This paper presents a study to analyze software defect detection effectiveness at different systems development test phases of the products developed in REHIS (Radar, Electronic Warfare, and Intelligence Systems) Division of ASELSAN Inc., a CMMI v1.3 Level 3 Organization, and recommends a practical guidance to process improvement efforts at CMMI Level 3 organizations for systems development. In this study "Defect Escape Ratio" measure that had already been defined at ASELSAN REHIS Division for software development process effectiveness is used to identify software items for further analysis. "Defect Detection Effectiveness" measure is introduced to improve the effectiveness analysis of the systems development verification and validation activities. A pilot study is performed for the analysis and gathered results are evaluated for guidance in the further process improvement efforts.

In the last years, technological innovations and changing economic and regulatory environments have resulted in a great interest for Distributed Generation (DG). DG concept covers local power generation at distribution level by using renewable or non-conventional generators. Distributed Energy Resources (DER) range from CHP (combined heat and power) systems based on Stirling engines, fuel cells and microturbines, to renewables like solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, wind energy conversion systems (WECS) and small scale hydroelectric generation. The use of biofuels and application of various storage technologies are also considered part of DG. In this paper, the state of the art of DG technologies and strategies - focusing on solar PV, wind and fuel cells - are analysed, benefits and drawbacks are discussed, future R&D prospects are presented.

This paper presents a strategic overview for the planning and implementation of monitoring programs to evaluate and analyze impacts of distributed energy resources (DER) on electric distribution systems. The paper presents technical considerations for determining measurement strategies to evaluate specific operational impacts, to inform analytic study of distribution circuits, and to help anticipate future needs driven by increasing penetration levels of DER. A systematic selection of data is recommended, with an eye toward future growth of data volumes and opportunities to interface with multiple models and applications.

This paper presents an interconnection device between DNO and small scale DERs of customers. It can link DERs more economically and improve the power quality for customers owing to prevent power failure by independent operation in case of power failure in DNO network and trade the electricity with DNO. In addition it can send information on the condition of the customer electricity network. So DNO can operate their distribution network efficiently. For the customer it can connect DERs efficiently and reduce installation spaces. In this device each power converter of DER connected to DC link and one bidirectional inverter wired to DC link. A static transfer switch (STS) was installed so that customers can prevent power failure by islanding operation during the DNO network failure. An intelligent electronic device (IED) was installed so that power and information can be exchanged with DNO or nearby customers and the protection control can be done to satisfy all the current standards for DERs.

Single phase distributed energy resources (DERs) can cause voltage rise along distribution feeder and power imbalance among the phases. Usually transformer tap setting are used to mitigate voltage drop along feeders. However this can aggravate the voltage rise problem when DERs are connected. Moreover if the power generation in a phase is more than its load demand, the excess power in that phase will be fed back to the transmission network. In this paper, a unified power quality compensator (UPQC) has been utilized to alleviate the voltage quality excess power circulation problems. Through analysis and simulation results, the mode of operation of UPQC is highlighted. The proposals are validated through extensive digital computer simulation studies using PSCAD and MATLAB.

Microsoft's ET (extension table) approach makes the data model arbitrarily extensible while retaining the cost benefits of using a shared database. But it adds complexity for database querying and updating. We improve it and propose CET (Clustering Extension Table). There are several tables in CET, including BT (Basic Table), CT (Clustering Table), CMT (Metadata Table for CT), ET (Extension Table) and EMT (Metadata Table for ET). The similarity of tenants is adopted to cluster them into different groups. In the group, some data in the basic table and extension table is transformed and consolidated together into the CT (Clustering Table). In one group, CT extracts the common similarity of the tenants in the group to avoid the complexity of using ET. Then SER (Schema Efficiency Ratio) and DER (Data Efficiency Ratio) are described to control tenants' adscription into their groups. Experiments are also conducted to show the improvement of ET.

Flexibility resources on the demand side are anticipated to become a valuable asset for balancing renewable energy fluctuation as well as for reducing investment needs in distribution grids. To harvest this flexibility for distribution grids, flexibility services need to be defined that can be integrated with distribution grid operation and that provide a benefit that can be traded off against other grid investments. Two key challenges are here that the identification of useful services is still ongoing and that the transaction cost for the individually small contributions from the demand side could be prohibitive. This paper introduces a flexibility clearinghouse (FLECH) concept and isolates FLECH key functionality: to facilitate flexibility services in distribution grids by streamlining the relevant business interactions while keeping technical specifications open.

We present a vision-based method for signer diarization - the task of automatically determining "who signed when?" in a video. This task has similar motivations and applications as speaker diarization but has received little attention in the literature. In this paper, we motivate the problem and propose a method for solving it. The method is based on the hypothesis that signers make more movements than their interlocutors. Experiments on four videos (a total of 1.4 hours and each consisting of two signers) show the applicability of the method. The best diarization error rate (DER) obtained is 0.16.

In this paper, by choosing the islanded structure for DER, the problem of voltage and frequency control in micro grids is discussed. The proposed control scheme has been used as a feed forward compensation strategy to reduce the nonlinear effects and to compensate for the load dynamics. Thus, the mathematical islanded model of DER system has been introduced and then, the voltage and frequency controllers have been designed to achieve fast and stable response and also zero steady state error. The operation of system in different load conditions is checked by Matlab-Simulink software. The simulation results show the robust operation of closed loop system composed with designed controller.

An economic evaluation of a network of distributed energy resources (DERs) forming an autonomous power delivery system in an Indian scenario has been made. The mathematical analysis is based on the application of a modified differential evolution (MDE) algorithm. The total annual costs for the power delivery networks involving different types of consumers, organized into a microgrid and sharing power from a combination of DERs, battery have been evaluated. The DERs studied in this work are solar module (SPS), wind-turbine (WT) and biomass gassifier units (BMGU). To meet the consumption, the DERs are supported by a battery electrical storage system (BESS) and the provision to purchase/sale of power from/ to an utility connected to the microgrid. Two different sets of hybrid DERs namely WT-BMGU and SPS-BMGU are compared for the economic performance through the evaluation of the corresponding optimal power operation conditions. The results using a combination of SPS and BMGU as DERs are found to be more cost competitive. A reduction of 5.6 % in the annual cost is obtained using solar photovoltaic and biomass gassifier unit to that using wind-turbine and biomass gassifier unit for the same load demand in case of microgrid operation.
