This paper presents an innovative approach to addressing the complex challenges posed by Test Task Scheduling Problems (TTSPs) through the utilization of Multimodal Multi-objective Football Game Algorithm (MM-FGA). TTSPs hold significant importance in industries where testing plays a critical role in ensuring product quality. This study outlines the integration of MM-FGA with the Normalized Factor Random Key (NF-RK) encoding scheme, tailored to the discrete nature of TTSPs. Four real-world TTSPs are investigated with the objectives of minimizing makespan and mean workload. Comparative analyses are conducted against other prominent multiobjective algorithms, including NSGA-II, DN-NSGA-II, Tri-MOE-TA&R, MP-MMEA, and MO-Ring-PSO-CD. The results exhibit MM-FGA's competitive performance, particularly in terms of the diversity of solutions obtained in the decision space. This underscores MM-FGA's prowess in addressing the multimodality challenges of optimization problems. The study further suggests the prospect of advancing step-size control strategies through meta-optimization, aiming to refine the algorithm's exploration and exploitation balance for even more potent optimization outcomes. Overall, MM-FGA demonstrates promise in solving multimodal multiobjective discrete problems like TTSPs, while indicating room for future enhancements. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, we analyze the impact of different encoding schemes on the age of information (AoI) performance in a point-to-point system, where a source generates packets based on the status updates collected from multiple sensors and transmits the packets to a destination. In this system, we consider two encoding schemes, namely, the joint encoding scheme and the distributed encoding scheme. In the joint encoding scheme, the status updates from all the sensors are jointly encoded into a packet for transmission. In the distributed encoding scheme, the status update from each sensor is encoded individually and the sensors' packets are transmitted following the round robin policy. To ensure the freshness of packets, the zero-wait policy is adopted in both schemes, where a new packet is immediately generated once the source finishes the transmission of the current packet. We derive closed-form expressions for the average AoI achieved by these two encoding schemes and compare their performances. Simulation results show that the distributed encoding scheme is more appropriate for systems with a relatively large number of sensors, compared with the joint encoding scheme.

In this work, a digital differential transmitter based on low-power wireless compensation transceiver for body channel communication (BCC) is proposed. Further, the proposed transceiver is composed of Touch Status Detection Unit (TSDU), Wireless Status Compensation Unit (WSCU), and a reconfigurable preamplifier. Initially, the human body channel environment for wireless communication is investigated based on properties from 1 to 100 MHz. Further, the turbo code-based encoding scheme is used to encode the data before transferring the data on the transmitter side. Also, the proposed error-correcting parallel turbo decoder using a modified step-by-step algorithm is presented. The turbo code-based decoding scheme is used to recover the error-free transmitted data at the receiver side. Results demonstrate that the proposed BCC transceiver is designed using 90 nm CMOS technology and it is observed that the proposed BCC transceiver has utilized an area of 600mm(2). Also, the maximum data rate achieved by a proposed BCC transceiver was 100 Mbps, and the overall transceiver power consumption is 0.42 mW, and energy for communication is 0.02 nj/b.

The aircraft ground service is a key ring to guarantee flight safety and normal operation. In the case of the traveling time of service crew from one aircraft parking place to another to be nonignorable, the scheduling optimization problem of ground service can be described as a vehicle routing problem with time windows of multiply nonidentical vehicles. To solve the problem, we propose a genetic algorithm with a hybrid encoding scheme. The encoding scheme describes the bit of a chromosome as a positive real number. Its integer part stands for the assigned crew of a flight and its decimal part for the position in job sequence by percent. The encoding scheme integrates assignment and sequence information in one number. Thus, it can be conveniently processed by all genetic operations of crossover, mutation, selection, and reproduction. A greedy heuristic is embedded as the sequencing initialization and reinitialization tool in the genetic algorithm procedure. The genetic algorithm is used to solve a lot of examples from a practical aircraft service company. The achieved results show that the algorithm is efficient.

A new encoding scheme-based hybrid algorithm for minimising two-machine flow-shop group scheduling problem

This article investigates the two-machine flow-shop group scheduling problem (GSP) with sequence-dependent setup and removal times, and job transportation times between machines. The objective is to minimise the total completion time. As known, this problem is an NP-hard problem and generalises the typical two-machine GSPs. In this article, a new encoding scheme based on permutation representation is proposed to transform a random job permutation to a feasible permutation for GSPs. The proposed encoding scheme simultaneously determines both the sequence of jobs in each group and the sequence of groups. By reasonably combining particle swarm optimisation (PSO) and genetic algorithm (GA), we develop a fast and easily implemented hybrid algorithm (HA) for solving the considered problems. The effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed HA are demonstrated and compared with those of standard PSO and GA by numerical results of various tested instances with group numbers up to 20. In addition, three different lower bounds are developed to evaluate the solution quality of the HA. Limited numerical results indicate that the proposed HA is a viable and effective approach for the studied two-machine flow-shop group scheduling problem.

Intrusion detection is the primary model for giving security to the network. There are numerous issues with conventional intrusion detection models (for example, low detection ability against obscure arranges attack, high false caution rate, and inadequate investigation ability). The real challenging in design IDS with enhanced precision and diminished the training time. This paper come up with hybrid intrusion detection model by incorporating the kernel principal component analysis (KPCA) and binary grey wolf optimization (BGWO) with support vector machine (SVM). The curiosity of the paper is the headway of part parameters of the SVM classifier using the customized parameter assurance procedure. This proposed hybrid method streamlines the discipline factor (C) and kernel parameters (sigma) and the size of tube epsilon of SVM, like this enhancing the precision of the classifier and reduces the testing and training time.

Energy-Efficient Time-Based Adaptive encoding for Off-Chip Communication

The energy for data transfer has an increasing effect on the total system energy as technology scales, often overtaking computation energy. To reduce the power of interchip interconnects, an adaptive encoding scheme called adaptive word reordering (AWR) is proposed, which effectively decreases the number of signal transitions, leading to a significant power reduction. A novel circuit is implemented, which exploits the time domain to represent complex bit transition computations as delays and, thus, limits the power overhead due to encoding. The effectiveness of AWR is validated in terms of decrease in both bit transitions and power consumption. AWR is shown to yield higher power savings compared with three state-of-the-art techniques reaching 23% and 61% during the transfer of multiplexed address-data and image files, respectively, at just 1-mm wire length.

In order to update and query XML data effectively, a new XML encoding scheme named fraction and path encoding scheme (FAPE) is proposed. FAPE makes good use of the fraction characteristic that is unlimited fractions can be inserted between any two fractions. Besides, FAPE puts information of XML nodes into corresponding tables to avoid recording the same information. The experimental results show that FAPE saves storage space and improves efficiency of querying compared with other encoding scheme.

Single-pixel compressive imaging based on random DoG filtering

As its name implies, compressive sensing aims to bring compression during sampling. However, the deployment of this technique depends on recovering a high fidelity image through a low number of measurements with a simple hardware and fast software. To this end, we introduce an encoding scheme that by filtering the scene acquires information about the image structure. To prepare a set of proposed encoding patterns, at the first step, a filter bank containing a number of Difference of Gaussian (DoG) kernels with different scales is prepared. Then, by randomly selecting the filters from the bank and under-sampling the scene with them at random points, each encoding pattern is constructed. The idea is inspired by the Human Visual System (HVS) that uses a set of size-tuned DoG kernels at each point in the field-of-view. These encoding patterns, which make a set of linearly independent vectors, form the rows of a structured measurement matrix. This matrix allows making relatively well-conditioned dictionaries by different sparsifying bases. The effectiveness of this method is confirmed by simulations and analyses. (C) 2020 Elsevier B.V.
