Remote sensing detection model of damaged forest by tomicus piniperda was studied. It analyzed different detection models using multiple types of remote sensing data, such as TM, CBERS-1, AVHRR and MODIS data. The spectral features of the above remote sensing data (March, 2001) were given. And two detection models were put forward according to the spectral changing characteristics. One was named Difference Rate (DR) model with NIR and VIR data, which applied for TM, CBERS-1, AVHRR and MODIS. If DR was bigger, the forest grew healthier. Based on the typical sample, the different guidelines distinguished healthy and damaged forests were obtained. The other model was named Disaster Index (DI) model with thermal and NIR data, only suitable for MODIS. The guidelines of healthy and damaged forest were determined too. Greater DI was, the forest was stricken more badly. In conclusion, it will help monitor and assess the vermin occurrence and impact by remote sensing detection model.

Auditing practices nowadays have to cope with an increasing number of fraudulent financial statements. Data mining techniques can facilitate auditors in accomplishing the task of detection of fraudulent financial statements (FFS). Considering the character of FFS, this paper designs a FFS detection model based on support vector machine. To perform the experiment, we choose 44 FFS according to the auditing reports and 44 non-fraudulent financial statements(non-FFS) according to some specific standards from listed companies in China during 1999-2002 as training data set. Similarly, 73 FFS and 99 non-FFS during 2003-2006 are chosen as testing data set. We train the model using training data set and apply the trained model to the testing data set, good experimental results are obtained.

From four aspects, such as the element definition, the simple regulation, the formalized description and the mapping-relation description, the formalized analysis method is provided. Behavioural analysis for detection of malware has recently emerged as a new promising set of antiviral techniques: function-based detection is now considered along with sequence-based detection. Most of the antivirus publishers now claim to use behavioral analysis as a marketing argument. But the real impact of these "new" techniques seems to be mitigated since no real progress in the general antiviral fight has been noticed nowadays. This paper presents an evaluation methodology of the real capabilities of antivirus software with respect to the behavioral analysis. It is shown that contrary to the claims of some publishers, behavioural analysis is still very marginally used and implemented. These techniques are quite always either validated by or dependant on classical form-based detection methods (detection pattern as an example). In this context, we propose a generalised, theoretical detection model which considers at the same time both form-based and function-based detection and give some essential properties this model should exibhit to achieve a real behavioural-based detection.

This paper presents a probabilistic algorithm to collaborate distributed sensors for mobile robot localization. During robot localization given a known environment model, Monte Carlo method is extended to integrate the detection information coming from environmental sensors to localize robot as long as the sensors do detect the robot. Meanwhile, we present an implementation that uses color environmental cameras for robot detection. All the parameters of each environmental camera are unknown in advance and can be calibrated by robot. Once cameras' calibrated, their detection models can be trained using sensor data according to their parameters. As a result, the robot's belief can reduce its uncertainty in response to the detection effectively. A further experiment, obtained with the real robot in an indoor office environment, illustrates that drastic improvement in localization speed and accuracy when compared to conventional robot localization.

A first step required to allow video indexing and retrieval of visual data is to perform a temporal segmentation, that is, to find the location of camera-shot transitions, which can be either abrupt (i.e., cuts) or gradual (e.g., fades, dissolves, wipes). After a critical review of most approaches seeking to solve this problem, we propose a unified detection model (both for abrupt and all types of gradual transitions), as well as an implementation whose results improve upon those of all the inspected reports. The innovation of the approach presented here is centered on mapping the space of inter-frame distances onto a new space of decision better suited to achieving a sequence-independent thresholding. This mapping aims to consider frame ordering information within the thresholding process;it is based on the parametric modeling of the patterns that transitions generate on the distances' output. As opposed to most reviewed works, our results are detailed over a large and representative sample of more than 1500 cuts and 250 gradual transitions, which make up a significant part (200 min) of the MPEG-7 testing material;this ensures a high degree of confidence in the validity of our approach.

The objective was to show the influence of the radiotracer energy on the detector response, so as to interpret better data from radiotracer experiments. The radiotracer selection is important in obtaining reliable results, each specific case requiring careful analysis of the experimental data. This model includes all geometrical and compositional parameters of an MCP and the energy of a detected x-ray. An analytical investigation and numerical calculation of the detection efficiency were carried out;data obtained were compared with experimental results, A square and hexagonal channel MCP were considered in addition to a traditional circular channel MCP. A general characterization of multi-input movement detection models is given in terms of the Volterra series formalism. When nonlinearities of order higher than the second are negligible, an n-input system can be decomposed into a set of 2-input systems, summing linearly. For a (symmetrical) 2-input system which has significant nonlinearities only up to the second order, the correlation model is its most general expression, if the infinite time average of the output is taken. Specific observations from optomotor experiments (e.g. phase invariance and contrast frequency dependence) can be interpreted in a general way in terms of properties of the Volterra representation.
