In the mobile telecommunication network, the expansion in Internet traffic will cause the demand for IP addresses. Further WiBro will also stimulate the interworking for IP addresses. In fact, many working groups are designing an adaptation mechanism between WiBro and IPv6/MIPv6. Accordingly, from the viewpoint of security, interworking between 802.16e and MIPv6 is essential. Large electrolytic capacitors are usually employed in single-phase grid-connected voltage source inverters (VSI) of distributed energy resources (DER). They are bulky and have a relatively short life time what motivates their replacement by smaller film type capacitors. Resulting issues such as the increased dc bus voltage ripple and smaller inertia to active power variations are discussed in this paper. The former tends to increase the low order harmonics of the injected current, what becomes an even more challenging matter when the bandwidth of the voltage loop is increased to compensate for the latter. A solution based on a voltage ripple estimator is presented and is verified by means of simulation results.

Distributed energy resources (DERs) provide many benefits for the electricity users and utilities. However, the electricity distribution system traditionally was not designed to accommodate active power generation and storage at the distribution level. The microgrid provides an effective approach to integrating many small-scale distributed energy resources into the bulk electric grid This paper presents an agent-based control framework for distributed energy resources microgrids. The features of agent technology are first discussed An agent-based control framework for DER microgrids is then presented To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed agent-based control framework, simulation studies have been performed on a dc distributed energy system that can be used in a microgrid as a modular power generation unit. Simulation results clearly indicate that the agent-based control framework is effective to coordinate the various distributed energy resources and manage the power and voltage profiles.

This paper presents a method for calculating the reliability of distribution systems with distributed energy resources (DER). The impact of intentional islanding of the DER units on the reliability is studied in detail as well as the impact of different switching devices. A Monte-Carlo-based computer program has been developed to simulate the performance of different typical distribution feeders. Details of the Monte-Carlo simulation and selected simulation results are given in the paper. The presence of circuit breakers and the reliability of the DER unit have a large influence on the supply reliability. Challenges in operating the power system and electricity markets arise from the ongoing industry restructuring and deregulation efforts as well as from opportunities presented by new technologies. In response to an increased presence of distributed energy resources (DER) throughout the system, the power system will required new technologies and operating strategies to maintain system reliability and allow the distributed resources to participate fully in competitive markets. This presentation discusses the use of the proposed closed loop price signal for FACTS devices and DER that will aid in allowing the transmission and distribution system to actively support the integration of distributed resources into the short term competitive electricity markets. Simulation results demonstrate the participation of these devices in electricity markets
