In this paper, we review the development of the Advanced Nuclear Interface Modeling Environment (ANIME). ANIME was developed over the course of four years to support prototyping of distributed control system (DCS) interfaces for the Human system Simulation Laboratory (HSSL), a full-scale control room simulator at Idaho National Laboratory. Originally, ANIME consisted of software code developed to facilitate formative design of replacement control systems for legacy control rooms at nuclear power plants. ANIME was found to be an effective tool to test design concepts prior to formal system specification and deployment. ANIME, which is based on Microsoft Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) libraries, allowed rapid application development that could be evaluated using operator-in-the-loop studies in the HSSL. These software tools for modernizing control room interfaces were also used to develop the novel Computerized Operator Support system (COSS) interface, which allows advanced prognostics and visualization. Over time, additional opportunities led to the development of a more extensive library of tools, including support for microworld simulation.

The dust removal system of a certain power plant was controlled by omron programmable Logic controller(PLC). It needs to be included in the master control system DCS(distributed control system) in order to fit the request of all control systems integration. Using a network protocol converter realize the Profibus-DP and Device Net fieldbus networks communication, which are two networks with heterogeneous protocol. So a two levels supervisory control system is built. The Siemens PCS7 is the main control system, and omron PLC is the control subsystem. By Siemens PCS7 system configuration, the upper level monitoring program CFC configuration, remote monitoring picture configuration, the gateway PD-100 S Settings and omron PLC system configuration, the dust removal system is included in power plant main control system PCS7. The retrofit scheme needs small amount of new equipments. Hardware and software configuration and parameters setting are simplfy. Under the existing dedusting system data update quantity, the system can reliably realize the remote monitoring. The scheme can provide a reference for the integration of heterogeneous fieldbus system.

In this paper, based on the dimethyl ether plant process and production process control system, the optimal design of DME control system is studied and the simulation system are established. First of all, the production equipment is regarded as the research object, and through the device operation requirements and device characteristics of structural analysis, and combined with the DCS control system of special requirements, the DME device DCS control system construction program is planned and designed;and then design the process model and the control system model;finally, introduce the complex control chain system and optimize the above design to realize the simulation training system. The simulation results show that the control system can actually reflect the dynamic characteristics of the actual equipment, and can correctly carry out the production operation process and safety interlock control of the device by using process control software and configuration software the control system. It is significant for the development of the DME simulation training system.

Several debugging methods are available for FPGA design, including logical simulation and physical debug. We face the challenge to systematize and apply a simple methodology using these methods to develop a communication processing module for a distributed control system with real time constraints. This methodology must follow some restrictions as to be easy to learn, use only available tools and not conflict with techniques employed by our industrial partner. The hardware module must be designed from scratch and must replace commercial communication modules in new devices. It will be responsible for real time interactions between programmable controllers and remote IO in large distributed control systems. The paper describes our experience designing the processing module, the methodology applied and an evaluation of this methodology during the project development.

ICSs are typically used in Ethiopia in industries such as electric, water, sugar factories and different discrete types of manufacturing industries. These control a system which includes supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, and distributed control systems (DCS) are critical to the operation of Ethiopian critical infrastructures that are becoming highly interconnected and mutually dependent systems. It is important to note that most of the nation's critical infrastructures and industrial processes mentioned above are publicly owned and operated. Thus, to minimize the risks of critical systems, preparing industrial control system security framework by considering Ethiopian Context is a must. In this paper, we prepare ICS security framework based on industry good practice from the fields of ICS and IT security and aims to help organizations address the challenges of increased use of standard IT technologies in the ICS environment. The paper provides recommended ICS security architecture, network security and communication protocol in the context of Ethiopian ICS requirement.

Light weight manipulator is characteristic of high load to weight ratio and high speed operation capability, so it has good prospect for application in warehousing logistics and agricultural picking. In this paper, a 4-DOF lightweight arm is designed and its control system and kinematics are studied. Firstly, the control system of the manipulator is determined. A distributed control system (DCS) based on the CAN (controller area network) bus is proposed in order to realize coordinated multi-axis control, the upper computer performs trajectory planning task of the manipulator, the actuator adopts PVT interpolation mode by which the upper computer sends trajectory segment message to the actuator via CAN bus. Secondly, the kinematics and trajectory planning of the manipulator is analyzed and studied. According to the link structure of the manipulator, the joint structure model is established and its kinematics is analyzed. The inverse kinematics of the manipulator is solved by geometry method to meet the task requirement. The motion trajectory of the manipulator is planned by the polynomial interpolation in the joint space. Finally, the simulation results show that the kinematic planning method is effective and the actual operation test shows that the manipulator can realize the action quickly and accurately to satisfy the operational requirement in the actual working environment.

Nowadays, under the progress of modern computer technology and intelligent control theory, the microprocessors centered distributed control systems provides a broad space for the development of textile industry. Among these systems, fuzzy control has become a major means of computer intelligent control. In this paper, in order to improve the production quality of the cotton cloth breaching process in the textile industry, a distributive fuzzy control system for cotton cloth bleaching is implemented with the industrial control computers, the variables, the rules and the controlling process of the fuzzy controller in this system are designed after analyzing the operational sequence of cotton cloth bleaching. The practice application showed that this system turns out to be meeting the design requirements with a 95% average approved quality of cotton cloth.

The integration of scheduling and control has been discussed in the past. While constructing an integrated plant model that may still seem out of reach, scheduling and control,systems are increasingly more intertwined. We argue that they are in fact already integrated and give the example of two key performance indicators (KPIs) that are defined in the recent international standard ISO 22400. The :focus of this study is on KPIs that consider both planned times and actual times. An amino acid production plant is used in the study, and the production is described from both the scheduling and the control perspective. To illustrate the integration, a schedule is computed containing the planned production times. Resulting measurements from the control system are analyzed for their actual production times using a proposed procedure that detects the start and end time of hatches. Using KPIs as the interface between scheduling and control can he used as a strategy for maximizing the plant performance. The study focuses on the process industry.
