Comparison of ei and metastable atom bombardment ionization for the identification of polyurethane thermal degradation products

Polyurethanes are widely used in the manufacture of commercial products such as foams and paints. During combustion, these polymers can generate isocyanates, which induce adverse health effects. Polymer pyrolysis (Py) hyphenated with mass spectrometry (MS) allows the investigation of polymer thermal degradation over time/temperature. A diphenylmethanediisocyanate (MDI) polyurethane foam was analyzed with electron ionization (ei) and metastable atom bombardment (MAB) ionization at a pyrolysis temperature of 400 degreesC. The recently introduced MAB ionization source uses discrete energy stored in metastable atoms of gases to ionize the analytes. This characteristic allows modulation of the ionization energy by simply changing the ionization gas. The extensive fragmentation of molecular ions observed using El 70 eV is not totally eliminated with El 10 eV. However, only molecular ions are observed with MAB using N-2 as the ionization gas. Temperature gradients were used to separate the products generated during the thermal degradation of a 1,6-hexamethylenediisocyanate (HDI) polyurethane paint. The analysis of mass spectra was facilitated owing to a selective desorption of pyrolysis products. Furthermore, changing the MAB ionization gas allows elucidation of the structure of the pyrolysis products by controlling the extent of their fragmentation. During these experiments, isocyanic acid, methyleneisocyanate, ethyleneisocyanate, propylisocyanate and butylisocyanate were detected. (C) 2003 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

ei in non-vaccinated population causes disruption and economic losses. To identify the risk factors associated with the ei epidemics in equids in Pakistan, a 1:1 matched case control study was conducted during 2015-2016. Including a total of 197 laboratory confirmed cases and negative controls, matched on the basis of geography, time of sampling, specie and age. A piloted questionnaire was used to collect data regarding risk factors associated with the occurrence of ei in face to face interviews. Conditional logistic regression was performed to analyze the data. A total of 16 out of 23 variables were found associated as risk factors in Univariable conditional logistic regression analysis. Multivariable conditional logistic-regression analysis was also performed. Monthly removal of manure doubles the risk of ei (ei) compared to its daily removal. Due to lack of vaccination;the spread of disease was favored by high equine density. Investigating the index-case it was recorded that infected cases were imported from Afghanistan. Most of these risk factors related to biosecurity and management were due to low awareness level regarding ei amongst the respondents. These findings are in line with the results of many other studies identifying similar risk factors for ei infection in various countries. Adopting protective practices, vaccination and controlling the risk factors identified in the present study could reduce the spread and future outbreaks of ei in Pakistan.

Emotional intelligence is an important issue which has been concerned by the Psychologies and foreign business management in recent years. Emotional intelligence is a capability, is one kind of potential to create profit. But, as we know, capability itself doesn't create values directly, creating values needs to act. So it is important to research on what the relationship between emotional intelligence and performance is. This paper adds citizenship behavior variable as modulation in order to find the mechanism that El influences performance. Through empirical research, we find that citizenship behavior is mediator between El and performance. This solution is important value to propel management theory and to guide concrete practice.

Numerical Study for Characteristic Change of Asian Summer Monsoon Circulation and Its Influence Mechanism during the ei Nino Period

The model involves comparatively complete physical processes and parameterizations with mountains.Using the above model two experimental schemes are designed namely control case and anomalous sea surface temperature case. The above two schemes are respectively integrated for forty days and the simulated results are obtained from the last 30-day averaged simulations.The simulations show that positive SST anomalies over equatorial central-eastern Pacific weakens Indian monsoon circulationdecreases precipitation in Indian sub-continent whereas it intensifies East Asian monsoon circulation and increases precipitation in East Asian area. All these results reflect the characteristics of Asian summer monsoon during the El Nino period. In this paper SST anomalies over equatorial central-eastern Pacific have a direct influence on the intensity and position of subtropical high via the wave train over Northern Hemisphere which is similar to that suggested by Nitta(1987) and the wave train over Southern Hemisphere has an influence on the intensity of Muscarene high and Australia high resulting in affecting cross equatorial flow. As a result atmospheric interior heat sources and sinks are redistributed because of the change of cross equatorial flow. And the response of atmosphere to the new heat source and sink has a significant influence on Asian summer monsoon.

Development and validation of a GC-ei-MS method with reduced adsorption loss for the quantification of olanzapine in human plasma

A simple and sensitive GC-ei-MS method using solvent extraction and evaporation was developed for the determination of olanzapine concentrations in plasma samples. Because olanzapine and promazine, which was used as the internal standard (IS), are nitrogenous bases, they can adsorb to the weakly acidic silanol groups on the surfaces of glass centrifuge tubes during solvent extraction and evaporation. Silylation of the glass tubes, addition of triethylamine (TEA), and use of a sample solution with a basic pH could prevent adsorption loss. The extraction method involved mixing plasma (500 mu L) in a silylated glass tube with a promazine solution (2 mu g/mL, 25 mu L) in methanol containing 1% TEA. After addition of aqueous sodium carbonate (0.5 mol/L, pH 11.1, 1 mL) and extraction into 3 mL of dichloromethane/n-hexane (1:1, v/v) containing 1% TEA, the organic phase was evaporated to dryness in a silylated glass tube. The residue was dissolved in ethyl acetate containing 1% TEA (50 mu L). For GC-ei-MS analysis, the calibration curves of olanzapine in human plasma were linear from 0.5 to 100 ng/mL. Intra- and interday precisions in plasma were both less than 7.36% (coefficient of variation), and the accuracy was between 94.6 and 110% for solutions with concentrations greater than 0.5 ng/mL. The limit of quantification was 0.5 ng/mL in plasma. The assay was applied to therapeutic drug monitoring in samples from three schizophrenic patients.

The purpose of this paper was to evaluate the reliability and validity of a modified adolescent version of the Swinburne University Emotional Intelligence Test (Adolescent SUeiT). Study I identified qualitative changes and rewording of items necessary to make the SUeiT more 'adolescent friendly'. In Study 2 the adolescent modified version of the SUeiT was administered to a larger sample of adolescents (N = 1002) to gather information on internal reliability, and to perform validity testing via exploratory factor analysis. The sub-scale reliability of the Adolescent SUeiT was found to be moderate to high, and a four-factor model was most representative of the adolescent sample. It was also noted that the more basic emotional intelligence (ei) abilities were positively related to age;females reported higher levels of emotional perception;and mean scores for the adolescent sample were below the norm for an adult population. With the amount of El research with adolescents increasing, it is important to have valid and reliable tests available for research into important social and educational outcomes for adolescents. This initial evidence suggests the Adolescent SUeiT is a reliable and valid tool, and should be used to further understand the role of El in adolescence, and how El relates to important life criteria. Based on a series of data analyses, the intimate relations between anomalous winter monsoon in East Asia and El Nino arc studied in this *** circulation in the Northern Hemisphere caused by El Nino event can lead to enhancing the Ferre! cell and the westerlies in the mid-latitudes as the Hadley cell and result in the location of the front zone in East Asia to the north. These are unfavourable for the cold wave breaking out southward in East Asia. Therefore, there ate warmer weather and weaker winter monsoon in East Asia in El Nino *** are stronger and frequent cold waves in East Asia during the wintertime prior to the occurrence of El Nino event. They will induce stronger winter monsoon in East Asia. Thus, the weakened trade wind and enhanced cumulus convection in the equatorial middle-western Pacific area caused by the stronger winter monsoon will play an important role in the occurrence of El Nino event. Therefore, the anomalously strong winter monsoon in East Asia during wintertime might be an important mechanism to cause El Nino event.

对历年来被ei Compendex Web收录的我国中文石油科技期刊论文进行了统计分析,结果表明,我国石油科技期刊自1985年首次被ei收录以来,被收录的期刊种数和论文数量从 90 年代中期开始呈快速增长趋势。但总体而言,ei Compendex Web收录的中文石油科技期刊的种数还不够多,相当多的刊物被收录情况不够稳定,而被ei核心收录的刊物种数和论文篇数则更少。分析结果从一个侧面折射出:近年来我国石油科技研究进步显著,但整体水平还有待进一步提高。

基于极限分析的上限定理，提出一种土石坝极限抗震分析的新方法。该方法假定土体为理想刚塑性材料且满足相关联流动准则，将土石坝坡滑动体划分为若干水平土条，计算各滑动土条的外功率与内能耗散，然后通过能量平衡条件，利用优化算法确定土石坝的极限抗震能力。运用所提方法，对一典型心墙土石坝进行极限抗震能力分析，研究了水平条分数以及抗剪强度参数对极限抗震能力影响。计算结果表明，水平条分数对滑裂面形状影响较大而对大坝极限抗震能力影响较小。当水平条分数增加到一定数目时大坝极限抗震能力最终趋于一个稳定值。同时，堆石料的抗剪强度对大坝极限抗震能力影响较大。通过与传统的极限平衡法对比，验证了所提方法的正确性与可行性。
