Based on the requirements analysis of the high reliability of long-period spacecraft vacuum thermal test, with server cluster technology, a high available distributed measurement and control system for spacecraft vacuum thermal test is designed. This paper expounds the system structure, the detailed method of system build and implement. The scheme can optimize hardware resource allocation, achieve failover and fault recovery, guarantee the continuous and stable running of measurement and control system during the long test period. Finally, test proves that the system shutdown time is less than 15 minutes and the high available system can relieve the loads of operators, decrease the test hazard due to system defects and man-made errors, and improve the precision, efficiency, automation of spacecraft vacuum thermal test.

Multi-agent-based task scheduling algorithm for distributed measurement and control system

A new dynamic task scheduling algorithm for distributed measurement and control system is proposed based on multi-agent. This algorithm adopts the receive-initiated scheduling strategy and dynamically migrates tasks according to the current status of load on each node. So the algorithm can promote system efficiency and attain load balancing. The task is migrated with mobile agent in order to decrease network transmission and save time effectively.

IEEE Standard 1588 defines a protocol that enables the precise synchronization of clocks in the components of a networked, distributed, measurement and control system. distributed measurement and control systems in which all components share a common sense of time allow significant decoupling of synchronization issues from considerations of communication latency and fluctuation. This decoupling enables new techniques for solving measurement and control problems involving either large numbers of sensors and actuators or complex synchronization requirements. A common sense of time is established by having each component contain a real-time clock synchronized to its peers. This may be accomplished using IEEE Standard for a Precision Clock Synchronization Protocol for Networked measurement and control systems (IEEE 1588-2002).

Analysis of the Effectiveness of the Method of Qualification Tests for Satellite Communications Earth Stations

We analyze the effectiveness of the qualification test method for communications satellite earth stations, implemented using a multi-user distributed measurement control system. We study the dependence of shortening the test phase on the number of organized operating sites, the technical characteristics of the spacecraft and the planned operational load of the on-board relay complex. We consider the possible increase in the commercial efficiency of a spacecraft over its lifetime.

A clock soft synchronization method based on CAN bus and synchronization error analysis

Based on information pipeline technology, a clock soft synchronization method used in distributed measurement and control system is proposed. Using a separate information pipeline, the synchronization information is broadcasted to nodes in the distributed measurement and control system by synchronization node every message transaction cycle time, and all nodes automatically synchronize the local clock after receiving it. We analyze the theoretical synchronization error and verify this clock soft synchronization method in CAN bus. The theory analysis and experimental results indicate that the synchronization error mainly consists of propagation delay error, drift error and CAN loop delay error, and it increases linearly with the increasing of transmission distance.

The IEEE 1588 Standard for A Precision Clock Synchronization Protocol for Networked measurement and control systems (PTP) has been developed to provide better quality in-band clock synchronization in distributed measurement and control systems and other network embedded systems. Using IEEE 1588 compliant Ethernet equipment (network interface cards and switches) it is possible to provide sub 1 microsecond precision of slave clocks compared to a reference clock. The centerpiece of an IEEE 1588 based clock is the clock servo disciplining the local clock based on the information provided by IEEE 1588 about the reference time. However, it is an opened question how precision can be increased even further by advanced clock servo design. Furthermore, as only a minority of office and industrial Ethernet switches support IEEE 1588, it is also paramount to investigate the achievable performance for such systems, which is also defined by the clock servo. To design advanced control systems the plant and the disturbances must be modeled, and the model must be built based on representative measurements. In our case, the one-way network delay in between the reference clock and the slave clock must be characterized in Local Area Networks (LAN) for typical network load scenarios for advanced servo design, so 1-10 ns accurate one-way delay and jitter measurements must be achieved for this application. Measuring one-way delay in Local Area Networks requires specialized and expensive equipment;however, we will show that it is possible to build such measurement system using commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components and open source software. Our system uses Intel network interface cards, the open source Linux operating system, and some self-developed software components (both Linux kernel drivers and user space programs).

IEEE 1588-2008 Standard for a Precision Clock Synchronization Protocol for Networked measurement and control systems has been introduced to provide high quality inband clock synchronization in distributed measurement and control systems. We have been actively involved in the development of IEEE 1588 implementations for Linux on the x86 (PC) platform in the last years. During these years we have developed a test environment that makes it possible to develop and test our solutions remotely in a controlled remote server room with minimum physical human interaction. The paper introduces this test environment first. The test environment uses remote access and virtualization technologies in an extensive way, making possible not only seamless remote development and test, but low-cost implementation also. In the second part of the paper the first measurement results of our current IEEE 1588 development is detailed. Our work is an extension of the standard Linux IEEE 1588 software for Pulse Per Second (PPS) logic output using standard Intel Network Interface Cards only. Our initial results show that we can achieve sub 100ns PPS precision on standard (non-real-time) x86 Linux.
