Objectives This study analyzed the long-term survival of dialysis patients undergoing AVR using the Japanese National Clinical Database with additional survival data. Methods De-novo AVR for dialysis-dependent patients between 2010 and 2012 who were registered in the Japan Cardiovascular Surgery Database were included. Concomitant aortic surgery and transcatheter aortic valve replacement were excluded. An additional questionnaire was sent to each hospital regarding the underlying kidney disease, the duration of dialysis initiation to the surgery, and clinical outcomes. The Kaplan-Meier survival curve was descriptively shown for all cohorts and each renal pathology. Furthermore, we compared the incidence of bioprosthetic valve failure in patients who were < 65 years old (group Y) and >= 65 years old (group O). Results Of these 1529 patients, diabetic nephropathy was 517, chronic glomerulonephritis was 437, and renal sclerosis was 210, regarding renal pathology. 1, 3, and 5-year survival in each pathology was 78.4%, 58.6%, 45.9% in diabetic nephritis, 78.8%, 68.4%, 58.2% in chronic glomerulonephritis, 79.0%, 67.8%, 52.1% in renal sclerosis, and 74.4%, 62.6%, 49.2% in others. Active infectious endocarditis was more prevalent in group Y (O 2.7% vs. Y 9.6%). The incidence of bioprosthetic valve failure requiring re-hospitalization was too small to analyze. 1, 3, and 5-year survival was 76.0%, 63.4%, 49.2% in group O and 74.3%, 64.2%, and 47.7% in group Y. Conclusions Long-term survival of AVR for dialysis-dependent was higher in patients with chronic glomerulonephritis and lower in patients with diabetic nephritis than in other pathologies.

Attrition Rates in HIV Viral Load Monitoring and Factors Associated With Overdue Testing Among Children Within South Africa's Antiretroviral Treatment Program: Retrospective descriptive analysis

Background: Numerous studies in South Africa have reported low HIV viral load (VL) suppression and high attrition rateswithin the pediatric HIV treatment program. Objective: Using routine laboratory data, we evaluated HIV VL monitoring, including mobility and overdue VL (OVL) testing,within 5 priority districts in South Africa. Methods: We performed a retrospective descriptive analysis of National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS) data for childrenand adolescents aged 1-15 years having undergone HIV VL testing between May 1, 2019, and April 30, 2020, from 152 facilitieswithin the City of Johannesburg, City of Tshwane, eThekwini, uMgungundlovu, and Zululand. HIV VL test-level data werededuplicated to patient-level data using the NHLS CDW (Corporate Data Warehouse) probabilistic record-linking algorithm andthen further manually deduplicated. An OVL was defined as no subsequent VL determined within 18 months of the last *** associated with the last VL test, including age, sex, VL findings, district type, and facility type, are described. Amultivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to identify variables associated with an OVL test. Results: Among 21,338 children and adolescents aged 1-15 years who had an HIV VL test, 72.70% (n=15,512) had a follow-upVL test within 18 months. Furthermore, 13.33% (n=2194) of them were followed up at a different facility, of whom 3.79%(n=624) were in a different district and 1.71% (n=281) were in a different province. Among patients with a VL of >= 1000 RNAcopies/mL of plasma, the median time to subsequent testing was 6 (IQR 4-10) months. The younger the age of the patient, thegreater the proportion with an OVL, ranging from a peak of 52% among 1-year-olds to a trough of 21% among 14-year-olds. Onmultivariate analysis, 2 consecutive HIV VL findings of >= 1000 RNA copies/mL of plasma were associated with an increasedadjusted odds ratio (AOR) of having an OVL (AOR 2.07, 95% CI 1.71-2.51). Public transport (PT) drivers play a vital role in our communities. They are the backbone of the urban transportation system in most cities worldwide. Many issues faced by PT drivers are yet to be explored in the context of developing countries. Studies in developed countries are concentrated on drivers' stress and emotional wellbeing. The current research focuses on understanding the challenges and barriers faced by PT drivers in urban India. The study is based on a questionnaire survey in Kota City, Rajasthan. A total of 289 predominantly male drivers participated and completed the survey. The study uses descriptive analysis to explore the challenges faced by the drivers. Further research can build upon these descriptive findings to explore the relationships between variables, investigate potential solutions to enhance PT drivers' well-being and satisfaction and propose targeted solutions to address the identified challenges. By analysing and addressing the needs of PT professionals, transport planners can foster a more inclusive and efficient urban mobility framework, enhancing the overall quality of life for residents and commuters in the city.

Supporting social competence in early childhood is associated with the development of friendships, positive outcomes across developmental domains, and preventing challenges in later life. However, within social skills interventions to improve social competence, identifying and selecting target social skills that are likely to be functional within a child's environment represent a complex challenge. In the current research, descriptive analysis was employed within the preschool context, to identify the common, functional social skills that typically developing children engage in, within naturally occurring social exchanges. Environmental variables possibly correlated with social behavior within the preschool context were analyzed. An analysis of the social antecedents and consequences for social behavior was also conducted. Specific social behaviors that are likely to be functional and developmentally appropriate within the preschool context were identified. Analyses of factors are discussed in terms of recommendations for developing social skills interventions for early educational settings.

Using descriptive analysis to Find Patterns and Trends: A Case of Car Accidents in Washington D.C.

The descriptive analysis could be used to find the trends and patterns in historical data. In this article, descriptive analysis has been used to describe the car accidents in Washington, D.C., between 2009 and 2020. The dataset was downloaded from the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), the department responsible for car accidents in Washington, D.C. Multiple analytics and statistical models have been applied to find the relationships between different variables and the patterns and trends among the data, such as correlation analysis, confidence interval, One-Way-ANOVA, decision tree, and visualizations. The article aims to find the common reasons for accidents and help DDOT find ways to reduce and eliminate accidents in the area. The statistical and analytical tools examine multiple features to find the patterns and trends among the datasets. Four main findings were found after analyzing the data. First, the main reason for most crashes is drunken people, either drivers or pedestrians. The second finding is that the top reason which causes deadly accidents is speed. Also, we have found that most of the accidents are not dangerous. In addition, we found the top ten streets that contain the highest accident number, and we found that they are located on the north side of the town.

A descriptive analysis of the contents of Care Response, an international data set of patient-reported outcomes for chiropractic patients

BackgroundDatabases have become an important tool in understanding trends and correlations in health care by collecting demographic and clinical information. analysis of data collected from large cohorts of patients can have the potential to generate insights into factors identifying treatments and the characteristics of subgroups of patients who respond to certain types of care. The Care Response (CR) database was designed to capture patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) for chiropractic patients internationally. Although several papers have been published analysing some of the data, its contents have not yet been comprehensively documented. The primary aim of this study was to describe the information in the CR database. The secondary aim was to determine whether there was suitable information available to better understand subgroups of chiropractic patients and responsiveness to care. This would be achieved by enabling correlations among patient demographics, diagnoses, and therapeutic interventions with machine learning *** in all available fields were requested with no date restriction. Data were collected on 12 April 2022. The output was manually scanned for scope and completeness. Tables were created with categories of information. descriptive statistics were *** CR database collects information from patients at the first clinical visit, 14, 30, and 90 days subsequently. There were 32,468 patient responses;3210 patients completed all fields through the 90 day follow up period. 45% of respondents were male;54% were female;the average age was 49. There was little demographic information, and no information on diagnoses or therapeutic interventions. Sensory descriptive analysis of hard ciders from the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic United States

Although alcoholic or "hard" cider is a beverage of growing popularity throughout the Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic United States (US), the industry lacks a consistent language for describing the sensory quality of its products. The main objective of this research was to explore the sensory attributes that can be used to describe a large representative sample (N = 42 samples) of ciders from Virginia, Vermont, and New York, using classical descriptive analysis (DA). The secondary objective of the research was to determine if cider samples' sensory attributes differ based on extrinsic factors, such as style, packaging, and apple varieties. The study was conducted using a standard DA: 8 panelists were trained for 13 h to develop a lexicon of aroma, taste, and mouthfeel descriptors for 42 cider samples (15 single varietal ciders, 27 blended ciders). Then, subjects evaluated each cider in duplicate for all descriptive attributes in standard sensory-evaluation conditions. Results were analyzed to determine overall differences among the individual cider samples, geographic origins, cider styles, and packaging formats, as well as significant differences across individual attributes. Herein, we report on 29 attributes that can be used to discriminate cider samples, as well as a subset of attributes which differentiate ciders based on extrinsic product variables. These results provide a framework for describing ciders from the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions of the US, which may be further generalizable to other North American ciders. As well, these results highlight the potential for more descriptive, sensory-based style guidelines may inspire future research related to cider production practices and terroir.

Process mining is growing to a billion-dollar market, focusing on dedicated techniques for improving existing business processes. With the increasing popularity and application of process mining, most scholars have focused on technical research while the organizational and people-related aspects remain under-investigated. To partly fill the gap, this paper explores current job market demands in process mining by means of an empirical and analytical study of vacancies on LinkedIn platform. Our dataset uncovers a wide variety of vacancies from 47 countries, including organizations of different sizes and 12 sectors. The vacancies are issued by end-user companies, vendors or consultancy firms and include a combination of technical or business orientation. Given this wide variety among process mining vacancies, future research can also benefit from better complying with companies' needs.

Impact of Depression Onset and Treatment on the Trend of Annual Medical Costs in Japan: An Exploratory, descriptive analysis of Employer-Based Health Insurance Claims Data (Nov, 10.1007/s12325021-01963-9, 2021)

INTRODUCTION: We aimed to clarify medical expenses in Japanese individuals before and after major depressive disorder (MDD) diagnosis, and to determine whether MDD treatment also reduces medical costs for comorbid physical conditions. METHODS: This was an exploratory, descriptive, retrospective analysis of insurance claims data from JMDC Inc. Cohort A included individuals aged 18-64 years between January 2015 and December 2019. Cohorts B and C included Cohort A individuals with diabetes/hypertension ('chronic disease'), and sleep/anxiety disorders ('high depression risk'), respectively. Individuals in Cohorts A-C with an MDD diagnosis were analyzed by year of MDD onset (Cohorts A-CMDD2015-2019). Diagnoses and median medical costs were derived from International Classification of Diseases 10 codes. RESULTS: Total medical and non-neuropsychiatric drug costs in MDD onset years were 170,390-182,120 and 8480-9586 yen higher, respectively, for Cohorts AMDD2015-2019 than for Cohort A. In Cohort AMDD2019, total medical and non-neuropsychiatric drug costs increased incrementally from 2015 to 2019 (total changes: + 165,130 and + 7365 yen, respectively), to a greater degree than in Cohort A (+ 10,510 and + 1246 yen, respectively). Neuropsychiatric drug costs increased in the year of MDD onset only and decreased thereafter. After MDD onset, decreases in total medical and non-neuropsychiatric drug costs were observed (Cohorts AMDD2015-2019). Non-neuropsychiatric drug costs also decreased after MDD onset in the chronic disease groups (Cohorts CMDD2015-2019), but not in patients with MDD recurrence. CONCLUSION: Treating MDD reduces medical costs for comorbid physical conditions and may be a useful strategy for improving healthcare efficiency in Japan.

On the Methodological Aspects of the Clinical Trials for COVID-19 Conducted in the First Year of the Pandemic: A descriptive analysis

In 2020, the whole planet was plagued by the extremely deadly COVID-19 pandemic. More than 83 million people had been infected with COVID-19 while more than 1.9 million people around the planet had died from this virus in the first year of the pandemic. From the first moment, the medical community started working to deal with this pandemic. For this reason, many clinical trials have been and continue to be conducted to find a safe and efficient cure for the virus. In this paper, we review the 96 clinical trials, registered in the *** database, that had been completed by the end of the first year of the pandemic. Although the clinical trials contained significant heterogeneity in the main methodological features (enrollment, duration, allocation, intervention model, and masking) they seemed to be conducted based on an appropriate methodological basis.
