This article explores the complex interplay between the visual, numerical and verbal elements of data visualisation and their role in shaping policy concerns. Focusing on the aesthetic and temporal dimensions of statistical graphics and drawing on the notion of diagram in the Deleuzian sense, the article emphasises the performative nature of data visualisation. More specifically, it explores how data visualisation suggests, rather than reveals, particular visions of educational pasts, presents and futures. Based on an analysis of graphs and charts selected from recent UNESCO and OECD reports, the article discusses the practices of the datafication of time and temporalisation and the beautification of data, which together produce 'beautiful evidence'. This evidence informs education policies and practices and affects the way education can be seen, known and acted upon.

In this paper, an IoT-driven data visualisation platform for smart environmental monitoring in Jitao is designed to construct a real-time, comprehensive and accurate auxiliary management platform for the production of Jitao by integrating the key technologies of environmental sensing, data processing, intelligent analysis and visualisation display. The platform consists of two parts, hardware and software. The hardware system mainly includes high-definition cameras, louver boxes (built-in sensors), soil temperature and humidity and pH sensors as well as wireless data transmission modules, which are used for real-time collection of environmental data; and the software system consists of a cloud database and a data visualisation system, which realises data storage, processing and visualisation display. Through the platform, users can monitor the growing environment of Jitao in real time, detect abnormalities and take measures in a timely manner. The test results show that the platform has accurate data collection and stable function operation, which is of great significance to improve the production efficiency and quality of Jitao.

Objectives: Domestic Abuse (DA) is a public health concern impacting multiple sectors. Partnerships and coordinated responses from statutory agencies are vital to ensure DA survivors' needs are met, but this is impeded by the accessibility of quality DA data. We present an innovative data sharing and visualisation tool (DAVIT) and its perceived potential to improve DA insight and multi-agency collaborations. Study design: Qualitative exploratory study. Methods: DAVIT was developed by Surrey County Council (SCC) through a consultation and prioritisation process with multi-agencies interested in DA. Focus group discussions (FGDs) were conducted on Zoom with representatives of agencies responding to DA in Surrey area to obtain their views regarding the relevance, acceptability and the potential for implementing DAVIT into practice. Qualitative data analysis was guided by the updated Consolidation Framework of Implementation Research (CFIR). Results: Fifteen individuals representing seven agencies participated in 1-h long FGDs. Participants perceived DAVIT as well-designed, simple to use and adaptable to the local context but it needed improvements in data quality and comprehensiveness. Our findings suggest that DAVIT could enable intelligent planning and allocation of resources, delivery of targeted interventions and commissioning of DA service. Organisations' networks and connections, favourable data governance structure, policies, and regulations (outer settings);availability of resources, knowledge & information (inner settings);and individuals' capacity, competence and support from high-level leaders will all influence the implementation of DAVIT into practice. Conclusions: DAVIT is acceptable and if improved and successfully implemented into practice could improve DA services. Provision of minimal training to data officers in organisations will maximize the utility of DAVIT. A clear data governance structure and data sharing framework will help the implementation

Several operations, ranging from regular code updates to compiling, building, testing, and distribution to customers, are consolidated in continuous integration and delivery. Professionals seek additional information to complete the mission at hand during these tasks. Developers who devote a large amount of time and effort to finding such information may become distracted from their work. We will better understand the processes, procedures, and resources used to deliver a quality product on time by defining the types of information that software professionals seek. A deeper understanding of software practitioners' information needs has many advantages, including remaining competitive, growing knowledge of issues that can stymie a timely update, and creating a visualisation tool to assist practitioners in addressing their information needs. This is an extension of a previous work done by the authors. The authors conducted a multiple-case holistic study with six different companies (38 unique participants) to identify information needs in continuous integration and delivery. This study attempts to capture the importance, frequency, required effort (e.g. sequence of actions required to collect information), current approach to handling, and associated stakeholders with respect to identified needs. 27 information needs associated with different stakeholders (i.e. developers, testers, project managers, release team, and compliance authority) were identified. The identified needs were categorised as testing, code & commit, confidence, bug, and artefacts. Apart from identifying information needs, practitioners face several challenges in developing visualisation tools. Thus, 8 challenges that were faced by the practitioners to develop/maintain visualisation tools for the software team were identified. The recommendations from practitioners who are experts in developing, maintaining, and providing visualisation services to the software team were listed.

BackgroundScoping reviews and evidence maps are forms of evidence synthesis that aim to map the available literature on a topic and are well-suited to visual presentation of results. A range of data visualisation methods and interactive data visualisation tools exist that may make scoping reviews more useful to knowledge users. The aim of this study was to explore the use of data visualisation in a sample of recent scoping reviews and evidence maps on health topics, with a particular focus on interactive data *** MEDLINE ALL was searched for recent scoping reviews and evidence maps (June 2020-May 2021), and a sample of 300 papers that met basic selection criteria was taken. data were extracted on the aim of each review and the use of data visualisation, including types of data visualisation used, variables presented and the use of interactivity. Descriptive data analysis was undertaken of the 238 reviews that aimed to map *** the 238 scoping reviews or evidence maps in our analysis, around one-third (37.8%) included some form of data visualisation. Thirty-five different types of data visualisation were used across this sample, although most data visualisations identified were simple bar charts (standard, stacked or multi-set), pie charts or cross-tabulations (60.8%). Most data visualisations presented a single variable (64.4%) or two variables (26.1%). Almost a third of the reviews that used data visualisation did not use any colour (28.9%). Only two reviews presented interactive data visualisation, and few reported the software used to create *** visualisation is currently underused by scoping review authors. In particular, there is potential for much greater use of more innovative forms of data visualisation and interactive data visualisation. Where more innovative data visualisation is used, scoping reviews have made use of a wide range of different methods. Increased use of these more engaging visua

Information visualisation is transforming data into visual representations to convey information hidden within large datasets. Information visualisation in medicine is underdeveloped. In midwifery, the impact of different graphs on clinicians' and patients' understanding is not well understood. We investigate this gap and its potential consequences.

Anxiety disorders refer to mental health conditions characterized by excessive and persistent worry, fear or dread, which can interfere with daily life. These disorders are pervasive worldwide but can be treated with psychotherapy, medication, or both. Detecting them in time is key to avoid further severe development after an initial crisis. In this paper, we present a solution based on self-monitoring, using wearables, smartphones and Machine Learning (ML) to assess users' anxiety and panic levels. This is the first paper to embrace and present a visualisation system for mental health focused on patients. User studies support the solution's quality. With this system, patients are empowered to control their situation better, helping the medical staff to get more insight into when and where a crisis occurs.

Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to suggest that physiological experience can contribute to the comprehension of visualisation of scientific data, especially artistic approaches. Design/methodology/approach - A number of relevant case studies are used to establish the rationale. Findings - "Objective" or neutral data visualisation does not exist. Every visualisation process relies on human definitions or mediation. Based on this premise, interdisciplinary collaborators can use methods from design and art to actively design the usability of data visualisation together with their perceived aesthetic, ambiguous and imaginative dimensions in order to create a multi-layered human experience of data. Research limitations/implications - Physiological engagement in combination with rich, ambiguous experiences are no substitute for scientific data visualisation but an evocative medium for the public communication of science, such as at science centres or science museums. Practical implications - Clear support of interdisciplinary collaborations and systematic application of methods to create aesthetic experiences from scientific data. Social implications - Potentially novel, engaging and evocative sensual experiences with data visualisations around themes, such as climate change, sustainability and ecology. Originality/value - The paper suggests that systematically complementing methods from art and design in order to emotionalise intellectual experiences could be considered an unorthodox yet highly effective novel approach.
