JT-60 data processing system (DPS) possesses three-level hierarchy. At the top level of hierarchy is JT-60 inter-shot processor (MSP-ISP), which is a mainframe computer, provides communication with the JT-60 supervisory control system and supervises the internal communication inside the DPS. The middle level of hierarchy has minicomputers and the bottom level of hierarchy has individual diagnostic subsystems, which consist of the CAMAC and VME modules. To meet the demand for advanced diagnostics, the DPS has been progressed in stages from a three-level hierarchy system, which was dependent on the processing power of the MSP-ISP, to a two-level hierarchy system, which is decentralized data processing system (New-DPS) by utilizing the UNIX-based workstations and network technology. At present, replacing the MSP-ISP with a UNIX-based workstation is under way as a final phase in building the New-DPS project. This replacement will be accomplished by October 2005. In addition, remote experiment in JT-60 is considered to be an important issue in extension of the collaborative research among the nuclear fusion community. Technical environments for this task have been developed. The participant from a remote site can set discharge parameters with assistance of the dedicated machine operating status-information tools. The communication, ocean and meteorological satelite (COMS) was launched in 26 June 2010. The geostationary ocean color imager (GOCI), one of the three payloads of COMS, will be examined with its data processing system during in-orbit test (IOT). The GOCI data processing system (GDPS) has been verified in code level and function level and system level in each software development phase. GDPS will check the accuracy and performance of the processing by real-time dataprocessing for the generation of reliable ocean color remote sensing data during IOT. By analysis the result, the deeply verification and modification of dataprocessing algorithm and the configuration will be needed. GDPS will be released to public user as basic dataprocessing software of GOCI/COMS.

Loropetalum chinense var. rubrum accessions in China have not been adequately characterized for their morphological traits. Such characterization would be helpful in the development of improved cultivars and in cultivar classification. In this study, the morphological traits of 23 accessions were evaluated in spring, summer, and autumn to determine their phenotypic diversity. Cluster analysis with average distance was performed for the main traits of leaf and flower using data processing system software. The morphological investigation indicated that the number of flowering accessions and the flower number of L. chinense var. rubrum in spring were more than those in autumn. Only one accession (no. 13) yielded several flowers in summer. Some accessions had the same or similar color of leaf or flower in spring and autumn. Two accessions had the same flower color in spring and autumn, whereas others showed slightly different colors in spring and autumn. The 23 entries were grouped into four clusters in spring and five clusters in autumn based on multivariate analysis of nine classification variables. Each cluster had some specific characteristics of its own. Generally, the cluster formed first because of the similarity in leaf color. The accessions with similar flower color formed subclusters within a cluster. These accessions are an important resource for the establishment of a core collection of L. chinense var. rubrum in the world. Several accessions with good qualities were selected and should be further tested for horticultural merit.

Real time processor, RTP, is a basic subsystem in the JT-60 data processing system and plays an important role in JT-60 feedback control utilizing various diagnostic signals. An original mini-computer system was replaced in 1994 with a workstation. It has 2 CPU's with a real-time parallel UNIX. During the experiment, one CPU communicates with the main computer synchronized with the experimental sequence, and the other executes a real-time process with 1 ms clock. RTP has been upgraded to a compatible RISC workstation with a faster A/D converter in 1997 in response to increased requests of handling the increased signals in more complicated manners. After this upgrade, an elapsed time is reduced to similar to 75% and an I/O time is now dominant. To reduce a CAMAC access time, we try to use a reflective memory for the data transfer. Now RTP handles six kinds of signals to control an electron density, a neutron emission, an electron density and a radiation in the divertor region, and a neutral pressure. The data acquisition system described here is designed for biomedical research and permits the recording of up to eight biological signals simultaneously. A personal computer using the Windows 95 operating system is employed for data monitoring, dataprocessing and analysis during experiments. The system has been designed for reliability, economy, flexibility and ease of handling, with the aim of achieving universal application. To avoid interface incompatibility, problems with transfer protocols and the data formats of commercially available products, analog signals are used for further processing. The individual input channels are electrically isolated from one another and the PC to avoid ground loops, and for reasons of safety. An isolated voltage supply is available for pre-amplifiers and bridges. A bandwidth of 0-5 kHz and the maximum sampling rate of 12.5 kHz suffice to pick up higher frequency signals such as EMG and ENG. The modular software and hardware concepts permit the use of almost any desktop or laptop PC as a central processing unit. The PC handles documentation, data acquisition, data analysis and the preparation of publications. If needed, further analytical functions can be added in modular form. Finally, the option of saving data in the ASCII format permits processing of results with such standard software packages as Excel, Access, Matlab and Origin.

In order to improve the performance of digital protective relay, a data acquisition and processingsystem based on FPGA is designed in VHDL and implemented in this paper. They are foul parts in system: ADC control, 32-point FFT module, frequency counter and power meter. It cans control ADC and multiplexer to sample and convert 16-channel voltage and current signal of power system, process the discrete data with FFT algorithms in real time, measure the system frequency and power. So it can supply the processed data for protective relays and measurement All parts can be implemented in an Altera ACEX EP1k100. Using this system, the protective relays will achieve the good characteristic: high reliability and performance, multi-function, small size and cheap cost.
