Prevent Deception: On-Demand data synchronization for Vehicle Digital Twins

In digital-twin-enabled heterogeneous vehicular networks (DT-HetVNets), vehicles need to synchronize data to their DTs deployed in the cloud for decision-making. However, for a vehicle which is simultaneously covered by a group of heterogeneous network infrastructures, the DT of the vehicle (DT-V) can connect with the DTs of infrastructures (DT-Is) in different infrastructure groups across regions in the virtual networks so that each DT-V may deceive the DT-Is by interacting with multiple DT-I groups and selecting the optimal one to synchronize data. To this end, we propose an on-demand data synchronization scheme for DT-Vs and DT-Is. In the scheme, infrastructures and vehicles are grouped based on their geographical locations and the arrival time of each vehicle through which the DT-Vs and DT-Is can interact with each other to make decisions in groups. Then, the requirements of DT-Vs (i.e., minimize synchronization cost and maximize synchronization satisfaction) and DT-Is (i.e., maximize profits) are considered to design their utility functions and the decision-making process between the DT-Vs in each group and the DT-Is in each group is formulated as a Stackelberg game to obtain their optimal strategies. After that, considering the deceptive behavior of vehicles, a joint optimization algorithm that integrates the Stackelberg game and the selection of each DT-V is designed to obtain the real equilibrium solution for DT-Vs and DT-Is to maximize their utilities. Simulation results show that our scheme can obtain the highest utilities compared with the traditional schemes.

After large-scale disasters, information sharing among people becomes more important than usual. This, however, is extremely difficult to achieve in disaster zones due to serious damage to the existing network infrastructure, power outages, and high traffic congestion. For the quick provision of alternative networks to serve heavy communication demands after disasters, establishing local area networks (LANs) consisting of portable servers with data storage has been considered as one of the most promising solutions. Based on the established LAN and a data server in each area, people can share many kinds of disaster-related information such as emergency information and supply/demand information via deployed neighboring servers. However, due to the lack of stable Internet connection, these servers are isolated and cannot be synchronized in real time. To enable and guarantee more efficient information sharing across the whole disaster-hit area, data stored on each server should be synchronized without the Internet. Our solution is to propose an intermittent data synchronization scheme that uses moving vehicles as relays to exchange data between isolated servers after disasters. With the objective of maximizing the total number of synchronized high priority data under the capability constraints of mobile relays, we first propose a data allocation scheme (DAS) from a server to a mobile relay. After that, we propose a trajectory planning scheme for the relays which is formulated as a Mixed Integer Linear Fractional Programming (MILFP) problem, and an algorithm to solve it efficiently. Extensive simulations and comparisons with other methods show the superior performance of our proposals.

This paper deals with solving of the data synchronization problem during the data retrieval from independent devices. The data - oscillometry and photoplethysmography signals - are acquired using three independent measuring devices connected to PC via USB ports. The task is to obtain synchronized data. It means the problem is to sample signals in each device at the same time. The sampling of signals is triggered by internal counters independently in each device, the counters are commonly synchronized by general synchronization packets. The presented sampling method is robust and independent of the state of operating system on superordinate PC.

This paper considers the downlink data synchronization from the digital twin (DT) to the vehicle, in which a vehicle drives through consecutive roadside units (RSUs) along its trip, and the DT on the cloud transmits the data to the vehicle through the relay of RSUs. To this goal, the DT first chops the data into blocks and cache them in the RSUs along the driving path of the vehicle. The vehicle can then retrieve the blocks when driving into the RSU's coverage to recover the data. Since RSUs have different cache capacities and communication costs, the DT needs to determine how to optimally distribute the data blocks at RSUs so that vehicles can finish downloading all the data before the deadline yet with the minimal cost. To determine the optimal delivery strategy of DT, we model the problem as an optimization framework subject to the time-varying wireless channel of RSUs, their service load and the communication cost. We then resort to the Lyapunov optimization to derive a distributed solution. Using extensive simulation results, we demonstrate that our scheme can effectively reduce the cost of data synchronization and improve the network load performance.

Various PHDs (Personal Healthcare Devices) have been developed to enable the easy monitoring of individual bio-signals. But while most of the related studies have dealt only with 1:1 communication between a PHD and a monitoring server, serious bottleneck problems at the monitoring server are inevitable in real world in which a very large number of PHD users are monitored. In this paper, data synchronization operations for a hierarchical monitoring system to be applied when a very large number of PHD clients are used are proposed. Detailed execution mechanisms for data synchronization operations are described. After every component uses XOR operations to calculate the difference between what it had in the past and what it has now, it stores the difference in its own table and sends the difference to the component in the upper layer in order to reduce storage/communication costs.

So far, INS/satellite integrated navigation systems have been applied widely in aviation, aircraft automatic approach and landing, land vehicle navigation and tracking, marine applications, and surveying, etc., due to their complementary characteristics. Before the data fusion, the synchronization of data from various systems is the vital challenge and significant guarantee of the integrated navigation system performance. A novel synchronization approach is presented that models the asynchronous time between INS and satellite system data and then estimates it on-line by the Kalman filter in the process of integration. Compared with other synchronization methods, this approach is simple but practical, without any increasing load of the system hardware. And simulation results indicate that the asynchronous time can be estimated real time and the estimated error is smaller than 0.1s. Meanwhile, the accuracy of the integrated navigation system is enhanced remarkably. On the ground of simulation results, it is demonstrated that the synchronization approach proposed in this article is effective.

The road safety and maintenance are very important and costly activities for road operators. Due to the decrease in the cost of the sensors technologies and wireless equipments, connecting maintenance fleet vehicles become very intuitive. It allows to enhance the efficiency and the reactivity of such services. In the present paper we describe an interconnection system that facilitates the data exchange between maintenance vehicles and Network Operation Center (NOC). We detail the data synchronization mechanism used by this system, which is equipping forty vehicles under tests. These tests showed that our system works well and enhance the efficiency of the road's maintenance and incidents' treatment.

In heterogeneous database environment, data synchronization is a major issue. For on any government initiative which includes pan India roll out invariably brings along challenges related to fetching of data from various locations like respective zones/states/districts etc, its synchronization, transformation and standardization. Moreover this data usually resides in various different databases like oracle, postgres, mysql, sqlserver etc to state the least. The need was felt to have a configurable low cost or open source utility which can fetch data incrementally or completely (according to the requirement) in regular (configurable) intervals of time with error tracking and correction mechanism. This paper presents the solution devised for this very problem.

Nowadays, users can store their important personal information in hand by using mobile computing and communications devices. These data must be synchronized between the different devices while being updated. data synchronization specified by SyncML (synchronization Markup Language). Using SyncML, any personal or business data, such as e-mail, calendar, contact, bank account, company file and document, product information, customer information, product price and to-do list will be accessible and updated at any time, no matter where the information is stored. However, compared with cable network, mobile computing environment has relatively smaller bandwidth and we need less transmission data to improve the synchronous rate. In this paper, we will analyze the SyncML architecture and protocol of synchronization technique, and use Huffman coding to compress synchronous data. Moreover, we have discussed compression in mobile computing environment.

Mobile devices have become primary computational platforms for many users. The prime constraints include storage and battery life. Energy saving can be provided as a service to mobile users via Mobile Cloud Computing. Offloading mobile applications to mobile cloud is one of the ways to conserve energy. Under this, heavy computations are performed remotely on the cloud, thereby reducing the energy utilization and enhancing the applications performance. But offloading must be applied only on certain selected applications based on their profiles, instead of offloading all the applications for better performance and energy savings. Moreover a continuous sync between mobile device and cloud results in high-energy requirement. synchronization to cloud must be based on certain validations to improve efficiency and resource utilization.
