Subaru Telescope is developing a second-generation Observation Control System (OCS) that specifically addresses some of the deficiencies of the current Subaru OCS. One area of concern is better extensibility: the current system uses a custom language for implementing commands with a complex macro processing subsystem written in C. It is laborious to improve the language and awkward for scientists to extend and use standard programming techniques. Our Generation 2 OCS provides a lightweight, object-oriented task framework based on the Command design pattern. The framework provides a base task class that abstracts services for processing status and other common infrastructure activities. Upon this are built and provided a set of "atomic" tasks for telescope and instrument commands. A set of "container" tasks based on common sequential and concurrent command processing paradigms is also included. Since all tasks share the same exact interface, it is straightforward to build up compound tasks by plugging simple tasks into container tasks and container tasks into other containers, and so forth. In this way various advanced astronomical workflows can be readily created, with well controlled behaviors. In addition, since tasks are written in Python, it is easy for astronomers to subclass and extend the standard observatory tasks with their own custom extensions and behaviors, in a high-level, full-featured programming language. In this talk we will provide an overview of the task framework design and present preliminary results on the use of the framework during two separate engineering runs.

Code review is a very important means to ensure the quality of code in practice. It has been widely used in industry since it was proposed. Nowadays code review is still mainly done by manual work in industry. However, increasing scale of the software challenges manual reviewing. So automating the code review process is highly desired. design patterns are a set of summaries of code design experiences that are widely used repeatedly, and well classified. Programmers need to correctly implement code based on design patterns. To ensure that the code is implemented as expected, this paper proposes an approach to automatically review code in the view of specified design patterns. Firstly, we identify the design patterns that are specified in the design models. Second, we construct a set of review rules by extracting design constraints from identified design patterns. Last, the code is checked against the generated review rules, and inconsistencies are reported as result. A supporting tool was developed, and two experiments were conducted to demonstrate the applicability of our approach.

Tools for design pattern detection (DPD) can ease program comprehension, helping programmers understand the design and intention of certai n parts of a system's implementation. Many tools have been proposed in the past. However, the many different output formats used by the tools make it difficult to compare their results and to improve their accuracy and performance through data fusion. In addition, all the output formats have been shown to have several limitations in both their forms and contents. Consequently, we develop DPDX, a rich common exchange format for DPD tools, to overcome previous limitations. DPDX provides the basis for an open federation of tools that perform comparison, fusion, visualisation, and or validation of DPD results.

design pattern is widely used in the field of object oriented development. Mining design pattern examples in the source code is helpful to deepen the understanding of the program and facilitate later maintenance. Therefore, design pattern mining has become a hot topic in reverse engineering. In recent years, new research methods have emerged in the direction of design pattern mining, and the mining accuracy and time complexity have been improved. This paper classifies and summarizes the existing design pattern mining research work, analyzes and discusses the different methods, points out the advantages and disadvantages of the corresponding research, and prospects the future research. This review provides the latest research trends.

In modern software engineering environments, tools that use Domain-Specific Languages (DSLs) are often applied. The usual workflow of such tools is that the textual input written in the DSL is parsed and a semantic model is instantiated. This model is later passed to another software component that processes it, e.g. a model transformation, a code generator or a simulator. Building the semantic model inside the parser is often a complex task. The model must be built in such a way that the constraints of the problem domain are enforced so that the consistency of the output is guaranteed. This paper presents a design pattern, referred as Aggregate Callback that supports enforcing constraints in the model and thus helps creating correct models. We have found that the Aggregate Callback pattern is useful for tool developers that build models in their applications.

Modeling devices has become a crucial task in the Internet of Things (IoT) and Semantic Web technologies are seen as a promising tool for this purpose. However, as it may be arduous to manipulate semantic models, industrial solutions often re-define non-standard, simplified semantics. This is the case with Project Haystack, a framework to tag devices with labels from a predefined vocabulary in the field of Building Automation. In order to make Project Haystack standard and fully semantic, we wrapped its vocabulary in an ontology. In this paper, we present the general strucure of this ontology, along with a method to turn tag sets into a Semantic Web model and back. The whole results in a reusable ontology design pattern. We aligned our Haystack tagging ontology with the wide-spreaded Semantic Sensor Network upper ontology and we designed a configuration environment for Building Automation systems based on semantic data to illustrate, so as to discuss the added-value of semantics in automation.

Recovering design patterns applied in a system can help refactoring the system. Machine learning algorithms have been successfully applied in mining data patterns. However, one of the main obstacles of applying them for design pattern detection is the difficulty of collecting training examples. Unlike other applications, a design pattern instance typically includes a group of classes with certain relationships. Thus, the possible combinations of the group of classes can be enormous which results in huge training sets making the application of machine learning algorithms impracticable. In this paper, we propose an innovative method using matrix transformations to cluster the training examples. Our method can significantly reduce the size of training examples, thus making it possible to be efficiently applied in machine learning algorithm.

In this paper, we conduct research on the construction and robustness testing of SaaS cloud computing data center based on the MVC design pattern. The SaaS software needs to experience the strict test before the issue. For all this, because is very difficult to forecast in the future all possible network users' to the service condition of SaaS system, therefore is also hard to conduct the completely thorough test to the complex SaaS software. What test method with can realizes to carry on the unceasing test and confirmation at the beginning of project to the design of SaaS system, thus dodges the mistake that discovers the potential problem, when is constructs the SaaS system needs the issue of key consideration. The reliability of the software is based on the reliability of the software data. In order to collect the reliability data of the software, a system with software error reporting, analysis and basic correction functions should be established. According to the requirements of the industry standard, the software error reporting, reliability data collection, analysis and processing rules are completed, and the reliability data of the software testing phase is collected accurately and completely. This paper starts from the MVC pattern to propose the new testing paradigm that is effective.

The microservices architecture is a relatively new approach in implementing service-oriented systems. This cloud- native architectural style enables the implementation of loosely coupled, agile, reuse-oriented, and lightweight services instead of monoliths. It also eliminates vendor and/or technology lock-ins. A modification to a small code segment for monoliths may require the building and deployment of a completely new version of the software. However, the modular form of microservices allows solving software versioning in a polyglot manner. In this paper, we extend the well-known microservice design pattern API gateway with a view to managing the virtual hardware configuration of containers. Specifically, using the proposed approach, the service capacity in the requested version of the service is orchestrated adaptively in compliance with a service-level agreement. In our tests, we found that the proposed version management approach reduced the hosting cost by 27% compared to static or rule-based scaling.
