A Study on the data compression technology-Based Intelligent data Acquisition (IDAQ) System for Structural Health Monitoring of Civil Structures

In this paper, a data compression technology-based intelligent data acquisition (IDAQ) system was developed for structural health monitoring of civil structures, and its validity was tested using random signals (El-Centro seismic waveform). The IDAQ system was structured to include a high-performance CPU with large dynamic memory for multi-input and output in a radio frequency (RF) manner. In addition, the embedded software technology (EST) has been applied to it to implement diverse logics needed in the process of acquiring, processing and transmitting data. In order to utilize IDAQ system for the structural health monitoring of civil structures, this study developed an artificial filter bank by which structural dynamic responses (acceleration) were efficiently acquired, and also optimized it on the random El-Centro seismic waveform. All techniques developed in this study have been embedded to our system. The data compression technology-based IDAQ system was proven valid in acquiring valid signals in a compressed size.

Limited by the channel bandwidth and information rate of the communication network of the electric energy information acquisition system, the energy data of the power system terminal lacks a suitable access method response to the above problems, this article combines the wide coverage characteristics and data compression technology achieved by LoRa (Long Range Radio, LoRa) spread spectrum communication, and proposes a new method of access communication based on LoRa spread spectrum and improved data compression coding for embedded applications. This technology can not only take into account the advantages of low design cost, strong coverage, anti-interference, etc. But also increases the virtual bandwidth of the channel, optimizes the comlink, and lay a solid foundation for high-frequency data collection and large-scale data transmission.

In response to the problems of large communication data volume, few communication methods and high communication costs in current electric energy information collection systems, the paper designs an electric energy information collection system based on uC/OS embedded real-time operating system. The system collects the data in the electricity meter downlink according to the parameters set by the host computer. After the data is compressed by the data collection terminal, it is transmitted to the main station through remote communication technology, which is convenient for the staff to monitor and manage the energy data. In this paper, LZO lossless compression technology and run-length coding technology are combined to improve the data compression scheme and use the RSA encryption algorithm to encrypt and calculate the data and use the touch-type fully intelligent combination interference generator PRM61245B to conduct EMC testing on the power information collection terminal. The experimental results show that the power system data acquisition system proposed in this paper can effectively improve the data transmission rate while ensuring data security, and can operate stably under the influence of external interference factors. Through a series of experimental tests, the practicability and effectiveness of the system are verified.

Under the compressive sensing theoretical framework a sparse signal can be acquired using few random measurements. This result implies that an analog signal can be compressed while it is being acquired. However, compressive sensing does not yet achieve the high compression rates obtained with standard data compression techniques. To improve the compression performance of compressive sensing, the measurements can be further encoded exploiting their statistical structure. This work explores the concept of encoding compressive sensing measurements using a low-complexity entropy encoder such as the Golomb-Rice encoder. It is found, through system-level numerical simulations, that a Golomb-Rice encoder can reduce the bitrate of compressive sensing by more than 1 bps. Balanced and unbalanced sensing matrices were used in the simulations. Balanced sensing matrices resulted in a slightly better average SNR and CR performance.

Today, it is commonly accepted that speedup and efficiency are not granted automatically when developing or porting software for High Performance Computing (HPC) platforms. The reasons are manifold and actively investigated in the community. Software monitors are essential for these studies as they provide the raw performance data to be analyzed. We propose an online monitoring workflow for event-based performance analysis that takes into account the significant changes in system architecture towards the development of exascale supercomputers. Critical properties are: communication across large numbers of processing elements, limited I/O capabilities, and a decreasing memory-per- core ratio. We present a hierarchical data management and steering workflow that directly couples the application, measurement, and analysis processes, thus eliminating the need for extensive communication and buffering. The workflow is closely integrated with the native system communication API to enable best communication across processing elements. The memory issue is addressed with a new lossy hierarchical data compression technique for in-memory storage, intended for small, fixed-size buffers. Further, we abandon secondary storage to avoid potential I/O challenges. We demonstrate the feasibility of our design with a prototype implementation that features services for data collection, analysis, and runtime compression. Our evaluation extrapolates results obtained with the NAS Parallel Benchmarks at up to 2,048 processes to an exascale workflow.

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are an important interface between physical and computational environments, where nodes clustering is a common technique to organize its traffic. Although current clustering protocols are focused on various kinds of dynamicity on the network, such as mobility or cluster-head rotations, few solutions consider the readings similarity management, which would provide benefits in terms of better use of compression techniques and reactive detection of anomalous events. This paper proposes a dynamic clustering protocol, called DDFC, that manages spatial similarity between nodes readings. Its operation is based on the biological principles of fireflies to ensure distributed synchronization of the cluster's similar readings aggregations, differentiating thus from the classic use of fireflies. Simulations show that DDFC is capable of maintaining the cluster's readings aggregation synchronized, hence clustering nodes dynamically according to their similar readings.

The problem of managing multidimensional stream cubes (i.e., data cubes originated from data streams) over Computational Grids still plays a critical role in database and data Warehousing research, since it covers a wide family of real-life application scenarios. Despite recent technological advancements, high dimensionality and massive size are still the most significant challenges to be addressed. In this respect, the usage of data compression techniques and algorithms is a well-suited and well-understood solution to deal with managing stream cubes over Grids. Inspired by these motivations, in this paper we provide two state-of-the-art techniques, and discuss open issues and future research directions in this scientific area.

Multi-functional electronic Inspection Lock with Solar rechargeable characteristic is reader unlocked which use electronic key to contact lock directly.
