We present an outline of our microcomputer-based Local Area Network (LAN) system designed to process information related to perinatal events. This system enables any of the medical personnel to use a microcomputer terminal installed at the bedside and also to process, in a real-time manner, new input-information together with past information, thereby correlating the processing of medical information to actual clinical care. In addition, using the utility subsystem, a more desired form of data-out-put can be substituted for conventional hand-prepared clinical charts. Over a 3-month test period for clinical use, it became evident that this could serve as a suitable prototype system capable of covering the entire scope of information required by perinatologists. This system also enables any form of statistical assessment to be made of events, such as calculating the perinatal mortality rate and the incidence of preeclampsia. Problems arising from the clinical application of this system are given immediate attention and appropriate steps taken.

In the few decades that computers have been used by society, our perception of them and their uses has developed several times;computation machine, data processing system, information processingsystem. Another development is occurring today;process support system. By 2001 this development will itself be established and become the basis for the next development in the continuing evolution of our use of machines. To date, we have concentrated on satisfying the information needs of the individual. Our development methods and the infrastructure products we use all assume a model in which the computer takes information in from the individual, stores and processes it, and makes it available again to the individual. In the coming years, those information needs will still have to be satisfied, but increasingly within a much larger context;that of the group carrying out a business process. The products are currently leading the way, suggesting solutions;workflow management, workgroup computing, document image processing etc. The challenge for the late 1990s is to develop the systematic methods that will take us from requirements to group support system in a reliable and predictable way, in the same way that the structured methods of the 1970s worked for our data- and information-oriented systems.

Loropetalum chinense var. rubrum accessions in China have not been adequately characterized for their morphological traits. Such characterization would be helpful in the development of improved cultivars and in cultivar classification. In this study, the morphological traits of 23 accessions were evaluated in spring, summer, and autumn to determine their phenotypic diversity. Cluster analysis with average distance was performed for the main traits of leaf and flower using data processing system software. The morphological investigation indicated that the number of flowering accessions and the flower number of L. chinense var. rubrum in spring were more than those in autumn. Only one accession (no. 13) yielded several flowers in summer. Some accessions had the same or similar color of leaf or flower in spring and autumn. Two accessions had the same flower color in spring and autumn, whereas others showed slightly different colors in spring and autumn. The 23 entries were grouped into four clusters in spring and five clusters in autumn based on multivariate analysis of nine classification variables. Each cluster had some specific characteristics of its own. Generally, the cluster formed first because of the similarity in leaf color. The accessions with similar flower color formed subclusters within a cluster. These accessions are an important resource for the establishment of a core collection of L. chinense var. rubrum in the world. Several accessions with good qualities were selected and should be further tested for horticultural merit.

Sodium sulfate is separated from anionic surfactants on a separation column packed with strong anion exchange resin, and is detected by a post column derivatization method based on a chemical reaction between sulfate and ferric ion. A calibration curve shows a linear relationship in the range of 10\s-300 mg/100 mL for sodium sulfate. The lower limit of determination is 2 mg/100 mL. Anionic surfactants such as sodium alkylbenzene sulfonate and sodium alkyl sulfate do not interfere with the determination. A personal computer was connected to the chromatographic system for dataprocessing and control of an automatic sampler. This personal computer controlled liquid chromatographic system provides good recovery, reproducibility, agreement with conventional methods and full automatic determination.

With the increasing demand for real-time system monitoring and tracking in various contexts, the amount of time-stamped event data grows at an astonishing rate. Analytics on time-stamped events must be real time and the aggregated results need to be accurate even when data arrives out of order. Unfortunately, frequent occurrences of out-of-order data will significantly slow down the processing, and cause a large delay in the query response. Timon is a timestamped event database that aims to support aggregations and handle late arrivals both correctly (i.e., upholding the exactly-once semantics) and efficiently. Our insight is that a broad range of applications can be implemented with data structures and corresponding operators that satisfy associative and commutative properties. Records arriving after the low watermark are appended to Timon directly, allowing aggregations to be performed lazily. To improve query efficiency, Timon maintains a TS-LSM-Tree, which keeps the most recent data in memory and contains a time-partitioning tree on disk for high-volume data accumulated over long time span. Besides, Timon supports materialized aggregation views and correlation analysis across multiple streams. Timon has been successfully deployed at Alibaba Cloud and is a critical building block for Alibaba cloud's continuous monitoring and anomaly analysis infrastructure.

The GOCI data processing system (GDPS) has been verified in code level and function level and system level in each software development phase. GDPS will check the accuracy and performance of the processing by real-time dataprocessing for the generation of reliable ocean color remote sensing data during IOT.
