modular PC-based data acquisition and processing system for biological signals

The data acquisition system described here is designed for biomedical research and permits the recording of up to eight biological signals simultaneously. A personal computer using the Windows 95 operating system is employed for data monitoring, data processing and analysis during experiments. The system has been designed for reliability, economy, flexibility and ease of handling, with the aim of achieving universal application. To avoid interface incompatibility, problems with transfer protocols and the data formats of commercially available products, analog signals are used for further processing. The individual input channels are electrically isolated from one another and the PC to avoid ground loops, and for reasons of safety. An isolated voltage supply is available for pre-amplifiers and bridges. A bandwidth of 0-5 kHz and the maximum sampling rate of 12.5 kHz suffice to pick up higher frequency signals such as EMG and ENG. The modular software and hardware concepts permit the use of almost any desktop or laptop PC as a central processing unit. The PC handles documentation, data acquisition, data analysis and the preparation of publications. If needed, further analytical functions can be added in modular form. Finally, the option of saving data in the ASCII format permits processing of results with such standard software packages as Excel, Access, Matlab and Origin.

The data processing software system of Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) is composed of the image preprocessing system (IMPS) and the GOCI data processing system (GDPS). IMPS generate GOCI level 1B from raw satellite data and GDPS is the post-processing system to generate GOCI level 2. IMPS have a radiometric correction module as IRCM and a geometric correction module named as INRSM. The former is focused on equipment's mechanical noise reduction and radiometric accuracy and the latter image navigation and image registration accuracy by landmark matching method and image mosaic method. GDPS have the atmospheric correction algorithms, as the spectral shape matching method (SSMM) and the sun glint correction algorithm (SGCA), and BRDF algorithm to solve bi-directional problem. Several Case-II water analytical algorithms, like chlorophyll concentration, suspended sediment and dissolved organic matter, are contained in GDPS. Also, GDPS will generate the value added product like water quality, fishery ground information, water current vector, etc. During in-orbit test period planned six months after successful launch of satellite, IMPS and GDPS will be verified with respect to those requirements and algorithms and functionality and accuracy by pre-defined test procedure like test, inspection, demonstration. And then those configuration parameters will be modified and the algorithm descriptions will be updated. In this paper, we will present the preliminary analyzed results of data processing system test and update planning during in-orbit test.

Notice-to-Airmen Text-Error-Correction Method Based on Ccf-MacBERT and Knowledge Graph

With the exponential increase in the number of the Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs), the inefficiencies and high error rates of manual processing have become evident. To address these issues, NOTAMs from the Intelligence Center between September 2020 and October 2023 were used as the base data. By employing the trained Casv-Graph Neural Network model and the tianzege-Convolutional Neural Network model, the phonetic and morphological feature similarities of Chinese characters were outputted, and a knowledge graph with phonetic and morphological features as nodes was constructed. Based on the similarities, a database of similar characters was compiled and used as a correction medium for the BERT model. Synonyms from the database were used as masking objects during the masked language phase of the MacBERT model to mask the original text, thereby constructing the Ccf-MacBERT model. This approach improves the model's practical applicability and computational efficiency. When selecting synonyms with a similarity of 0.9 or higher and using the NOTAM-text data set, the training parameters of the model were superior to those of the existing NOTAM text-error-correction models.

For future Earth decadal survey missions, the NASA Earth Science Technology Office has emphasized new technology concepts in NASA's New Observing Strategies, such as SmallSat solutions with distributed and constellation architectures and onboard processing capabilities. However, to enable advanced onboard computing, NASA requires more cutting-edge single-board computers to support complex algorithms and modern development flows. Traditionally, onboard processing is limited to fully radiation-hardened computer systems, typically technology generations behind consumer electronics and more restrictive with size, power efficiency, and cost. To address these concerns, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center has developed the SpaceCube family of processors that combines radiation-hardened and commercial-off-the-shelf components to produce high-performance, yet reliable systems that leverage modern design tools. To demonstrate capabilities of the next-generation SpaceCube v3.0 Mini processor, a flight design for StereoBit, a high-priority decadal survey Earth-science application, was implemented. StereoBit addresses the challenge of probing structure and dynamics of atmosphere in three dimensions using multi-angle, multiplatform stereo methods. This paper illustrates the design process of transforming StereoBit science-application C code to hardware description language for Field Programmable Gate Arrays using High-Level Synthesis. This paper then presents results of StereoBit on SpaceCube v3.0 Mini and discusses advantages of High-Level Synthesis over traditional flows for application design-space exploration.

The LIA-2 radiographic complex created on the basis of a linear induction accelerator is a complex electrophysical facility with a large number of control objects. The nature of experiments performed with this complex requires its high reliability. The facility elements are powerful pulse high-voltage devices whose parameters can vary during operation. A system that automatically detects errors and failures by analyzing an ensemble of waveforms characterizing the operation of individual elements of the facility during tests is described. The analysis system is designed on the basis of the HDF5, Numpy, Scipy, Pytables, and Matplotlib software. The results of processing of the first experimental data are given.

This paper proposes a statistical analysis method of bus passenger flow based on machine learning model. The system includes data collection, data processing, data analysis and statistics and information processing modules. The system realizes the functions of passenger flow data from investigation input, processing adjustment, statistical analysis, result release and query. By establishing a traffic network analysis method based on machine learning, the transfer situation, passenger flow density and dynamic distribution characteristics of urban public transport are analyzed. Visually display and quantitatively analyze the changing characteristics of each time period of the day. In order to minimize the complexity of passenger data processing and passenger index calculation, a corresponding model is established to forecast passengers. The simulation verifies that this scheme can effectively improve the operation speed, efficiency and throughput of the system. This algorithm can reduce the cost of the system and ensure the security of the system. © 2023 IEEE.

Detection of interferences in an additive manufacturing process: an experimental study integrating methods of feature selection and machine learning

Additive manufacturing becomes a more and more important technology for production, mainly driven by the ability to realise extremely complex structures using multiple materials but without assembly or excessive waste. Nevertheless, like any high-precision technology additive manufacturing responds to interferences during the manufacturing process. These interferences - like vibrations - might lead to deviations in product quality, becoming manifest for instance in a reduced lifetime of a product or application issues. This study targets the issue of detecting such interferences during a manufacturing process in an exemplary experimental setup. Collection of data using current sensor technology directly on a 3D-printer enables a quantitative detection of interferences. The evaluation provides insights into the effectiveness of the realised application-oriented setup, the effort required for equipping a manufacturing system with sensors, and the effort for acquisition and processing the data. These insights are of practical utility for organisations dealing with additive manufacturing: the chosen approach for detecting interferences shows promising results, reaching interference detection rates of up to 100% depending on the applied data processing configuration.

L'appareil de conditionnement instrumental présenté permet d'assurer la programmation et le contrôle de la tâche exécutée par les animaux, ainsi que le codage de tous les évènements comportementaux. Les différents signaux peuvent être visualisés sur oscilloscope et polygraphe, ou sélectionnés pour la commande d'un appareil de traitement extérieur. Le dispositif comporte également une unité servant à la programmation de stimulations électriques et à l'analyse de leurs effets. An instrumental apparatus used to train animals is described. It allows to program various tasks and monitor the ensuing events. The different signals can be visualized and recorded on paper tape or sent out to data processing systems. The apparatus also allows to program electrical stimulations and monitor the resulting effects.

Streaming Remote Sensing data processing for the Future Smart Cities: State of the Art and Future Challenges

The explosion of data and the increase in processing complexity, together with the increasing needs of real-time processing and concurrent data access, make remote sensing data streaming processing a wide research area to study. This paper introduces current situation of remote sensing data processing and how timely remote sensing data processing can help build future smart cities. Current research on remote sensing data streaming is also introduced where the three typical and open-source stream processing frameworks are introduced. This paper also discusses some design concerns for remote sensing data streaming processing systems, such as data model and transmission, system model, programming interfaces, storage management, availability, etc. Finally, this research specifically addresses some of the challenges of remote sensing data streaming processing, such as scalability, fault tolerance, consistency, load balancing and throughput.
