A power regulation strategy for heat pipe cooled reactors based on deep learning and hybrid data-driven optimization algorithm

Heat pipe cooled reactors are ideal for use in remote or isolated locations as dependable, small-scale power sources, thanks to their excellent design characteristics. To tackle real-time changes in power demand within a dynamic environment, this research proposes a decision-making strategy for regulating the power of heat pipe cooled reactors. The strategy is founded on a hybrid data-driven optimization algorithm and deep learning, enabling the attainment of safe and efficient control of heat pipe cooled reactors under specified power requirements. Initially, a power forecast model founded on artificial neural networks for heat pipe cooled reactors is established. Then, an appraisal standard for power regulation arrangements, combining reactor safety and operational effectiveness, is developed based on the utility theory. Finally, this study introduces a hybrid datadriven optimization algorithm that efficiently identifies the power regulation scheme with the greatest utility for given power demands. The proposed technique's effectiveness was demonstrated by selecting the power regulation process of the MegaPower heat pipe cooled reactor as an example. The results indicate that the strategy can make steady, accurate, and near-optimal power regulation decisions for any power demand within 20 s.

Dabigatran overload in acute kidney injury: haemodialysis or idarucizumab? A case report and proposal for a decisional algorithm

Dabigatran overload has been reported in acute kidney injury (AKI), leading to occasional major bleeding. Haemodialysis (HD) was the method used for reversing dabigatran anticoagulant effects before the approval of idarucizumab, which is now indicated for dabigatran reversal in major bleeding or surgical emergencies. There have been reports of rebound of dabigatran levels following idarucizumab administration in AKI, requiring HD to achieve effective dabigatran clearance. However, a decisional algorithm to individualize treatments for dabigatran overload seems lacking. We present a case of dabigatran accumulation in obstructive AKI with minor bleeding that was successfully treated with HD and tranexamic acid without using idarucizumab, and propose a decision-making algorithm including different pathways in the management of suspected dabigatran overload in AKI.

Exploring the territorial unevenness of one-person households and contextual factors of vulnerability: Evidence from the Italian context

New family structures have emerged in Italy in recent decades, with a trend towards smaller nuclear families due to demographic, social and economic changes. An aging population, marital disruptions, declining fertility, and later marriages have contributed to this trend. It is important to understand the changing needs of families, especially the vulnerable, from both an economic and social perspective. Vulnerability is often related to economic factors, but people living alone are often at risk. The goal of this study is to classify Italian municipalities based on the prevailing characteristics of their one-person households, identifying areas of greater or lesser fragility. This classification constitutes a tool to plan people-based policies. Starting from the 2020 Italian Permanent Population and Housing Census data, a decision algorithm was used to identify municipalities according to the different types of their one-person households and to study their geographical distribution throughout the country. Our results show there is an unexpected heterogeneity that goes far beyond the classical North-South divide, emphasizing the urgency of approaching the study of economic and social processes at the local level.

Tradeoff Relation between Mutual Information and Error Probability in Data Classification Problem

A data classification model in which the average mutual information between source objects and made decisions is a function of the error probability is investigated. Optimization of the model consists in finding a tradeoff "mutual information-error probability" (MIEP) relation between the minimal average mutual information and the error probability, which is analogous to the well-known rate distortion function for source coding with a given fidelity in the case of a noisy observation channel. A lower bound for the MIEP relation is constructed, which provides a lower bound for the classification error probability on a given set of objects for any fixed value of the average mutual information. The MIEP relation and its lower bound are generalized to ensembles of sources. The obtained bounds are useful for estimating the error probability redundancy for decision algorithms with given sets of discriminant functions.

BackgroundRegardless of the available antifungals, intraabdominal candidiasis (IAC) mortality continues to be high and represents a challenge for *** bodyThis opinion paper discusses alternative antifungal options for treating IAC. This clinical entity should be addressed separately from candidemia due to the peculiarity of the required penetration of antifungals into the peritoneal cavity. Intraabdominal concentrations may be further restricted in critically ill patients where pathophysiological facts alter normal drug distribution. Echinocandins are recommended as first-line treatment in guidelines for invasive candidiasis. However, considering published data, our pharmacodynamic analysis suggests the required increase of doses, postulated by some authors, to attain adequate pharmacokinetic (PK) levels in peritoneal fluid. Given the limited evidence in the literature on PK/PD-based treatments of IAC, an algorithm is proposed to guide antifungal treatment. Liposomal amphotericin B is advocated as first-line therapy in patients with sepsis/septic shock presenting candidemia or endophthalmitis, or with prior exposure to echinocandins and/or fluconazole, or with infections by Candida glabrata. Other situations and alternatives, such as new compounds or combination therapy, are also *** is a critical need for more robust clinical trials, studies examining patient heterogeneity and surveillance of antifungal resistance to enhance patient care and optimise treatment outcomes. Such evidence will help refine the existing guidelines and contribute to a more personalised and effective approach to treating this serious medical condition. Meanwhile, it is suggested to broaden the consideration of other options, such as liposomal amphotericin B, as first-line treatment until the results of the fungogram are available and antifungal stewardship could be implemented to prevent the development of resistance.

decision-making is the creative process of identifying alternatives and choosing among them a satisfactory solution based on the values and preferences of the decision maker (LPR). This person at present can be directly to the man himself, and, - directly computer. And the methods of decision-making - can be both individual and group. An important factor of difficulties in making decisions is that very often the target function is not set, or its description is a difficult task. There are situations when the researcher himself does not clearly know what exactly he wants to achieve as a result of research, what result to get. It is obvious that in the conditions of computer decision-making, such a process must be formalized on the basis of a deep logical analysis of the probable outcomes of the problem to be solved. This work directly intersects with research in the field (Big Data)". In the literal sense of the term Big Data, means large in volume (in terabytes, petabytes and etc.,) data. A more precise definition of the term could be "complex data". The present work is devoted to the search for methods of decision - making formalization of complex data on the basis of database structuring. Model logical database structures were based on the concepts introduced in the text and defined by the author.

A Topological Approach to Secure Message Dissemination in Vehicular Networks

Secure message dissemination is an important issue in vehicular networks, especially considering the vulnerability of vehicle-to-vehicle message dissemination to malicious attacks. Traditional security mechanisms, largely based on message encryption and key management, can only guarantee secure message exchanges between a known source and destination pairs. In vehicular networks, however, every vehicle may learn its surrounding environment and contributes as a source, while in the meantime, acting as a destination or a relay of information from other vehicles, and message exchanges often occur between "stranger" vehicles. This makes secure message dissemination against malicious tampering much more intricate. For secure message dissemination in vehicular networks against insider attackers, who may tamper the content of the disseminated messages, ensuring the consistency and integrity of the transmitted messages becomes a major concern which the traditional message encryption and key management-based approaches fall short to provide. However, it is challenging for a vehicle to distinguish which message is true when the messages received from multiple nearby vehicles are conflicting. In this paper, by incorporating the underlying network topology information, we propose an optimal decision algorithm that is able to maximize the chance of making a correct decision on the message content, assuming the prior knowledge of the percentage of malicious vehicles in the network. Furthermore, a novel heuristic decision algorithm is proposed that can make decisions without the aforementioned knowledge of the percentage of malicious vehicles. The simulations are conducted to compare the security performance achieved by our proposed decision algorithms with that achieved by the existing ones that do not consider or only partially consider the topological information to verify the effectiveness of the algorithms. Purpose Cancer patients require implantation of venous access devices to meet their personalized therapeutic needs, which are often complex due to the nature of the medication and the disease status. Therefore, it is essential to have standardized protocols that guarantee the best results in health and patient safety. Methods To learn about the availability of protocols and aspects related to safety in clinical practice and to detect possible opportunities for improvement, a survey has been conducted in various Spanish hospitals, in addition to a review of the evidence regarding the various devices available and complications associated with the administration of chemotherapy. Results As a result of both analyses, the Foundation for Excellence and Quality in Oncology (ECO), the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM), and the Spanish Society of Oncology Nursing (SEEO) have developed a catheter selection algorithm based on patient characteristics and treatment to facilitate the clinical decision-making process, as well as some recommendations aimed at ensuring patient safety and rational use of available resources. Conclusions In conclusion, both the venous access catheter selection algorithm and the proposed recommendations aim to respond to the needs revealed in clinical practice and to become an integrable tool in electronic prescription systems to offer homogeneous criteria for action in cancer patients that require venous access, optimizing the use of available health resources with the highest safety and quality of life for the patient.
