The enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry (eXTP) mission is a large innovative observatory in the field of X-ray astronomy, designed to study the properties of matter under extreme conditions of density, gravity, and magnetic fields. It is developed by an international consortium led by the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and is currently completing Phase B with a launch foreseen in 2027. Two of the four instruments onboard eXTP will be provided by a European consortium: the Large Area Detector (LAD) and the Wide Field Monitor (WFM). These two instruments use a high number of largearea Silicon Drift Detectors (SDDs) that are organized in 40 modules of 16 detectors each for the LAD and in 6 coded-aperture cameras with 4 detectors each for the WFM. The high multiplicity and modularity of this concept as well as the high data rates call for a novel, hierarchical data processing scheme. A similar concept is applied in the data acquisition and processing system of the LAD and the WFM. Silicon Drift Detector and Front End Electronics using ASIC technology constitute the Detector Assembly. data processing is performed in an FPGA-based digital circuit using only ITAR-free components in order to facilitate export to the launch site in China. The design of the digital electronics is not yet finally frozen, but the development and manufacturing of demonstrator models have been already completed. The FPGA firmware based on the pipeline data processing concept has been developed in VHDL. This concept allows real-time data processing capabilities and reduces dead time, thus improving the detection capacity for high flux sources.

The main focus of this study is to explore the basics on the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) strongly. This article exemplifies few important fundamental concepts behind DFT with a hands-on approach. The understanding signal frequencies in terms of the sampling frequency (Fs) of the discrete-time system with many examples are detailed with interestingly. This one will establish a thorough knowledge to design digital filters appropriately. Also, a few more tips and tricks such as the DFT of the repeated sequence and spectral leakage are demonstrated with examples clearly using the Matlab R2016b tool. The computer-based learning style helps the student community a lot to apply and explore their mind in recent and innovative digital signal processing (DSP) applications. This kind of study motivates student group with self-learning and hence reducing the teaching load.

Background: Increasing numbers of patients with cardiovascular implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) and limited follow-up capacities highlight unmet challenges in clinical electrophysiology. Integrated software (MediConnect (R)) enabling fully digital processing of device interrogation data has been commercially developed to facilitate follow-up visits. We sought to assess feasibility of fully digital data processing (FDDP) during ambulatory device follow-up in a high-volume tertiary hospital to provide guidance for future users of FDDP software. Methods: A total of 391 patients (mean age, 70 years) presenting to the outpatient department for routine device follow-up were analyzed (pacemaker, 44%;implantable cardioverter defibrillator, 39%;cardiac resynchronization therapy device, 16%). Results: Quality of data transfer and follow-up duration were compared between digital (n = 265) and manual processing of device data (n = 126). digital data import was successful, complete and correct in 82% of cases when early software versions were used. When using the most recent software version the rate of successful digital data import increased to 100%. Software-based import of interrogation data was complete and without failure in 97% of cases. The mean duration of a follow-up visit did not differ between the two groups (digital 18.7 min vs. manual data transfer 18.2 min). Conclusions: FDDP software was successfully implemented into the ambulatory follow-up of patients with implanted pacemakers and defibrillators. digital data import into electronic patient management software was feasible and supported the physician's workflow. The total duration of follow-up visits comprising technical device interrogation and clinical actions was not affected in the present tertiary center outpatient cohort.

This paper discusses the use of wavelets for the preprocessing of data from seismic observation stations. The authors analyze the application of wavelets for seismic event data processing, discuss natural disasters prediction trends and make a decision about importance of performing additional seismic data analysis. We provide a new approach of seismic event preprocessing based on different methods combination and MATLAB usage. This approach can be used during educational process in the fields of digital data processing, wavelet analysis, natural disasters research and MATLAB study.

In this paper we describe the use of kind of greedy algorithms for the efficient digital data processing by means of conversion to the space granular representation. The wide domains of computer technique using for the data extraction, processing and collection depends on the efficient algorithms and apparatus for the data manipulation. The examples of the "umbrella" terms in Artificial Intellect problems is data Mining (DM) and Information Granulation (IG). Both DM and IG includes the different type approaches to the data processing and understanding. The common parts of two techniques is the data clustering (data granulation in the wide sense). It provides the high efficiency of designed algorithms by using natural data incompleteness, inaccuracy, incorrectness and other properties of Soft Computing. As a result, for the data granulation problems we provide the efficient algorithms (greedy algorithms), based on the granulation theory. (C) 2017 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.

Pulse shape discrimination (PSD) performance of two optimized PSD systems (one digital and one analog) is compared in this work. One system uses digital charge integration, while the other system uses analog zero crossing. Measurements were conducted with each PSD system using the CAEN V1720 (250 MHz) data acquisition system. An organic-liquid scintillator, coupled to a photo-multiplier tube, was used to detect neutrons and gamma rays from a Cf-252 spontaneous-fission source. The PSD performance of both systems was optimized and quantified using a traditional figure-of-merit (FOM) approach. FOM's were found for three, 300 keVee light-output bins, spanning from 100 to 1000 keVee, and one larger bin from 100 to 1800 keVee. digital PSD outperformed analog PSD in the lowest light-output bin by approximately 50%, and by 11% for the highest light-output bin. The paper presents a measurement system created with the use of compactRIO system. The newly constructed system is integrated with the on-board elements of an airplane and intended for in-flight experiments of control systems, identification of an airplane motion model and pilot's behaviour tests. Besides hardware components the obtaining proper data is achieved by data processing. The original new method of two-stage conversion of measurement data is described. Thanks to this method the reduction in the level of disturbances in the measured signals is achieved.

Cluster Analysis for Measurements of Gas-Discharge Emission Parameters for Blood Samples

Problems encountered in diagnosis of blood diseases are considered, and an analysis of existing methods for measuring blood parameters is presented. A new approach to screenings is proposed that is based on recording images of the gas-discharge emission from blood droplets in an electromagnetic field, and also a method for automated computer processing of the images obtained, making it possible to generate the pixel brightness histogram, to estimate the values of the medians in the brightness ranges, and to carry out fuzzy c-means cluster analysis.
