Cognitive attacks on Social media such as propaganda activities are a sophisticated form of psychological manipulation that targets the mental processes of individuals or groups to influence their perceptions, decisions, and behaviors. This paper utilizes dynamic network analysis to study propaganda and non-propaganda social media content in the Middle East. We transformed textual features of propaganda and non-propaganda news headlines and the corresponding comments on social media into meta-networks and applied various centrality measures and community detection algorithms to them. We then compared the structural characteristics of each network. Our findings reveal significant differences in the centrality and community structures. Our network analysis of propaganda and non-propaganda content has revealed distinct structural differences, with propaganda networks exhibiting lower topic centrality and more fragmented topic structures. This indicates a strategic focus on targeted messaging rather than broad-based engagement. The higher centrality values in non-propaganda networks reveal a more interconnected and diverse information flow. The findings of our research are significant for both practitioners and policymakers. Our results inform the development of more effective counter-propaganda strategies. Efforts can be made to disrupt echo chambers and introduce alternative narratives that challenge propaganda content.

Due to growing human population and technology, huge climate change occurs which impact the environment and lives. Satellite images are profound for monitoring the ground surface. Due to the enormous availability of multispectral images, various applications based on classification, change detection have emerged. Researchers have developed lots of Multispectral Change detection Methods (MSCD) till date. These methods show essential sub-pixel level details, such as the abundance variation of each underlying material at a given location, or the shift in material distribution within the scene, with time or as a result of significant events such as a natural disaster. The main aim of the proposed work is to present a comparative study of various unsupervised methods for detecting binary changes in multispectral imagery. Through experimental study, we provide a comparative analysis of the algorithms. The various algorithms considered for our study are (1) Principal Component Analysis (PCA), (2) PCA with K-means clustering, (3) Multivariate Alteration detection (MAD), (4) Iteratively Reweighted Multivariate Alteration detection (IRMAD). Using real-world multi-temporal multispectral imaging dataset, we assess and compare the performance of all these algorithms and their time efficiency on Central Processing Unit (CPU) and Graphics Processing Unit (GPU). The empirical findings, accompanied by a description of each algorithms pros and cons, are intended to help researchers pick the procedures with the good features for MSCD applications.

Low-power, scalable detection systems require aggressive techniques to achieve energy efficiency. Algorithmic methods that can reduce energy consumption by compromising performance are known as being energy-aware. We propose a framework that imposes energy-awareness on cascaded detection algorithms. This is done by setting the detectors' thresholds to make a systematic trade-off between energy consumption and detection performance. The thresholds are determined by solving our proposed energy-constrained version of the Neyman-Pearson detection criterion. Our proposed optimization method systematically determines the energy-optimal thresholds and dynamically adjusts to time-varying system requirements. This framework is applied to a two-stage cascade, and simulations show that our energy-aware cascaded detectors outperform an energy-aware detection algorithm based on incremental refinement. Finally, combining our framework with incremental refinement reveals a promising approach to the design of energy-efficient detection systems.

The P-SLAM (parallel-sublambda) optical data storage system uses sub-wavelength features to store data and data densities of 5 Gbits/cm 2 are predicted. To detect the sub-wavelength features the near-field transmitted power is measured. The main hindrance to detection is interference from neighboring features. The FDTD method is used to model a limited span of the interference. A modified Viterbi algorithm is applied to a string of power measurements synthesized from the FDTD simulations and raw bit error rates of 10 -4 are achieved indicating that this algorithm is effective

In this paper, a centralized deadlock detection algorithm with multiple outstanding requests (CDDMOR) is proposed for use in distributed database systems and transaction-processing systems. This algorithm allows a process to request many resources simultaneously. While a centralized scheme is superior to a completely distributed scheme in terms of performance, a major problem of such a scheme is congestion. Therefore, an important extension to the basic CDDMOR, a partially distributed scheme, is proposed to alleviate the problem of congestion, as well as to take advantage of the result presented by several researchers that global (multisite) deadlocks are infrequent. It takes care of the local (single site) deadlocks without involving other sites and uses centralized deadlock detection only when there is a possibility of global deadlock.

Hands are used by drivers to perform primary and secondary tasks in the car. Hence, the study of driver hands has several potential applications, from studying driver behavior and alertness analysis to infotainment and human-machine interaction features. The problem is also relevant to other domains of robotics and engineering which involve cooperation with humans. In order to study this challenging computer vision and machine learning task, our paper introduces an extensive, public, naturalistic video-based hand detection dataset in the automotive environment. The dataset highlights the challenges that may be observed in naturalistic driving settings, from different background complexities, illumination settings, users, and viewpoints. In each frame, hand bounding boxes are provided, as well as left/right, driver/passenger, and number of hands on the wheel annotations. Comparison with an existing hand detection datasets highlights the novel characteristics of the proposed dataset.

Imaging of HIFU-induced lesions provides non-invasive, real-time treatment monitoring and control. This work presents results obtained with HIFU-induced lesion detection algorithms specifically designed for multiple lesion detection. algorithms sensitive to relative tissue changes during HIFU -measuring signal energy, tissue displacement, entropy, and tissue attenuation are compared for their ability to detect the creation of multiple and adjacent HIFU lesions. In vivo (N=4) canine prostate backscattered RF data was acquired with a custom Sonablate/spl reg/500 HIFU device during 7 treatments. A total of 815 sites were treated, forming the algorithm evaluation dataset. It was found that the algorithm based on signal energy performed best, detecting 82% of all HIFU lesions created, while showing false-alarm rates below 5%. All methods are completely non-invasive, and make use of tissue reference/normalization information obtained before, during, and after the HIFU treatment. Algorithm specifics, data acquisition methodologies, in vivo experimental results, and algorithm comparison results are shown.

The task of finding correspondences between images or objects in images is usually needed in remote sensing applications such as object recognition and image registration. To do this, interest - or salient - points can be used. These points are characteristic locations in images to which a descriptor can be associated to describe local features. The descriptors must be pertinent, robust to geometric and radiometric distortions. The ORFEO Toolbox includes innovative interest points detectors, Harris, SIFT (Scale Invariant Feature Transformation) and the recently added SURF (Speed Up Robust Features). The ORFEO Toolbox (OTB) provides a complete and efficient environment for developing elaborated applications thanks to the pipeline mechanism which ties successive processing steps and is able to deal with different image types. In this paper, we asses the interest point detectors available in OTB.

The proposed algorithms allows single phase billing meters to detect some power quality disturbances. Those meters have limited processors. Thus they cannot handle complex algorithms, like Fourier transform and filters, required for the identification of voltage sags, swells, transients and harmonic distortions on a real-time basis. The proposed conversion of the single phase voltage samples to a virtual polyphase signal allows for reduction of the processor activity in detection of power quality events. This article shows such a conversion and the results obtained for events detection. Simulation results and the detections making use of a single phase low cost voltage meter are presented.

Remote sensing has long been used as a means of detecting and classifying the different types of data attribute present in the land cover. In general, remote sensing is widely used across variety of real-time applications to identify the change information of geographical areas. The Objective of this work is to study three land cover change detection algorithms such as Image Differencing method, Auto-Correlation function method and Distance Analysis method. In this paper, land cover change is obtained by change detection method from the sequence of annual pattern dataset of multi-date temporal datasets. This work presents a performance comparison of change detection algorithms based on performance metrics Change data and False alarm. From the evaluated results, Autocorrelation function method performs better than other Image differencing and Distance analysis method.
