The aim of this paper is to present a novel approach to the decoding and the detection of multibit, multiplicative, watermarks embedded in the frequency domain. Watermark payload is conveyed by amplitude modulating a pseudo-random sequence, thus resembling conventional DS spread spectrum techniques. As opposed to conventional communication systems, though, the watermark is embedded within the host DFT coefficients by using a multiplicative rule. The watermark decoding technique presented in the paper is an optimum one, in that it minimizes the bit error probability. The problem of watermark presence assessment, which is often underestimated by state-of-the-art research on multibit watermarking, is addressed too, and the optimum detection rule derived according to the Neyman-Pearson criterion. Experimental results are shown both to demonstrate the validity of the theoretical analysis and to highlight the good performance of the proposed system.

Hadamard matrices have received much attention in recent years, owing to their numerous known and promising applications. The difficulties of construction of N equivalent to 0(mod4)-point Hadamard transforms are related to the existence of Hadamard matrices problem. In this paper algorithms for fast computation of N-point Williamson-Hadamard transform based on multiplicative theorems are presented. Comparative estimates revealing the efficiency of the proposed algorithms with respect to the known ones are given. The results of numerical examples are presented.

Decision Tree Classification is a simple and important mining function. Decision tree algorithms are computationally intensive, yet do not capture the evolutionary trends from incremental data repository. In conventional mining approaches, if two or more datasets arc to be merged to get a single target dataset, the, entire computation for constructing a classifier has to be carried out all over again. Previous work in this field has been to construct individual decision tree classifiers and merge them by taking a voted arbitration or by merging the corresponding decision rules. We have attempted a new approach by data-preproccssing the individual windows of the growing database and we call them as Knowledge Concentrates-KC of the respective database *** we propose to extract information from the different windows of the evolving database and store the different windows as Knowledge Concentrates KC. The formation of the KCs is done in the off-line mode. In the mining operations we use the KCs, instead of using the entire past data, thereby reducing the time and space complexity of the mining process. The user dynamically selects the target dataset by identifying the windows of interest. The mining requirement is satisfied by merging the respective KCs and running the decision tree algorithm on the merged KC. The proposed system operates in three phases. The first phase is the planning phase wherein the dataset domain information is gathered and the datamining goals are defined. The second phase makes a single scan on a Window in the database and generates a summary of this window as a Knowledge Concentrate (KC). In our work we have used an efficient dynamic Trie structure to store the KCs. The third phase merges the desired windows(KCs) and applies the Classification algorithm on the aggregate of the KCs to give the final required classifier. In this paper, a new wave front sensor design that utilizes the benefits of image projections is described and analyzed. The projection-based wave front sensor is similar to a Shack-Hartman type wave front sensor, but uses a correlation algorithm as opposed to a centroiding algorithm to estimate optical tilt. This allows the projection-based wave front sensor to estimate optical tilt parameters while guiding off of point sources and extended objects at very low signal to noise ratios. The implementation of the projection-based wave front sensor is described in detail showings important signal processing steps on and off of the focal plane array of the sensor. In this paper the design is tested in simulation for speed and accuracy by processing simulated astro-nomical data. These simulations demonstrate the accuracy of the projection-based wave front sensor and its superior performance to that of the traditional Shack-Hartman wave front sensor. Timing analysis is presented which shows how the collection and processing of image projections is computationally efficient and lends itself to a wave front sensor design that can produce adaptive optical control signals at speeds of up to 500 hz.

This paper develops methods for associating two sets of sensor tracks in the presence of missing tracks and translation bias. Key results include (1) Extension of the Maximum A Posteriori Probability method of matching tracks to use feature information as well as kinematic information;(2) translation bias removal techniques that are computationally tractable for large numbers of tracks, and effective in the presence of missing tracks. These methods were evaluated by Monte Carlo simulation. The experimental results indicate that the Maximum A Posteriori Probability method with its adaptive threshold achieves close to its best performance for matching tracks without an additional threshold adjustment.

The goal of the current paper is to introduce a novel clustering algorithm that has been designed for grouping transcribed textual documents obtained out of audio, video segments. Since audio transcripts are normally highly erroneous documents, one of the major challenges at the text processing stage is to reduce the negative impacts of errors gained at the speech recognition stage. Other difficulties come from the nature of conversational speech. In the paper we describe the main difficulties of the spoken documents and suggest an approach restricting their negative effects. In our paper we also present a clustering algorithm that groups transcripts on the base of informative closeness of documents. To carry out such partitioning we give an intuitive definition of "informative field of a transcript" and use it in our algorithm. To assess informative closeness of the transcripts, we apply Chi-square similarity measure, which is also described in the paper. Our experiments with Chi-square similarity measure showed its robustness and high efficacy. In particular, the performance analysis that have been carried out in regard to Chi-square and three other similarity measures such as Cosine, Dice, and Jaccard showed that Chi-square is more robust to specific features of spoken documents.

This paper describes a simulation and analysis of a sensor viewing a "pixelized" scene projector like the KHILS' Wideband Infrared Scene Projector (WISP). The main objective of this effort is to understand and quantify the effects of different scene projector configurations on the performance of several sensor signal processing algorithms. We present simulation results that quantify the performance of two signal processing algorithms used to estimate the sub-pixel position and irradiance of a point source. The algorithms are characterized for different signal-to-noise ratios, different projector configurations, and two different methods for preparing images that drive the projector. We describe the simulation in detail, numerous results obtained by processing simulated images, algorithms and projector properties, and present conclusions.

The request of pattern recognition has been frequently brought up by both mask and wafer engineers. Despite of different intentions, pattern recognition is usually the first step of many applications and hence plays a major role to accomplish certain tasks. For the purpose of this work, pattern recognition is defined as searching a specific polygon or a group of particular patterns from a chip layout. Operator scan is truly not an efficient approach of pattern recognition, in particular, for cases with huge design database of advanced semiconductor integrated circuits. Obviously, an automation system of pattern recognition is necessary and benefits the data preparation process. Two categories of pattern recognition are discussed in the present study, "fuzzy search" and "exact match." Each category has its own application, but the searching algorithms could be much different. Details of searching algorithms are given for both categories of pattern recognition. Due to the nature of industrial standard, the scope of the present application is limited to database with GDSII format. Hence, coordinate searching is internally used inside the searching engine.

In over-the-horizon radar (OTHR) moving target detection, the signal to clutter ratio (SCR) is low. One method to detect a moving target is to first reject the clutter and improve the SCR before the detection, such as the adaptive Fourier transform developed by Root when a target moves uniformly. When a target does not move uniformly, the Fourier based techniques for the target detection including super resolution techniques may not work well. In this paper, we replace the Fourier transform by the adaptive chirplet transform in the Doppler processing in OTHR when a target moves non-uniformly.
